Have I mentioned the lights in my parking garage don`t work? (see January 10, 2022) I pay a monthly fee to park in a dangerous place. There`s a much nicer parking garage that would cost me less money, but it`s farther away from where I work. No pretty pictures today, alas. A lot of people believe passionately in lost causes.

Her lips are sealed. Anticipating bad weather, tomorrow`s entire broadcast day is prerecorded. I`ve been replaced by a machine. Groundhog declares winter over, spring to commence immediately. Dayton`s anti-sleet force field is working properly. Rain now, sleet later, then snow. Winter is the worst.

February 3, 2022
I`m wearing my winter coat, and beneath that a hooded sweatshirt, and beneath that a hat and scarf, and beneath that resentment. Trillions of tiny ice cubes. I don`t have to go anywhere today, but I need to deal with the ice. Twenty minutes later. There was a hawk in the tree watching me like a hawk.

February 4, 2022
Beneath the cute coat: resentment. Which is worse: snow or ice? Here we go again. Twenty-three minutes later, my car won`t move, so I had to walk to work. Watch out for the hawk.

February 5, 2022
Better late than never, I guess. I stayed inside all day, got an enormous amount of work done, and drank lots of apple juice. MELT!!! Days without pizza would have French fries instead (see January 28, 2022). It was a beautiful sunset.

February 6, 2022
Here we go again (see November 9, 2021). A jolly happy soul. You`re not. Really -- seriously -- you`re NOT going to. I guess you are. Dear birds: on behalf of all humanity, I apologize for the mylar balloons now polluting your sky.

February 7, 2022
My hypothesis has been disproved (see April 6, 2021). I`m surrounded by disarray. My daily car update: ice from the roof has somehow slipped beneath the windshield wipers. The last place on earth I want to be is anyplace cold. Due to grocery store shortages, I was compelled to buy different things, and my taste buds are grateful for it.

The condition of my soul in February. Time keeps on slippin` slippin` slippin` into the future. STEVE MILLER My daily car defrosting update. Daniel is traveling tonight on a plane. ELTON JOHN Don`t ask why I have so many Sharpies. Oh, and remember overhead projector markers? I`ve got some.

On the anniversary of Paul Laurence Dunbar`s death, a graveside tribute took place at Woodland Cemetery. National Park Service Ranger Robert Peterson announced that today is Paul Laurence Dunbar Day. LaVerne Sci led the graveside tribute, just as she has done for 34 years. Frank Sci and Mitchell Cape placed a wreath on Dunbar`s grave. Reginald Harmon played Taps during the ceremony.

Hey thanks, but if you shovel the sidewalk that`s enough. Yes, but what are you running from? The condition of my soul in February. Walking through the Sinclair campus, I could barely recognize the place. This was my locker in 1986. I wonder if they`ve changed the combination.

February 11, 2022
New roof finished already (see February 10 above). Pickup trucks threaten my life in crosswalks, and delivery bikes make sidewalks dangerous. I was surprised to see a hooded merganser downtown. There used to be a baseball player here (see September 14, 2004, and September 20, 2006). Now there`s an old Chevy. Diamonds are a girl`s best friend, but they can get friendly with roses too.

February 12, 2022
At Woodland Cemetery, the University of Dayton Chorale sang a song based on a poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar. The choir was conducted by Steven Hankle. LaVerne Sci portrayed Dunbar`s friend Hallie Q. Brown. In Sears Recital Hall, Minnita Daniel-Cox, accompanied by John Benjamin, sang songs with Dunbar texts. Herbert Woodward Martin recited several Dunbar poems.

There was a gymnastics competition halfway between Troy and Arcanum. The hard part is landing. She was an Elk in Viking territory. These teenage girls are strong and brave. There`s too much background clutter at these events.

Low-flying cloud. I`ve probably taken this photo before on a previous sunny and cold winter day, but repressed the memory. I`m still fascinated with these horrific lamps (see January 19, 2022, December 3, 2021, March 6, 2018, and October 27, 2014). Attracted by the red lights, the red car sped on. Yes, I do take candy from strangers. These were on my porch.

Hibernating until spring. When I walk in this door, I usually spend a lot of money. I had to flip the page just to make sure it was coming. The word `suds` implies that there`s a word `sud.` Remembering Daniel Greene (see May 13, 2011).

Because of my expensive trip to the camera store (see February 15 above), you get this nice picture of ducks. I hesitate to tell you how much this squirrel photo cost. I`m looking forward to the thaw. `No Jarrett, we`re going this way. Stay on the path, Jarrett. Hey Jarrett, don`t play in the puddles.` Okay, I`ll tell you: I got a new lens for $_,___ so now I can take pictures of stuff far away.

Good hunting! -- aye, good hunting, wherever the forests call, But ever a heart beats hot with fear, and what of the birds that fall? PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Watching you watching me. I wanted to go outside, but also wanted to stay dry. The same parking company that needs to fix up my garage also needs to fix this little pothole. In February, rain is better than snow.

I never use a camera strap, so this must be important. My camera will be going to Europe (but without me). Why you should always carry your camera with you. How much longer until spring? Contrasts on First Street. My camera will be going to Europe with her.

February 19, 2022
It`s been almost three years since I last took pictures of color guard. Color guard is my favorite thing to photograph. The action moves very fast, but sometimes everything comes together nicely in a photo. For four hours, I sat in the front row and took pictures with my new lens (see February 16 above). I saw a lot of outstanding shows and great performers.

February 20, 2022
During the winter, I often don`t venture outside until about 3pm when the day is the warmest it`s going to get. Planning ahead for the holidays. The church has closed, but the steeple still stands. I took about 50 bird pictures, but the first one was best. `WATCH OUT! A photographer!`

February 21, 2022
Is it finished? (see October 13, November 6 and November 21, 2021) Squirrels help themselves to the birdseed. Textures of February. My new camera is on its way to Europe (see February 18 above), so I charged up my first camera from 2004. I can still get a decent photo from an obsolete camera.

February 22, 2022
I received a fundraising letter from myself. I`m using the baby camera again today (see February 21 above). I always liked how good it was at closeups. But this camera can`t do anything fast. My car doesn`t do well in fog. Candles, jazz, memories of the past, plans for the future.

February 23, 2022
Today I had lunch with Paul Laurence Dunbar. La Verne Sci again portrayed Paul`s friend Hallie Q. Brown (see February 12 above). The multi-talented Reginald Harmon again provided music and artwork (see February 9 above). Some things never change, and that`s a good thing (see May 1, 2005, and February 5, 2016). And then there was a dinosaur in the crosswalk.

February 24, 2022
With my baby camera, I don`t have to crop the photos. The baby camera can take really wide angle pictures. Yes, I tripped over it. A new cupcake shop opened near where I work. Uh-oh. The cupcake shop does more than feed hungry humans.

February 25, 2022
Telephoto. Wide angle. Wide angle. Telephoto. A photo taken for posterity.

Bellbrook High School. Troy High School. Kettering Fairmont High School. Milford High School. Pride of Cincinnati (and that`s real blood).

February 27, 2022
The way of all flesh. I KINGS 2:2 Many of the finest things are completely unnecessary. Fine. I didn`t want to take your picture anyway. The nice quiet (and cold) season is ending. Very soon, crowds of people will descend upon the neighborhood. Today was a preview of spring.

February 28, 2022
I told you my baby camera can`t handle anything that`s moving (see February 22 above) but I tried anyway. This vehicle definitely was not moving. The sun was moving, but not very fast. An 8 megapixel goose. My current cameras are about 30 megapixels. Using an obsolete camera forces me to be creative.
