November is not my friend. Danger: the birds weren`t eating the purple berries. Meanwhile, woodpeckers were feasting on the red ones. It was a sunny but cold morning in the garden. The bugs stayed warm under a blanket.

Scampering. I have three hearts. BEYONCE Personally, I prefer four wheels. AT&T wanted me to buy a new phone. They nagged me about it for a while, but eventually sent me one for free. Not only does my new camera recognize her face, it also focuses on her eyes.

The November sun invites me, and although the chill wind smites me . . . I will wander to the woodland where the laden trees await . . . And with loud and joyful singing I will set the forest ringing . . . With a happy song of praise for the golden sunlight blessing and the breezes` soft caressing . . . And the precious boon of living in the sweet November days. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR

Dayton, Ohio, is the home of funk music. This building, in its many forms, keeps drawing me back. Poet, scholar, and my friend Herbert Woodward Martin. Planning ahead for the inevitable. A tranquil scene on an autumn afternoon.

The end of another day that I will never live again. A young woman sprints to catch the bus, while I walk casually and think, `Oh well, there will be another one.` Allison has the same camera as I do. She had hers first. Artist Willis `Bing` Davis opens another gallery show (see January 20, 2011). Their three-way hug nearly knocked over that sculpture.

November 6, 2021
Progress report: green smudges have become trees (see October 13, 2021). Meanwhile, on the same concrete wall, there`s . . . this. How long until springtime? Other people`s rituals. A photo without any manmade stuff is a good photo.

November 7, 2021
I thought I was at a classical music concert. Long time no see. I visited a couple of my familiar favorites on campus (see March 14, 2005; January 2 and November 6, 2006; and March 18, 2008). Pray without ceasing. I THESSALONIANS 5:16 (see October 22, 2008) Time to update my computer desktop image (see November 3 above).

And you thought it was hard putting up Christmas lights. My new camera continues to impress. Three days until Veterans Day. Don`t put your tongue on that. Both waiting for the other to apologize.

November 9, 2021
We both ate breakfast at the same time. It`s brighter in the morning now, and pitch black when I get home. Still dealing with the consequences of February 20, 2021. Renewal took longer than expected (see September 18, 2021). One man works, the other man prophesies.

Banksy visits Dayton. Lunchtime exercise. I can`t stop fall from happening, so I might as well take pictures. I got no deeds to do, no promises to keep. Life, I love you, all is groovy. PAUL SIMON I wither, I fall, like the autumn-kissed leaf. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR

I`ve been photographing Puzzle of Light for a LONG time (see August 25, 2017). My favorite French peasant girl. We interrupt this jazz concert for some pipe organ music. Keeping an eye on things. Only the really cool kids had 64 crayons.

November 12, 2021
Say it three times fast: fish scale siding. Forgot to set the alarm this morning. The bustling metropolis of Dayton. Art is flowering everywhere. Toyland.

November 13, 2021
Access to last year`s volleyball tournament was tightly restricted, but I was able to take some photos this year. One team had a culturally-insensitive name, and the announcer never said it over the PA system. When I say Blue, you say Streaks. Blue! STREAKS! Blue! STREAKS! Blue! STREAKS! I don`t like pain, so I could never play volleyball. I have no connection to the teams, but it`s worth $5 parking and $15 admission for a state championship.

CHECK: my new camera works with my old flashes. CHECK: I`m ready. All I need now are some cute kids. CHECK: cute kids supplied. She has more hair than I do. First photo by my new camera triggered remotely with my phone.

It`s pumpkin spice season. I don`t know -- what do you think? Are these too much for a Monday? Nice try, Nature. I`ll check back with you in the spring. I missed a squirrel jumping out of a tree, but I got this. What November feels like.

November 16, 2021
A mirror on downtown. Danger awaits on every crosswalk (notice the red light). No surfers today. What`s happening at the river today: nothing. This is the time of year that I take pictures of bananas.

November 17, 2021
Fall is a verb. Can you help me identify this bird? The cycle spirals down. In the spring, it will rise up again. People. I just don`t get people. Leaf 3 of 3.

November 18, 2021
Beethoven incognito (see June 19, 2014). This is the time of year that I take pictures of pianos. Please step to the next counter. I pay money to park in this garage. Maybe they could use some of it to buy lights. There`s an eclipse later. I`ll be asleep.

November 19, 2021
I warned you about crossing the street (see November 16 above). The flag has been replaced (see October 25, 2021), so this became a more interesting photo. That`s a big tree for one person to decorate. I missed a lot of things in 2020, but not the elves. Have a nice trip. See you next fall.

November 20, 2021
It was cold, but at least I had on a jacket and sweatshirt. At this point, I had visions of `Doctor Zhivago.` She skipped a volleyball game to make this photo shoot. This is probably my last outdoor photo shoot this year. Sometimes everything just comes together.

November 21, 2021
Life is full of simple pleasures waiting to be enjoyed. I can`t get enough fungus. Wispy blue ferns have sprouted (see November 6 above). Attracted by red, I crossed the street for this picture. Some people just leave the leaves.

November 22, 2021
My view for most of the day. Only after I get in my car and turn on the headlights can I see where I am (see November 18 above). You can eat inside an igloo at Mudlick Tap House. It`s that time of year that I take pictures of decorations. I just kept adding ingredients until the skillet was full.

November 23, 2021
Autumn in the city. Dog is my copilot. Normally I sympathize with the cyclist, but not this time. A tiny leaf hitching a ride on a bubble. Resistance is futile.

November 24, 2021
I had a Zoom meeting at 9am. I had another Zoom meeting at 10am. I had another Zoom meeting at 11am. I had another Zoom meeting at 12pm. I had another Zoom meeting at 1pm.

November 25, 2021
Thanksgiving tradition (see November 26, 2020). The Hooded Merganser`s white head patches are fan-shaped and conspicuous when crest is raised. NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC FIELD GUIDE TO THE BIRDS OF NORTH AMERICA I drive a short way and see different kinds of birds. Current situation. I can`t get enough fungus (see November 21 above).

November 26, 2021
Part of the neighborhood watch team. Eat dessert first. After dinner, it`s play time. What are you thankful for? Someone is getting ready for Christmas already.

November 27, 2021
Autumn is the first step toward the horror of winter. Trees keep us all alive, so I`m stumped why people cut down so many of them. It`s Small Business Saturday. Burying a Snickers bar to eat during the winter. You`ve got mail.

November 28, 2021
Reflections on a calm pond. The theme for today. Windblown leaves stick to anything. I took a picture like this years ago. I took a picture like this yesterday.

November 29, 2021
More pictures of leaves today, just to change things up. You don`t need a hardhat if you`re on the roof, obviously. When it`s twelve o`clock, we climb the stair. We never knock, for nobody`s there. BILLY ROSE `HALT! Let`s see yer vaccination card!` Squirrel condo.

November 30, 2021
I take photos of this train every year, but this time I had to stand on the sidewalk and shoot through the window. Well-intentioned birds are moving in. Homage to Charles Sheeler. Not a black and white photo, but you wouldn`t know it. I make photos while the sun shines and it`s not cold.
