Why is there no action figure of a photographer? Surely at a table this size someone knows me, but nobody said, `Hey Adam, do you want my cheesecake?` Dusk in the garden. I had a dream about macaroni and cheese. It came true. Ready for my first indoor concert in 20 months.

The orange pail he`s holding means they won a prize in the costume contest. Another prize winner. Note the horse has binoculars. Because I`m blissfully ignorant about popular culture, I don`t recognize most of the costumes or characters. There was a lot of creativity, and silliness, on display. I wasn`t a judge, but this would`ve gotten my top prize.

What do you like on your salad? Roll on. Safety hat for witches. Bloom where you`re planted. Why does this have to happen every year?

October 4, 2021
Nobody said my pictures had to be pretty. Lots of people around as I took this. I don`t mind them. Some human thought that this looks better than the sky. I recently had the chance to sing The Star Spangled Banner (see October 1 above), but the mask ruled it out. The accessible entrance is still inaccessible (see March 30, 2021).

No that`s fine. You go ahead. I`ll just wait here. This represents the end of pleasant days for me. They aren`t murder hornets, but maybe aggravated assault hornets. I`d rather show you John Patterson`s horse than John Patterson. It`s a long, unhappy story . . . My camera said, `You want me to focus on WHAT?`

Soon to be smashed in the street. Leaf on leaf. More free food in the Oregon District (see September 21, 2021). Shop local. Every new pizza is a landscape for me to discover.

October 7, 2021
Thank you for keeping the bug population down. I didn`t have the right lens for bugs, but I got by. I expected the honeybees to fly around the purple flower petals, but they were obsessed with the stem. This cardinal was also looking for bugs. Wegerzyn Garden is the place to go for pictures.

October 8, 2021
In just a short while, the weekly confinement of the Oregon District will be over (see March 26, March 28, April 11, April 16, April 30, June 14 and July 6, 2021). Fall fell, into a puddle. I waited in vain for someone to go by and cast a shadow. Remembering the robot emissary (see June 23, 2013). Evening falls in the Oregon District.

October 9, 2021
Sorry, but I just have to kinda laugh because people in the stands are taking pictures with their little phones. Did he or didn`t he? He didn`t. `Hi, my name`s Evan and this is my helmet.` There were lots of touchdowns to cheer for. Once he shook this defender, there was nobody in front of him but me. Another touchdown for the home team.

October 10, 2021
This wasn`t what I planned to take pictures of today. I made arrangements to take fall portraits of somebody. I got to the park early and waited for my person. But apparently my person spent the day at Kings Island. However, no trip to the park is a waste of time.

When the computer goes stupid. Just a guy and his camera bag. You SHOULD look worried. Winter is coming. Starlings seem to love the color red. These fashions are so great, you`ll lose your head!

At 9:53am, I walked out of my office and cracked my watch on the door frame. Hours later, I looked at it... A presidential pose. Someone`s always digging a hole in downtown Dayton. Planning ahead. I wondered if this downtown icon would be knocked down, but apparently not since it`s being repainted.

October 13, 2021
I take pictures of lots of mural projects around downtown Dayton, but this one is on my street so it matters more. A typical day at the radio station. `9-1-1 dispatch, what`s your emergency?` Uh, there`s a guy on Main Street with a rifle and he looks really mad. Cue `The Mary Tyler Moore Show` theme song. Tiny people continue the work (see October 12 above).

October 14, 2021
Tonight went better than last month (see September 9, 2021). I didn`t walk out in the middle of a song. Jim Leslie plays drums with a wide spectrum of colors. Intermission: a sign says `Please don`t throw gravel into the fountain,` which probably just gives people the idea. I didn`t know that `Autumn Leaves` was a French song. Also, I didn`t know that Jimmy Leach could scat. Even when bending over, Christian Berg stands tall among jazz bassists in the Dayton area.

I was in an isolated place and it`s possible that no human had seen these flowers before. And I bring them to you. It`s satisfying when I can get the shot I want and then back away without the bird or butterfly flying off. Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. I couldn`t quite believe what I was seeing at first, but I`m a very rational person, so I observed until I believed. Chapter 8 of `The Hobbit` by J. R. R. Tolkien.

October 16, 2021
Offense. Defense. Wright State has it all. Leader and playmaker. Ready for anything (see September 23, 2021).

October 17, 2021
Sunset photos at 5:30pm. Something`s wrong here. This comes out of the dirt. Be grateful for the dirt. Garbage can`t. Face to the wall. Basically the same as October 5 above, but with heels.

October 18, 2021
Long after we`re gone, trees will continue to grow. If I sat down on one, I might not be able to get up again. Shouldn`t you be migrating somewhere right now? Golden hour lasts less than an hour. Perfection is a temporary condition.

October 19, 2021
They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. ISAIAH 9:2b Fall is all right, but it leads to an undesirable destination. Symmetry is its own reward, especially on a sunny day. NOW LEASING. I see London, I see France. The mothballs aren`t working (see September 22, 2021).

October 20, 2021
Meetings ain`t what they used to be. Old buildings can be successfully put to new uses, but still there are always new ones being built downtown. When people die, they become ghosts -- but cute ones. The most popular neighbors on my street aren`t human. It`s been a long time, old sport.

October 21, 2021
2468, who do we appreciate? Today was a preview of winter. A little chaos keeps things interesting. I went to a concert and didn`t even bring a camera. We`ve been together a long time, but I`ve found another (see March 21, 2013).

October 22, 2021
Drop me a line. There were no bees today. Zero. Seeya in the spring! I have a total of ten photos from the past two days. That`s a bad sign. There`s no need to wonder about the meaning of life when nature is constantly showing us. Things got a little out of control.

October 23, 2021
The legendary bicycle kick came early in the first half. A lesson in manual focus. Un. Stop. Pubble. The ref in yellow took a lot of abuse from both teams. With one minute left, Wright State got the winning goal.

October 24, 2021
There`s supposed to be a parade right now. On the brighter side, this is the final weekend of Out on Fifth. I was the only person who showed up for the parade. After the non-parade, I attended an opera with about 100 other people in the 2,300 seat Schuster Center. Raspberry tea can make a rainy day seem better. Big things coming for PLD`s 150th birthday in 2022.

October 25, 2021
Things have frayed a bit (see January 20, 2021). Testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. ABRAHAM LINCOLN This is Jay, walking. Did you see that movie `West Side Story`? Copper roof tiles in various stages of oxidation.

October 26, 2021
I hope this person was able to outrun traffic. Sunset happens about five minutes after I get off work. So that`s what they were painting (see October 12 above). This is probably as close as I`ve ever gotten to a heron. Like me, they`re uncomfortable being around people. No room to roost.

October 27, 2021
I brought home a new baby (see October 21 above). A pirate`s favorite camera: `Shoot the cannon, ARRRR!` First shot with my new camera. A new level of artistry. Second shot: raspberry tea. I also had to buy a new type of memory card. It was an expensive day.

October 28, 2021
This is how much I got for my old camera (see October 21 above). This is A LOT less than the new one cost. Another evening of sitting on the living room couch working through the owner`s manual of my new camera. Raspberry tea with low ISO. Raspberry tea with high ISO. Raspberry tea with high ISO and noise reduction.

October 29, 2021
I finally took my new camera outside -- and it rained. Remembering Johnny Morehouse (see December 29, 2020). How I feel about fall. Tiffany & Co. created a custom bronze plate for Paul Laurence Dunbar`s gravestone. In 1908, it cost $180. He`s still dead (see November 3, 2013).

October 30, 2021
Mr. Adam was told the photos were at 2, so Mr. Adam got there at 1:45. Mr. Adam stood around a long time. She`s a wonder (see October 26, 2019). I can`t understand what Nova sees in that ape. I`m still figuring out my new camera (see October 27 above). Someday when I move out of the Oregon District and into a retirement community, life is going to be pretty dull.

October 31, 2021
The parade got rained out last week (see October 24 above). This week the weather was better and lots of people participated. Because of the schedule change, this dance troupe was able to perform (so I guess the rain was a good thing). I followed the parade for the first 100 yards, then I sprinted to a theatre for a ballet performance. I`m still getting used to my new camera, but overall I think it performed pretty well during a busy weekend.
