I assume it`s finished (see July 20, 2020). America`s favorite rodent. I think the closer the picture is, the better the picture is. I`d totally fail as a landscape photographer. Nature run rampant, which is how it ought to run. Beyond the pink horizon.

Why should the dove of peace be white? Should I just go ahead and call an ambulance now? These are suddenly all over the Oregon District, and I can`t say I`m happy about it. It`s a girl! Smeared Susans.

August 3, 2020
Making progress (see June 20, 2013; August 14, 2014; August 3, 2017; and July 17, 2019). Heroic characters are often pictured wearing masks. It`s been a year. Right here, there are no lies, no conflicts and no crimes. And that`s because, right here, there are no people. And by the evening I was boiling water to drink.

Pondering the pond. Where are Ripley and her flamethrower when you need them? That`s lovely, dahling. Now look off to the side. Yes, just like that! Fabulous, dahling! Bigger than it looks. Of ten shots of this flower, this is (presumably) the best.

August 5, 2020
I`m still using up gift cards (see July 13, 2020). Very stand-offish, but ready to come close instantly if I offered food. Exercise? No, I`m just going to deteriorate gracefully. Ah, you`re back. You were not missed. Another exercise freak?

August 6, 2020
As small as a toothpick. What motivates a robin to take a bath? How it feels? How it smells? Do the other birds drop hints? I heard noisy blue jays overhead, and then watched this come fluttering down from the sky. I was grateful. Some people think that water comes from a faucet. Yes, I like bugs.

Franz Liszt`s new musical collaborator. Missing something? Words of comfort. Barber shop waiting room. Take it easy.

August 8, 2020
The champion. The challenger. It`s motorcycle season in the Oregon District. Just bees and things and flowers. ROY AYERS I got more cookies from my neighbor, but ate them before I could take a photo (see April 13, 2020).

August 9, 2020
Sun day. Sunday. Using up a lot of gift cards has expanded my culinary comfort zone (see August 5 above). Plus I`m getting fat. They`re growing on trees. USA STRONG. THANK YOU HEROES.

August 10, 2020
I went to a different park today and found where all the monarchs hang out. All the other birds saw me coming and flew away. Somebody told me there was a snowy egret around here, but this is all I found. On the hunt for small, slimy, scaly things. Beneath the Helena Street bridge.

August 11, 2020
Break free from your restraints. I had an umbrella in my pocket, just in case. Don`t waste your whole life looking back. Rainy Leaf No. 2. Guess where I went today.

August 12, 2020
Orville Wright sacrifices a little personal liberty to wear a mask, knowing it can help protect the health of others (see August 14 below). Overcome challenges. Do hard things. Nearly slain by scooterists (see August 5 above). Just do it. What`s all the hubbub, bub?

August 13, 2020
Good morning. I haven`t seen many hummingbirds lately. Scenes from a prairie. The highlight of the day -- or, the week, actually. This spider web is out of service. Please try again later.

August 14, 2020
CORRECTION: Orville Wright has decided that flag-waving liberty is more important than the health of others (see August 12 above). Watching out for more protest (see June 1, 2020). Free car wash! Talking things over. Free shoe wash!

August 15, 2020
I only had to go the backyard to get this picture. This is, I admit, a perfunctory photo. And just like that, perfunctory is followed by perceptive. Among the paths to Eden. Someone needs to wash my dishes.

August 16, 2020
When you park your car in the Oregon District, be careful not to open the door and hit a hitching post. Tell Hugh I said hello. Call an exterminator! The mice are having little mice. Better than anything on TV. Step one of a very important process (see April 19, 2020).

August 17, 2020
Have you met my friend Sam? A good nature photographer needs to be able to notice a small green dragonfly in green grass. Breakfast. `Gotta keep my eyes open, because there are usually chipmunks around -- oh!` I know Wegerzyn very well (see July 31, 2020). The culmination of an already successful morning.

August 18, 2020
Orville has begun taking malaria medication and is no longer concerned about the virus (see August 14 above). Raindrops keep falling on my plants. One broken scooter. I`d call that a good start. I`m personally responsible for the nation`s coin shortage. The scarcity of resources inevitably results in conflict.

August 19, 2020
Awww, it`s so cute when it takes a nap on the couch. In the building where I work, the lobby lights got turned off in March and there`s little reason to turn them on. It was a quiet evening in the park. Be careful taking pictures of clouds in a busy parking lot. It`s trash collection day.

August 20, 2020
Founded in 1852. Closed up shop in 2017. A large shadow moved across the ground. I looked up. A downtown restaurant`s cry for help. The first day of my new diet got off to a rough start. `Subs so fast you`ll freak,` says his shirt. I freak when they ride their delivery bikes through red lights and the wrong way down the street.

August 21, 2020
Your rodent of the day. Gotta shoot `em while I can. The change is coming soon. Without the droplets, it would be an invisible trap. Color guard in time of corona. Love in time of corona.

August 22, 2020
While everything else is canceled, horse events go on. Before getting on a horse, riders go over the course. I prefer a cross-country course out in the open. If it weren`t for horse events, I`d never see corn fields. It was hot, sunny and dusty, and I stood around for hours. But I`d do it again next weekend, if I could.

August 23, 2020
F-22s from Florida flee a hurricane and come to Dayton. Liberty! Just another Saturday in Dayton. I can see clearly now. A drummer knows to always bring spare sticks.

August 24, 2020
Instead of a mask, Orville is trying a new method that he heard about on Fox News (see August 18 above). Big Blue Marble. Turn around now or get wet. Other people`s photo shoots. There was a moment of cognitive dissonance when I opened this letter and began reading words that I wrote.

August 25, 2020
During my trip to the pond today, there were birds, fish, bugs and turtles, but this is the only photo worth keeping. Behind the scenes. I left the pond for the prairie and got better results. This monarch was elusive, but I triumphed in the end. Oh, the photos you DON`T see! You only see the best.

August 26, 2020
Inside every musical instrument case, there is a story. The gloves make me wonder where this flutist played. Keeping the beat. A clarinet that was played in Michigan in the 1950s. Yes, I did that too, a long time ago.

August 27, 2020
I finally used my last gift card (see August 5 above). Expectations of Subway were low, and I was right. To get the full value of the gift card, I had no choice but to order lots of cookies. An iconic tree in the Oregon District park is dying (see September 17, 2012). The book nook in the Oregon District now serves food. Meeting of the minds.

August 28, 2020
How many more dragonfly days will I have? The great, dreaded change is coming. Once again, the bluejays were loud overhead (see August 6 above) but they didn`t drop a feather for me. Mourning dove in the morning. Where are you off to? Nobody knows.

August 29, 2020
I didn`t think I`d go to this event today, but what else is going on? Don`t mess with Texas. Parental fan club. Horse human harmony. Nobody jumped over anything (see August 22 above).

August 30, 2020
This cicada wasn`t dead, it was just hanging out on my car as I went to the store. It wasn`t there when I got back. Eviction? Divorce? Practical joke? Home makeover? It took a pandemic to make Phil Collins relevant again. Catch anything good? Taking it to the street.

August 31, 2020
Still alive for another day. That`s worth celebrating! The culmination of 15 photos and much distrust. Repainting the giant paw prints (see August 2 above). Cold as ice. Two down (see August 18 above). Making progress.
