The painter asked for paper and a marker to make a `Wet Paint` sign. Because the painter didn`t have one. Cold, windy and rainy: I`ll just stay in here if that`s okay. The evolution of the chair. Driveby photo. Aww, thank you.

After a day of terrible photos, perfection presents itself. There won`t be hummingbirds at this time of day, I said. What do I know? Nearing the end of its brief life. We can learn from bees. I wanted to take pictures someplace else today, but a wedding was going on there. Now I`m glad I came here. I feel the same way about macaroni and cheese.

Bogey at twelve o`clock! Smoke on! Ready for takeoff! Tora! Tora! Tora! Vive la France!

Orange cone details. Did you see that movie `2001: A Space Odyssey`? Nature flourishes from a pile of bricks in a vacant lot. Artwork or vandalism? `Are we there yet?`

I never looked up during the eclipse, then I do this. This is me going back to work after a long weekend. Have you met my friend Jack? `Everyone Welcome` says the sign. Great moments in evolution.

There was a bright marquee outside the theatre. There was a horse named Pinkie in the lobby. And film reels in the restroom. And popcorn at the concession stand. And a rambunctious little boy everywhere.

Note to approaching autumn: No thank you. Note to departing summer: Please stick around. LOVE PINK. Despite my intimidating presence, this bunny continued to calmly munch grass. I like watching goldfish in the pond.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to break down, and a time to build up. ECCLESIASTES 3:1 and 3 A food truck nearby was selling fish sandwiches. Meanwhile, the great cormorant was also fishing (see August 15, 2017 ). I think he`s cleaning up, but it`s hard to tell. When people ask, `What are you taking pictures of?` that usually means, `Take my picture.`

Walking through these woods this morning, I considered moving out here and just disappearing from the world. The blacksmith is really fired up about his job. She reminds me of that girl from December 8, 2004. She reminds me of that girl from October 8, 2006. She reminds me of that girl from November 10, 2010.

Birds have freedom, as well as a short and difficult life. It takes so little to start me whistling `A Felicidade.` There`s a guitarist in the vicinity. I told you. The calm before the storm.

September 11, 2017
The cheesecake is here, so the pledge drive can begin. I thought I heard a swarm of bees above me, but no. And now, today`s news. Summer isn`t over quite yet. I don`t create anything without saving it permanently, so I`m mystified by this street artist`s ephemeral work.

September 12, 2017
A quiet moment at the start of a busy day. Oregon District details. Leo could use a good cleaning. The grass is taller than me. November came early this year.

September 13, 2017
Breakfast. Pigeons and starlings battle for air superiority. It rained last night. Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball. Ludwig is nearsighted.

September 14, 2017
Youthful beauty is fleeting (see September 12 above). Water you looking at? Leaf me alone. You can`t hold back nature. Where broccoli comes from.

Coworker A. Coworker B. Coworker C. Coworkers D and E. The end of a week-long fundraiser.

They`re drawn close together by their love of the game. Apparently this is a good thing: there was cheering. No matter what kind of game it is, there`s usually one player who dominates (see September 21, 2011). Why does rugby exist when we already have football? I have no idea what`s happening; I just take pictures.

The first face I saw this morning. I was surprised when a bee tried to land on my left ear. At night, water comes out of the air to feed the flowers. There was a family photo shoot going on nearby, with a screaming child and lots of baby talk, but we ignored it. It was another beautiful morning in the garden.

September 18, 2017
In the air, it`s a skein. On the ground, it`s a gaggle. A pair of A-10s flew over, perhaps hunting food trucks. During lunchtime I become a nature photographer. The bright color says to bees, `Come and get it!` Without pizza, life itself would be impossible.

September 19, 2017
There`s a story here. We only have one sun, one moon, one me, one you. MILEY CYRUS Urban cave painting. Overpopulation. She`s new in the neighborhood.

September 20, 2017
I guess it must be fall. Don`t put your tongue on that. Do the dew. Your daily bird. Everything is in balance.

September 21, 2017
Face to face with autumn. Reflections on the Great Miami River. Oh look, more leaves. On a day like this, I wouldn`t mind working outside. Well, on second thought, I like air conditioning.

September 22, 2017
When the sun is hot, it`s good to be skinny. Gratitude in glass. Do you see my point? That`s not going to last the winter (see April 24, 2017). One person`s trash is another person`s fifth photograph.

September 23, 2017
The horse show was the opposite direction, but the field was full of color, chasing birds and migrating monarchs. Barn cats don`t need no litter box or plastic mice. There`s a lot of hurry up and wait at equestrian events. It was so hot today, the riders weren`t required to wear their dark jackets, but it looks better when they do. This is the shot I got out of bed early for.

September 24, 2017
The last shreds of summer. I was already shooting this flower when the bee landed. Cardinals give away their location with their loud chirp. Drinking a dewdrop. Thirsty?

September 25, 2017
The purpose of life is to perpetuate life. Fake news. It`s a perfect morning for an early walk. Squad. O, ten times faster Venus` pigeons fly to seal love`s bonds new-made. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

Take cover! Teammates are there to lean on. You don`t have to be tall to be a good volleyball player. On the other hand, it helps to be tall. A win for the home team.

September 27, 2017
I`m the afternoon host -- still (see May 29, 2014; May 21, 2015; and September 28, 2016). Inexplicably, some people didn`t eat their ice cream. They just let it melt, instead of passing it to my table. This may be the last time I photograph field hockey, since they now charge admission. I like cheap photos. Every time any player had the ball, the crowd would yell `Go Emma!` or `Go Abby!` (see September 15, 2005). This game is all about teenagers running at each other with big sticks. I`m surprised there aren`t more deaths.

September 28, 2017
There are now at least three great cormorants living on the Great Miami River (see September 8 above). Just wrapping up lunch. A meeting of the Adam Alonzo Fan Club. No one`s eye is on the sparrows, though we live nearby. Who pays attention to their beautifully colored feathers? A new sight downtown. It`s going to be here a while.

September 29, 2017
You can rappel down this building and raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters at the same time. Bold pathfinder. My flash lit up these leaves nicely, then it died -- after nine years of service (see October 19 and 20, 2008). How to get killed in downtown Dayton. I avoid people, but am drawn to animals.

September 30, 2017
The ball is heading for the end zone . . . TOUCHDOWN! Meanwhile, on another field nearby . . . From the opposite end of the field, I could hear a CRACK as their bodies collided in midair. Meanwhile, on the sidelines, it`s the t-shirt toss.
