Current temperature reading. It`s Greek to me. For Pete`s sake, get me to the church on time. ALAN JAY LERNER A previous plan to restore the Arcade. It didn`t work. Happy faces downtown.

The bitter joke of winter: bright sun, freezing cold. We were both seven stories up. Good knight. Show some restraint. Veterans should get more respect.

Americans gave the world the airplane, but the French gave us this -- so I`d say we`re even. `Let`s make it blue,` someone in R & D said. For the month of February, I`m looking at feet (see April 2, 2016). If this book is so prophetic, why doesn`t it say anything about Michael Jackson? He was HUGE in 1984. Still haven`t gotten the hang of selfies.

It`s been a mild winter, but I still mildly hate it. Thank you for sharing your celebration with everyone. Wait -- something is ALIVE? The Monet bridge is being made more accessible. What lurks below the surface?

Be of good cheer. English is hard: one is a pom, and two are pom poms. Indoor events with loose photography policies are very helpful to me in the winter. Shy, quiet types are drawn to cheerleading. She was nice enough to change a light bulb up there.

A new Chinese restaurant has opened across the street, replacing the Chinese restaurant that was there before. Do I descry developing daffodils? I walked onto the new rocks for the first time today, wondering what foolish things people will do out here. I had to duck a goose. The hungry, hungry Caterpillar.

Why is it moving? Walking on Wayne. As two girls walked by, one of them said, `Chuck Berry.` Hold on a little longer. You`ve made it this far. Window on Wayne.

Some days, `dinner` is loosely defined. Pictures one takes inside on a cold winter night. Eventually, I had no choice but to go outside. I`m calling it right now: this is the last snow of winter. A crosswalk is a dangerous place.

My windshield is my snowshield. Nice coat. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. MATTHEW 25:35 A black and white photo, in color. This was the highlight of my day.

Glockenspiel virtuoso. She still refuses to wear socks (see December 26, 2016). The flash is pointed at the flower. The resulting photo is too bright. The flash is pointed at the ceiling. The resulting photo is just right.

The university recently eliminated 23 employees, but is still able to operate this huge arena for a tiny audience. The mascot is named Rowdy, but I always think `Rudy.` This acrobat came all the way from Russia to risk her life in front of a handful of spectators in Dayton, Ohio. Meanwhile, on the sidelines. Oh yeah, there was a game going on.

Flowers indoors -- no big deal. Flowers outdoors -- reason for celebration. Geese in the vicinity: watch where you step. Inappropriate. The signs say `Do not feed the wildlife.` The duck says, `I won`t tell.`

We`re all a bit pale on the first trip back to the beach. In another country it would be a soccer ball. I hope a nice matching set of whitewalls will wash up. 12:03am 6:23pm

Not very smooth. Eccentricity in the center city. Architectural gumbo. It looks good. It tastes better. Someone put a lot of work into this Valentine`s Day tree.

Blonde Brooke. Mesmerizing Mary. Beautiful Bailey. Angelic Annie. Amusing Ashley.

MVP Jazz Quartet - Pianist Donald Brown. MVP Jazz Quartet - Bassist Ray Drummond and saxophonist Bobby Watson. MVP Jazz Quartet - Drummer Marvin `Smitty` Smith. So, I was this close to Bobby Watson tonight. A lead sheet doesn`t give much information. You know that jazz musicians just make up what they play, right?

Future geologist. So many changes to the river. What will the effect be? And still the changes continue. Despite what the calendar says, spring began today. Still getting use out of this shot (see March 25, 2005).

Teenage girls spend a Saturday morning doing things that would literally kill me if I tried them. The law of gravity was temporarily waived today. Flying free. Gymnastics is hard to shoot, but I got a few good ones. As usual, I took pictures that parents would pay lots of money for, but I just walked out anonymously afterward.

February 19, 2017
It must be President`s Day weekend. `You will hit the ball into the net. You will hit the ball into the net. You will hit the ball into the net.` Whatever you do, don`t make the ginger angry. Volleyball can make it much easier to get into college. Meanwhile, in another room nearby.

Fish in the sea, you know how I feel . . . Blossom on a tree, you know how I feel . . . This old world is a new world, and a bold world for me . . . Oh, freedom is mine, and I know how I feel . . . It`s a new dawn, it`s a new day, it`s a new life for me, and I`m feeling good! LESLIE BRICUSSE

Stars when you shine, you know how I feel. Oh wait -- that was yesterday. I take some pleasure in seeing autumn crushed by the ravenous maw of spring. `Apologize? Why should I? HE should apolgize!` It`s getting close to that time of year when I take far too many pictures of birds. That`s why I take these pictures.

February 22, 2017
The face of downtown Dayton. The facade of downtown Dayton. `Wicked` and `The Lion King` didn`t interest me, but this does. I wonder what it must be like to live in fear all the time (see October 23, 2014). My fifth photo of the day is often the most desperate.

February 23, 2017
Literature or litter? The idiot driver of the day. We struck water! One duck keeps an eye on me so the others can nap. The ice skating rink is melting.

February 24, 2017
If I was a fish, I`d be nowhere near those rocks. Missing something? The river is nature`s trash can. I took a quick trip to Paris during lunch. Still looking good after 150 years.

ATTENTION! Daffodils in February. What did I do to deserve this? I sense a theme developing. Indecision. It was a rectangular day.
