You can`t always get what you want. MICK JAGGER Where exactly is Santa Claus Lane? As long as I`m walking back and forth to work, I might as well take pictures along the way. There was nobody on his lap and no one waiting in line.  Maybe people have caught on about Santa Claus. When I reach the tattoo shops, I know I`m nearly home.

Photography is the power to gather roses in winter. Decking the halls. `Could you give me $50 for the powder room, dahling?` This design by Morris Howard, painted by Amanda Westbeld and BK Elias, brings beauty to downtown. These halls have been decked.

You put your left foot in and you shake it all about. Leafy greens. My smile for the day came when I smelled the rosy scent from these sunny flowers on December 5. A calm afternoon on the Great Miami. My photos have a lot of depth.

I`m so glad someone wrecked my car, since I`ve taken some unusual photos as I walk back and forth to work. There`s no motion here.  This is how it really looks. There`s motion here. I had an emotional reunion with my car today (see November 29, 2016). Now that I have a car again, I went back to the parking garage and discovered that it`s still leaking. I like to take edgy photographs. Wish upon a star. Okay, go ahead and plug in the dog.

And you think your house is cold. I think I may have seen sugarplum fairies today. I got a Sue in Sioux City, waitin` by the railroad track -- keeps her money in a `tater sack.  JOHNNY CASH Have yourself a corporate Christmas. The one redeeming thing about the trillion-dollar holiday is that a lot of the money spent goes to people in need.

Too bad I work until 6:00pm. I`m really Chopin at the bit to get to the Christmas party. Technology will allow me to sneak away to the party. Does two years in a row make something a tradition?  (See December 2, 2015). Will it hold up this year? (See December 20, 2015).

I heard the bells on Saturday their old familiar carols play. I was the only one not dressed in red or green. There`s a lot of sickness going around right now. I can get better pictures during a rehearsal. `O tannenbaum, o tannenbaum.`

My Christmas season begins with the holiday concert of the Kettering Children`s Choir. A lot of strong friendships are formed in choir. Always keep your eye on the director. The audience was told not to take pictures, but I can shoot as much as I want because I`m special. And now for something completely different.

Before long, today`s temperature will seem warm. If the animals ever rise up against us, we`re in trouble. This guy knows how to rock and roll. Too cold to kneel, I took this from an awkward crouch. The wind MIGHT have blown all that grass in there, but what about the rocks?

Birds of a feather freeze together. Gone with the Schwinn. There`s always someone having a worse day than you. I am grateful for the water that gives us life, and yet . . . It only gets worse from here on in.

Maybe I went overboard on my decorations this year. Here we come a-caroling among the leaves so green.  Here we come a wand`ring, so fair to be seen. Remember Louis Armstrong on `West End Blues`? Only a skilled photographer can get bird photos in this weather. Making a splash.

It`s that time of year when nature tries to kill us. By buying online, I avoid going to shopping malls. But the disadvantage of online shopping is that things sometimes get banged up during shipment. Abe Lincoln, the original man in black. The winds of change are blowing in our country.

I despise ineffective solutions. While everyone else walks or drives past, my mind is blown by the tiny ice formations inside this leaf. It must be nice not to have a job. There will always be whitewater in the river now.  Is this a good thing? Flotsam and jetsam.

Going nowhere fast. This was attached to the big blade on a snowplow. These are difficult days for birds, and for photographers. The 114-year-old Arcade may get a new lease on life. I don`t think this is how Grandma made mac-n-cheese.

Peeling apples (and nicking fingers) for apple strudel. The dough is kneaded, violently thrown and then rolled. It`s carefully stretched by hand until thin and enormous. After being filled with apples, it`s rolled into a cylinder. Kids are measured to see if they`re big as the strudel.
