If it was me, I would insist on an electric starter. Making a deposit. Is it coincidence that squirrels are tree-colored? There was a highway ramp on one side and an alley on the other, but you can`t tell in this photo. What did the buffalo say to his boy when he went away? `Bison.`

The walls of this office were once decorated with my photos (see June 1, 2005). I wonder if they`re still up? I was distressed when I saw this, then I remembered that my winter coat, hat, scarf and gloves weighed 4 pounds. Hey look -- pictures of buildings! That`s something new. SOOC: Straight Out Of the Camera. Window washers beware.

Pass the salt. Patches of broken ice went floating down the river. I decided not to go skating. `Does he have food down there?` The streets sure were icy today. [How icy were they?] They were so icy, I had to drive a Zamboni to work! I`ve taken lots of pictures inside my creepy parking garage. This is the outside. It`s literally falling down.

February 4, 2015
A chip off the old block. It will be four months before I consider wearing shorts. There was no ice on the river today. Some people see the world in black and white. `Who goes there?`

I`m calling it: this is winter`s last blast. No more snow. Early spring. Your daily building. It`s not a building. It`s a Dodge -- with a dent. High above Third and Main. The traps are set, but will the bear come?

Keigo Hirakawa, a jazz pianist, has released a CD that features my photos in the design (see April 18, 2014). The CD is called `And Then There Were Three,` and the photos show groups of three (see November 13, 2013). I designed the CD booklet, with excellent guidance from Keigo, who also selected the photos (see May 14, 2013). Keigo`s trio plays great jazz, and I often listened to their music as I worked on this project (see April 21, 2014). Behind the scenes for that last shot. The glass of raspberry iced tea makes everything more tolerable.

Now and then, in marsh and fen too muddy for the feet of men, where neither bird nor beast has stirred, the spotted bullfrog`s croak is heard. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Lots of water, but I`m glad it`s not snow. She needs more sunblock. 41 days until spring. It was a 50-degree day in February.

Beware of dog. Looking for a soulmate. Remind me to reshoot this when the sky is blue. Nature always wins. Walk in kitchen. Go to sink. Turn on faucet.

February 9, 2015
Feed my daily pictures into a computer and it will be able to figure out where I live and work. Even as I took this dull picture, I didn`t want to. Adam`s apple. Again with the blue bowl. These distinguished gentlemen should meet those fine ladies of January 1, 2015.

Pray, what can dreams avail to make love or to mar? The child within the cradle rail lies dreaming of the star . . . But is the star by this beguiled to leave its place and seek the child? The poor plucked rose within its glass still dreameth of the bee . . . But, tho` the lagging moments pass her Love she may not see. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR

Oh to have you in May, to talk with you under the trees . . . Dreaming throughout the day, drinking the wine-like breeze . . . Oh it were sweet to think that May should be ours again . . . May brings the flowers to bloom, it brings the green leaves to the tree . . . And the fatally sweet perfume of what you once were to me. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR

Fortunately, I drive the same route to work every day, so I don`t really need to SEE where I`m going. I hate getting snow on my new car! The parking garage window, refracted in little droplets. The state that`s round on both ends and IH in the middle. And then the sun came out.

February 13, 2015
The deception of winter: sunny, but not warm. The guardian of downtown Dayton. The person who lives there probably has no idea about the detailed brickwork that surrounds this window. You saw these cables before on January 27, 2015. Lunchtime diversion.

February 14, 2015
How awkward! I ran into my ex this morning. So I must be in the Oregon District then. The third century saint would be pleased to see his name in lights. I just want something to hold on to and a little of that human touch. BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN The checkout girl at Kroger gave me a chocolate heart for Valentine`s Day. And I didn`t bring her anything.

February 15, 2015
If I`d gone out in the cold today, I might have literally died. Why do I live where I might die if I go outside? So I stayed inside today and read my excellent new book. Bananas: the mellow fruit. What a shame February is such a short month (see December 30, 2014 and August 18, 2012). Love is fleeting (see February 14 above).

February 16, 2015
There are 32 days until spring. But can I survive today? I know nothing about cards and had to look up what this is (a seven of spades), and was disappointed to find it has layers of symbolism that gullible people seem to believe. When it`s cold and snowing and a machine laughs at you. My refuge in the time of storm. Another day of pictures taken indoors. Getting bored yet?

February 17, 2015
Don`t put your tongue on that thing! The noonday sun did little to make things warm. I think this sums it up nicely. We`ve entered that time of year when my photos can be described as Stuff with Snow on It. When it`s safer to walk in the street than on the sidewalk.

February 18, 2015
This is in a park where homeless people tend to gather. Looks like a compassionate person is trying to help them. `STOP SNOWING!` Here`s my address and five dollars. Thanks so much! As I recall, a bus has one seat with a heater underneath it. `That`s the way it crumbles . . . cookie-wise.` C. C. BAXTER in `The Apartment` (1960).

February 19, 2015
Does it go any higher? On the radio, I told people they shouldn`t go outside today. I guess he doesn`t listen to the right station. No rich people on their balconies today. Okay, that`s four pictures . . . just one more. Steps to nowhere.

February 20, 2015
All of today`s pictures were taken from the driver`s seat. Leaving the creepy parking garage and heading home. I`ve had my car two months and spent only $12.50 for gas. It takes a lot of talent to do this while driving at 65 MPH. You really don`t want to get stuck driving behind me.

February 21, 2015
Say it ain`t snow! There are plenty of seats available on the patio. I`m looking backward to warmer days. There are many uses for a purple towel. `Berries again? What I wouldn`t give for a worm just now.`

February 22, 2015
Don`t sit there in the snow! You`ll catch your death of cold. This is an Emily Dickinson poem waiting to happen. `STOP SNOWING!` Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave? It warms my heart to see Dunbar`s grave blinged out in such a tasteful way. Finally Paul gets some recognition!

February 23, 2015
Steaming cold. It`s slowly melting. Steaming cold. High tech snow removal. Steaming cold.

February 24, 2015
I had an aria for lunch. I saw this yesterday but didn`t have a chance to take a picture until today. Good thing it was another sunny day. Before. During. After.

February 25, 2015
Bored on the elevator while going to the fourth floor. Winter may finally be melting. Coots are dumb enough to migrate to Ohio for the winter. More building pictures! It took only three months for my camera to get repaired (see November 24, 2014). No more baby camera!

February 26, 2015
To be alone is not to be lonely. `Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.` Meet you at the corner. The nightmare of February. Building chunks.

February 27, 2015
Parking meters now accept credit cards, the better to take your money. Let`s slice this thing up and start eating! As pure as the driven snow. Winter is slowly melting (see February 16 above). It`s a Wes Anderson film festival weekend!

February 28, 2015
Real estate agents get no respect. I don`t watch TV. The real world is fascinating enough. I hate winter, though it makes for some good photographs. Some human made it hard for me to photograph this bird. `The committee has decided to turn down your proposal.`
