December 1, 2014
It`s Christmastime in the city. Honey, I shrunk the Ford. Waiting for the elevator -- nothing to do but admire myself. Conjunction Junction, what`s your function? I`m sorry, was it too early to stop by?

December 2, 2014
See, I told you not to be alarmed about the holes in the levee (see November 25, 2014). Need a cigarette break? Former tree. Three colors are okay. Three colors are not okay.

December 3, 2014
Trying to keep the U. S. Postal Service in business. Want minty fresh breath? Want rotten teeth? Push to talk. Yeah so, how big is YOUR compact disc collection? I navigate by the constellations to find my way home.

December 4, 2014
The last time you remodeled was in 1906? Did the architect foresee this perspective? December blossoms. Missing something? Can you guess where I am? I`ll give you one clue.

December 5, 2014
The view from Row B. When the concertmaster stood up to tune the orchestra, the man sitting next to me said, `That`s my daughter!` The Nutcracker sounds much better with a harp. It was so nice to have a good camera in my hands again. Oh yes, there was dancing too.

December 6, 2014
Ready for Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. She`s not dancing to The Nutcracker. Very cute -- now go wash your hands. Plastic bottle caps get turned into artwork. I`ve become an expert at spotting natural redheads.

December 7, 2014
What a nice engagement photo on the right (see February 16, 2014). Maybe this is the start of a new Christmas tradition. `Silent night, holy night.` I wasn`t the only one there with a camera. Tiny tot with her eyes all aglow.

December 8, 2014
Lost face. It`s sometimes better to hide presents in plain sight. Gibson Model C6. It`s a church wedding or nothing. We can`t elope. Did you know there`s a store that sells nothing but ugly Christmas sweaters? I have plans for this one.

December 9, 2014
A chocolate bar so big it has to be broken with a hammer. It`s rare for me to go anywhere at night, especially if it`s cold and rainy, but my ugly sweater project required it. Since I had taken hardly any pictures today, there was another good reason to go out tonight. Scenes from a Chevrolet. Shopping advice.

December 10, 2014
Somebody needs to say it: elves are creepy. With my good camera, I`d have to work to get this blur. With my baby camera, it just happens naturally. I will win the office door decorating contest. Hazel will soon be tall enough to play basketball. The joy that is macaroni and cheese.

December 11, 2014
`Tis the season for me to take pictures at lots of concerts. Warming up in the hallway before the show. How many kids does it take to hang imaginary mistletoe? Most choirs are not as interesting to photograph. Part of the entertainment took place offstage.

December 12, 2014
Reports of the death of disco have been greatly exaggerated. Urban luminaria: an idea whose time has not come. Of course, he was playing `The Little Drummer Boy.` Downtown Ambassadors keep the city looking its best. In a daring cost-cutting move that could save billions, Santa Claus considers making a list and checking it once.

December 13, 2014
Dress rehearsal. Pep talk before the concert. Tuning up. The serious shot. The silly shot.

December 14, 2014
For me, the Christmas season begins at the Kettering Children`s Choir concert. Do other people get photos like this? Not on your life. Math homework in the choir room during the break. The girl on the left remembered that I took a similar photo of her last year (see December 15, 2013). A great concert, but I think I caught a cold from somebody.

December 15, 2014
A common sight in this historic neighborhood. Safely surrounded by branches, the bird doesn`t fly away when I get close with my camera. It would look better with a little snow, but I`m glad it`s sunny and 52 degrees today. Dark vs. light. I think one of those choir kids gave me a cold.

December 16, 2014
Here are some other entries in the highly-competitive office door decoration contest. This one is nice because it includes free candy. See my ugly sweater theme on December 10 above. There are prizes at stake in this contest, but I don`t know what they are. I think I have this one beat.

December 17, 2014
The ideal Christmas scene (well, except for the cat). If they`d been following my daily photos, they`d know it`s dangerous enough to cross the street without jaywalking. Nothing worth shooting down here. How about up there? Cold? What cold? Community garden.

December 18, 2014
The Christmas party at work featured my mac-n-cheese. Fabulous gifts were exchanged, such as a vampire pig. Also highly prized was the Hello Kitty PEZ dispenser set. I myself scored this sweet camera. It`s FOCUS FREE. But inexplicably I did not win the door decorating contest.

December 19, 2014
We tasted some once, and she always swears: `I could live on them, Buddy.` A CHRISTMAS MEMORY by Truman Capote My baby camera has always been good at taking closeups, but that`s just my two cents worth. `Who Will Buy (My Sweet Red Roses)?` in the trash. Complexities. Children laughing, people passing, meeting smile after smile, and on every street corner you hear silver bells. RAY EVANS

December 20, 2014
During all the warm weather months, nobody worked on the building across the street. Now today it gets a roof. When society collapses, I plan to survive by living off my hoard of macaroni and cheese. The kitchen sink needs cleaned, but this is much more fun. The blue stripe supposedly proves that they`re authentic, but I could buy a lot of blue markers with $200. Didn`t go outside, didn`t open the door, didn`t say a word to anybody all day. Ah, this is living!

December 21, 2014
The sun goes down quickly on the winter solstice. I took pictures with my big camera and lens today. The baby camera could`ve never gotten a shot like this. Makes me think of Ireland. It`s supposed to. The first day of winter simply means that the Earth has begun to tilt slowly, ever slowly, back in the right direction. Window warp.

December 22, 2014
My 1996 Cavalier was all I needed for eighteen years. With surprising detachment, I traded in the Cavalier today. I had to scrape together my coins, but it was worth it. It took me minutes to decided which car to buy but hours to get it ready, so now it`s too dark to take a photo of it. And so instead I`ll take a disappointing picture indoors.

December 23, 2014
Adeste fideles. The car I bought yesterday is Barcelona Red. `Hey kids, did you know penguins can drink seawater and excrete the salt from their nasal passages? Yuk, yuk, yuk!` Some people had to work today. Too bad for them. I actually don`t eat eggs very often, but I think they`re a very photogenic food (see December 20 above).

December 24, 2014
Over the past several months, I worked on a photo book about redheads and I received the first copies today. It`s full of portraits of redheads. I`m sure you`ll want a copy. My long vacation is halfway over already. I spent the entire day concentrating on photo projects, but not really taking pictures. So you get this shot of a fork. Charlie Brown and Linus should see a hair loss specialist.

December 25, 2014
As you celebrate Christmas, remember those who are less fortunate. Behold, good tidings of great joy: there is mac-n-cheese. Ready for roast beast. What`s Christmas without a new iPhone? All is calm, all is bright.

December 26, 2014
Once more, with feeling. This is how people used to get around. This is how they get around now. Boxing Day at the historical park. A study in purple.

December 27, 2014
My neighborhood offers a wide range of services. Down and out, but others are up and coming in the spring. What is the sound of one hand freezing? Spherical selfie. Birds of a feather freeze together.

December 28, 2014
Today I went to a cemetery to try the alarm on my new car. It wasn`t quite loud enough to wake the dead. `Wait, did I leave the oven on?` Cemeteries are all about symbolism. So talented . . . so flawed. It is literally impossible to lock my keys in this new car.

December 29, 2014
Do you get enough fiber in your diet? Pardon our mess. Frank, don`t go into the street! Watch out for the -- Oh, Frank! Reflections on downtown.

December 30, 2014
All things being equal. I`m glad the pond inside my parking garage hasn`t frozen. Reflections on downtown. Wait, I just said that yesterday. From the alley looking east. Every year at this time, I carefully choose a calendar by a very talented photographer to hang on my refrigerator.

December 31, 2014
I clean the kitchen once a year on New Year`s Eve whether it needs it or not. I`m walking on gel! [Behind the scenes of the previous photo] In the owner`s manual of my car, nearly every paragraph ends with `may result in serious injury or death.` My Web site was popular a week ago, but I end the year not with a bang but a whimper.
