It`s the Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos. The Day of the Dead was observed in the summer, until meddlesome Europeans moved it to a cold time of year so it would coincide with their existing religious holidays. My fingers froze, thanks to meddlesome Europeans. My role in a parade is to run ahead, turn around and take pictures, and not get run over or be in anyone else`s shot. Death becomes her.

Hanging around Sixth Street. A shadowy symbol of my neighborhood. St. Francis is feeling much better (see June 30, 2013). Hang in there. Pickup truck portrait.

November 3, 2014
Did you hear about the new restaurant on the moon? The food is good, service is great, but there`s no atmosphere. For me, manual focus means UNFOCUS. Nobody told me it was going to be DARK after work. `Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal!` Quite possibly the greatest cartoon of all time. My neighborhood offers a wide range of services.

Deck the halls. It`s beginning to look a lot like Veteran`s Day. It was just about the last good day to put up decorations. It`s the most wonderful time of the year -- for DP&L. If it wasn`t moving, it got Christmas lights put on it.

November 5, 2014
Where did the bee go (see October 23, 2014). It was a monochromatic day. It`s too cold to play outside. At the crossroads. Westward ho!

November 6, 2014
A nature photo taken in the middle of the city. The latest offender (see October 22 and 27, 2014). IMPORTANT NOTICE Oh what a relief. Sorry, I don`t rake.

November 7, 2014
Out of the clear blue sky. Where I got my high school senior picture taken. Shiny. I was ready to go inside, then this guy came wheeling by. Shower curtain, artificial flowers, dollar bills. I`m ready for tomorrow`s photography workshop.

November 8, 2014
I saw pictures of this game published by a Cleveland newspaper. They were blurry and didn`t show any action. Not that I want to be a newspaper photographer in Cleveland, but I certainly could do a whole lot better. Don`t assume she`s trying to put the ball between the defender`s arms. This action happens too fast for thought. I took about 400 photos. You get to see five. The people beside her thought they were in the photo too.

Seen from the other side, these leaves are boring. The second law of thermodynamics: things fall apart. Reminiscent of the warm days of summer. Caught red-handed. The U. S. Air Force recently purchased 20 modern propeller-driven light attack planes for close air support.

November 10, 2014
Vanilla or chocolate? Can you spot the dancer in the group? They don`t build them like that anymore. Nice ride, dude! I`ve turned into the traffic light enforcer (see November 6 above), and learned to be very careful crossing the street.

Seeking Paul Laurence Dunbar at Woodland Cemetery. Seeking cardiovascular exercise at Woodland Cemetery. Here`s where Dunbar was buried in 1906. His current grave site is on a high hill elsewhere in the cemetery. `You`re right, it`s more roomy than it looks from outside.` Happy 29th birthday, WDPR-FM.

November 12, 2014
Cold and windy. Sometimes, days later, I look at a picture and wonder why. I look up a lot. Just in case. Have you met my friend Scarlet N. White?

November 13, 2014
My favorite ballerina. I guess his name is DAN. If people would dance in front of my camera every day, then I wouldn`t mind winter so much. I take a lot of bad pictures at a dance performance, but when the good ones come they`re easy to recognize. She`s dancing, spinning and leaping with an injured back.

November 14, 2014
If you go to the same dance performance twice, on the second night you already know when they`re going to leap. Michelangelo. I dunno, do my ankles look chubby to you? With their hair down, they feel LIBERATED. Try this with YOUR camera and see what you get.

Forty-year-old tree sacrificed for a two-month installation. Does he have to stay up there until after Christmas? Before placing the tree in the stand, cut one to two inches from the base of the trunk. NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION Downtown Dayton on a Saturday. Pre-election passion dissolves into post-election apathy.

November 16, 2014
Great invention, Thomas Edison, but it`s time to move on. I don`t like leaves, but they`re better than snow. The artist is disturbed enough already. Color bar. Remnants of someone else`s celebration.

November 17, 2014
It`s beginning to look a lot like you know what. Don`t complain about your car. Don`t complain it`s cold in your office. Don`t stick your tongue on that. SON, it`s cold!

November 18, 2014
I think you`ll like it. I hope it fits you. The streetlights come on around one o`clock now. The halls have been decked. You point a camera at me, I`ll point a camera at you. At least I get to go inside when I want to.

November 19, 2014
A colorful and symmetrical way of saying, `Stay out.` At least I get to go inside when I want to. It`s empty because everyone is WEARING their coats. I dunno, for some reason I just found this sign appealing. Soon to become part of an elaborate window display.

November 20, 2014
Thank you to whoever gave me this photographic gift. Hey, slow down. Where`s the fire? Apartment E. Big tree. Big job. Layers of downtown.

November 21, 2014
It all started long ago with candles. Does your life lack direction? Look down! Reflections on downtown. I rarely take a picture of an entire . . . anything. Lunchtime liaison.

November 22, 2014
They work hard to construct a robot . . . . . . only to have it destroyed in battle. To the victor goes the spoils. Oh, that`s gotta hurt! After each battle, bits of broken bot had to be swept away.

November 23, 2014
I`ll take a warm and dreary day over a bright and cold one. There are still 29 more days before winter even begins. My part of town. The lesson that nature teaches is that death is part of life. Yes, she`s cute, but kind of two-dimensional.

November 24, 2014
It may looks like tomato soup, but it`s to-MAH-to bisque. Not my lipstick, not my cup. It was hers. With sadness and a few tears, I sent it away for repair. Foiled again!

November 25, 2014
Moving on up. He was wearing a Santa hat that said `Naughty and Nice.` Don`t be alarmed about the holes in the levee. Perhaps a little skin moisturizing cream would help. With one pro camera out for repair, I`m reluctant to use my other pro camera just for daily photos (in case I drop it). So I have brought this baby camera out of retirement.

November 26, 2014
Let the countdown begin. Mugging for the camera. I found the arc. Did you know I was a rapper? How long before my Thanksgiving break begins.

November 27, 2014
Our daily bread. Let`s all stare into the punchbowl for a moment. We`ll light a candle for you. They`re thankful that they aren`t turkeys. Stupid kitchen tricks.

November 28, 2014
How can I be listening to myself on the radio? Using the baby camera, I see how the other half lives. Taking a good picture is hard with consumer equipment. How low can you go? I`m stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin` on, but that train keeps a rollin` on down to San Antone. JOHNNY CASH Wednesday felt like Friday. Today feels like Sunday.

November 29, 2014
Apple juice in my sunny kitchen. Birds are easy targets for my camera. I guess they don`t always land on their feet. This constitutes a sunny day in November. My neighbor the artist in her painting clothes.

November 30, 2014
If you can`t tell what this is, you must be totally blinds. NOTICE ME! The threat of rain all day, but no rain. This could very well be the last day of motorcycle season. `Hey, Ludwig! Over here! HEY!` Oh well, he can`t hear me.
