Shiny healthy people. I really tried not to take a picture of this building. I failed. Wait. Wait some more. And then the bird turns its head. Sparrow housing project. Three geese. Or was it six?

October 2, 2014
Starry, starry night (not the Julio Iglesias version). All I can say is, it looked a lot better in person. Orange, green and gray. Signs of autumn. Another sign of autumn: I take a useless picture indoors.

Call (937) 222-WDPR. A friendly phone volunteer will take your pledge. You contribution will be added to those of other donors. We`ll acknowledge your gift on the air. It`s that easy!

The chances of getting a photo like this are slim, but go ahead and push the button and you might just get lucky. Somber sparrow. Random girl in the forest. Fall is bustin` out all over. Hail was falling on my head as I took this.

They begin up here. They end up here. Here am I. Where art thou? Enjoy the ride while you may. And then the wind changed direction and I got wet.

October 6, 2014
Leaf strata. Who knew ducks like to eat stale bagels? No diving. I had plans to shoot something else tonight. Oh well. `Is that a camera?` Well, yes -- `What are you taking pictures of?` Uh, I -- `The beauty, right?` Sure, okay.

At the mouth of a resonant tunnel. Look -- my initials. The Wright brothers at sunset. A great place for an evening walk. The Wright brothers also invented the game controller.

October 8, 2014
It took a few months to get up here (see June 18, 2014). It felt strange to be at the same elevation as Private Fair. Stars and stripes and ripples. Elvis Presley and John F. Kennedy stayed at the Biltmore, but neither one of them would be caught dead there now. The bird seem confused to find me on its level.

October 9, 2014
Hood ornament. Memento mori. The city of Dayton, reflected in a red Impala. I often feel like the dim bulb among bright lights. Who wants Adam Alonzo photo notecards? You do.

October 10, 2014
Cold, dark and raining. Looks like a good night for a drive. Just like Weegee, prowling the dark city with my camera. Under the glow of the golden arches. A modern Stonehenge. It was either this or boring pictures inside my apartment.

October 11, 2014
Redheads make up only 2% of the human population, but I seem to run into an awful lot of them. Saturday night lights. In October, every school`s color is pink. Oh the reactions that the mere sight of a camera provoke. Oops, forgot to shoot the game.

October 12, 2014
Along the creek. Among the flowers. Inside the barn. On the dock. Beside the woodpile.

October 13, 2014
It says, `We got this cake free with an 8-gallon fill-up.` Fall or autumn. What other season has two names? Watching over First Street. As long as they`re holding up the building, might as well make them look good. What if the levee broke?

October 14, 2014
Today I had the discipline to take pictures in the morning. Creature comfort. As of this month, I`ve lived in the Oregon District 25 years. Consider the natural world around you, and nothing that happens at work or on television will seem significant. `Walnuts AGAIN? She made walnuts yesterday.`

October 15, 2014
Red is a warning from nature: winter is coming. Soon to be smashed in the street. Fifth Street in the Oregon District is Halloween Central. A free book exchange has appeared in the park nearby. Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that`s related to changes in seasons. Symptoms start in the fall and continue into the winter months. MAYO CLINIC

The shape of Ohio`s flag is unique among U.S. states. Partly cloudy. Profile photo. One hundred years old already? You don`t look it. Wipe your beak.

October 17, 2014
Adam Alonzo photo notecards will be on sale November 7 through December 27 at the Dayton Visual Arts Center. Nearly every holiday has disturbing connotations. Junior pumpkins. Some people are really obsessive about leaf removal. Just warming up for Christmas.

October 18, 2014
Have you met my friend Rusty? Birds don`t eat them. That`s a bad sign. Let dat boy boogie-woogie. It in `im and it got to come out. JOHN LEE HOOKER Bottle bottoms. I love watermelon!

October 19, 2014
We were taking pictures at the edge of a pond. She said, `I`ll go over there and sit on that rock.` I said `Okay` and turned my back as she walked off. I heard a splash and a scream and thought, `Uh-oh, I`ve lost one.` But she was fine and she said, `Did you see that big fish?`

October 20, 2014
Organist. Violinist. Tenor. Bassist. Soprano.

October 21, 2014
And me without an umbrella. Angles and lines. Pebbles are good for you. Drive-thru role reversal. A rainy Tuesday downtown.

October 22, 2014
Go right ahead. Obscurity. It pleases me to see dead televisions. So if my light is green, what color is your light? Not my refrigerator.

October 23, 2014
Bathroom paranoia. Thowback Thursday: this looks like a scene from summer. But no, it is definitely no longer summer. Chicago has the Bean. Dayton has this. An expensive camera won`t help you if you don`t SEE.

October 24, 2014
So far, fall and I are getting along just fine. More days like this, please. Man`s attempt at permanence. Is this the best you can do? Two people were standing nearby as I took this. I thought, `PLEASE put your shadows right here.` Friendship -- it`s the perfect blendship. COLE PORTER I had to stand in the middle of First Street to get this one.

October 25, 2014
Equestrians. With this handmade costume, she has outdone herself (see October 26, 2013, and October 27, 2012). They seem like the perfect couple. Wait, where`s my wallet? Meow!

October 26, 2014
My big plan was to photograph three redheads today. But two of them cancelled, leaving me with only one. But what a one she was! You might recognize her from August 10, 2012. Hailey said, `I like my hair to be a little wild.`

October 27, 2014
A relic of older times in downtown Dayton. If I have the walk signal, why are you in the crosswalk? It was sunny and windy. Did I mention it was windy? If you walked by and saw a woman hitting herself with a hammer, you might wonder why she was harming herself. But we`ve come to accept smokers harming themselves.

October 28, 2014
Squirrel lunch. October is the treasurer of the year, and all the months pay bounty to her store. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR It rained today in the City of Dayton. This time of year, my theme is Stuff with Leaves on It. Soon it will be Stuff with Snow on It. They continue to bloom optimistically, or perhaps foolishly.

October 29, 2014
My typical view of Private Fair (see October 8 above). Parking lot patriotism. Suddenly I`m hungry for waffles. It was warm . . . when the sun was out. The fewer things in the photo, the better the photo.

October 30, 2014
An old picture of mine in a new ballet school brochure. Aww man, I was going to eat those. Beethoven wore bifocals. They didn`t last very long. I leaned out of a filthy window for those shadows.

October 31, 2014
FIELD TRIP!! That summarizes my basketball career. The bowl has candy AND cough medicine. Trick or treat! A real flower, but in the office. I did NOT shoot outside. I`m starting to feel the strain.
