Little bird, little Chavala. All I can see is a happy child. The sweet little bird you were, Chavala, Chavala. You were always such a pretty little thing, everybody`s favorite child. Gentle and kind and affectionate, what a sweet little bird you were, Chavala.

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor. Yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. Strength and honour are her clothing, and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

Hard at work. Quittin` time. Ding-a-ling. The headless Harley man. Sidelong glance.

Peace, Vrede, Pax, Pardamean, Paz, Koosi, Pace, Mír, Friede, Filìa, Rauha, Paix, Sìth, Shee, Maluhia, Shalom. Don`t let boundaries hold you back. Smoking section? Right this way. Sunny morning. Dew drop inn.

Breakfast among the lavender. He took up cello since it was easier to carry than piano. Months of inconvenience leads to years of improvement. Your daily flower. Going up?

August 6, 2014
Reminds me of the house called Slanty (see May 8, 2006). Adam Alonzo makes his dramatic return September 21. In a century, fresh water will not be used for decoration. Maybe I`m wrong about this. If so, I`ll take it back in 2114. How is it possible I`ve never taken this picture before? Lunchtime.

August 7, 2014
Looking forward to another day of eating, sleeping, eating, torturing small animals, sleeping, eating and sleeping. Your wife let you leave the house dressed like that? Remember? These were important. Due to budget cutbacks, this is all you get. I only had one.

Ladies and gentlemen, the State Bird of Ohio. A shot like this will confuse your camera, so you need to be smarter than it is. Exposure compensation, baby! Little boy sneaks away from family to spit into the pond. When they notice he`s missing, he runs back to them. Your daily bug. I heard a rustle in the tree, looked up and there he was: Russell the squirrel.

August 9, 2014
They`re dancing in Dayton. Twelve seconds, nice. But will it get you a scholarship? Holy Batmobile! Curious George doesn`t look curious. He just looks hot. They`re still dancing.

August 10, 2014
Double dose of gingertivity. For this picture I asked her to smolder. The younger sister is a high school cheerleader. Different shades of red hair, and different personalities. She`s laughing at some dumb guys hooting at her.

August 11, 2014
I sometimes park there, but fortunately not today. It`s rippling like a wave, but so slowly we can`t see it. Thinking about Vivian Maier (see July 31, 2014). I would be too worried to just leave it parked outside. Time for one last photo and then to bed.

Knights, rooks, bishops and pawns. Courthouse Square. Not the solution: using weapons to solve conflict only sows the seeds for the next conflict. Old Glory. I`m pretty sure I took that photo many years ago.

August 13, 2014
Waiting for the baseball game to start. It will be a long wait. Step right up! In mid-August, it`s cold and windy. Upstairs apartment available. Low rent. Air conditioned.

Most people work during the day. He plays. I suspect that the new student housing units will not be completed in time for the fall semester as planned. We could just knock the whole city down and start over. Red light means stop, green light means go. Not a natural redhead.

Having humans around makes it hard to photograph birds. You may be right, I may be crazy. But it just may be a lunatic you`re lookin` for. BILLY JOEL All of me, why not take all of me? GERALD MARKS AND SEYMOUR SIMONS Lunchtime art. Them`s some skills right there.

August 16, 2014
Taken just after she told me she`s `not very photogenic.` This was the first time she wore that dress. `Red hair` can be in so many different shades. She`s a bright university student and a future lawyer. Ginger goddess.

Lately I`ve been feeling that I`m past my prime. A water droplet refracts other water droplets. He stood there motionless, perhaps thinking -- mistakenly -- that he was blending in with the surroundings. Humbug. I may never need to take another bee-flower photo again. This seems to be the definitive statement on that subject.

A friend said she would make lunch for me. So, I received four muffins . . . Four pieces of peanut butter/raspberry fudge . . . An unidentified food object . . . More unidentified food objects . . . And a week`s worth of minestrone soup so thick you can eat it with a fork, or your fingers.

I come to the garden alone while the dew is still on the roses. C. AUSTIN MILES I counted seven cats in this vacant lot. What lurks beneath the surface? Some days dere`s beauty, some days dere ain`t. These shadows indicate that I`m doing the right thing and taking photos early in the morning.

August 20, 2014
Do you mind? I live `Where the Rivers Meet.` After ten years of taking photographs, I`m getting closer to the point where I can say, `Now I`ve seen everything.` What -- you forgot your key? I may never need to take another shadow-selfie again. This seems to be the definitive statement on that subject.

Before the storm. Coming home to roost. I shoot what there is to shoot. Today, it was this. What do you think of my new wheels? Ease up a little, hmm?

August 22, 2014
I unexpectedly found myself photographing a film festival. Normally it`s bad form to take flash pictures in a cinema. Filmmakers LOVE audience feedback. Filmmakers LOVE attention. No, I ordered POPCORN. Take this back.

August 23, 2014
Film festival day two. Help keep the festival running. Even when the lights were off, it glowed in the dark. A panel of experts listens to movie ideas from the crowd. A lot of creative -- even bizarre -- ideas were presented.

August 24, 2014
It`s awards night at the film festival. Anticipation is high inside the movie theater. Photographing awards ceremonies allows me to learn about outstanding people in our community. Unlike the Oscars, the award recipients got to speak for as long as they liked without being cut short by the band. One of the winning movie producers wasn`t at the festival.

I`d like to think there`s a REASON for colors on plants. Maybe the color pattern leads insects to the pollen. This photo is completely unedited. This is just what I saw. The sun came out from behind the cloud a moment later. This is after the sun came out from behind that cloud. You haven`t gotten very many butterflies from me this year. Sidewalk cafe.

August 26, 2014
Ever get the feeling that you`re empty inside? This kind of bird is not welcome in my neighborhood. Refuge. Nineteen sixty-seven vee double-you. `You call this a dinner date? You`re so cheep!`

August 27, 2014
A basic reference. If it isn`t in here, it`s not important. Provides background about composers and their music. Lacks the breadth of the Oxford, but goes into more depth. When seeking biographical details, this is very useful. Which act is this aria in? What`s that character`s name? Find the answers here. And this is it. This is the one. Nothing will ever come between me and my Da Capo. It knows EVERYTHING.

August 28, 2014
I got a Canon camera, I love to take a photograph, so mama don`t take my memory card away. Dayton: I suppose I`m here to stay. Walking to work on a sunny morning. My creepy parking garage is under new management. Maybe they`ll fix things up so it doesn`t rain on the inside. People who say `America is the best country in the world` evidently see what they want to see and ignore the rest.

August 29, 2014
So this is where I went to high school (see April 24, 2012). Dayton is No. 1! Oh wait. I guess Dayton is No. 2. Sorry for any confusion. Do my calves look chubby to you? Hopefully by now you`ve figured out where I`m at.

August 30, 2014
Life is on the left. Death is on the right. Choose wisely. Who thinks I`m a great photographer? [crickets] We crave a different kind of buzz. You can call me queen bee. LORDE (WITH JOEL LITTLE) Lots of shots of this little guy, and he sat there calmly. I got to the park early and staked out my territory before the family and senior portrait photographers showed up. This is a good example of how NOT to pose a family.

August 31, 2014
Rain, rain and more rain. First, second and third prize. Zombie horse. Soiled stars and stripes. It`s a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
