A nice, calm and peaceful river, right? Well, not necessarily. All that scum on the water just makes you wanna dive in. Soon afterward, I was rushed by a hostile waterfowl. If you`re stumped about what this is, let me give you a hint.

June 2, 2014
Where my car has to spend the day now, poor thing. Do you like butter on your popcorn? Schadenfreude: someone`s bad luck is a photo for me. A study in contrasts. It`s okay to be different.

June 3, 2014
Have you met my friend Mike? Hanging around downtown. People who take pictures all the time creep me out. Better than a bathroom mirror selfie. Me AGAIN?

June 4, 2014
I fight authority. Authority always wins. JOHN MELLENCAMP When it rains outside, it rains inside the parking garage. Believe it or not, I actually have to pay money to park here. Spilled my popcorn. Urban ducks. Sure, they`ll accept some little bits of bread. Or cigarettes, or money for the bus.

June 5, 2014
Taken while waiting my toast to pop for breakfast. Two cars in my neighborhood had windows smashed. Remnant of early settlements in the Oregon District. Some days, it makes sense to take a picture like this. Making progress (see May 29 and 30, 2014).

Who is Hazel? What is she, that all our swains commend her? Holy, fair and wise is she. The heaven such grace did lend her. That she might admirèd be. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

Redheads generally have many thousands fewer hairs than blondes or brunettes, but each strand is thicker. Most redheads have brown eyes. Blue eyes are very rare. Redheads have a greater sensitivity to temperature and pain, and they require more anesthetic during surgery. Russia means `land of reds` due to the large percentage of redheads there. Redheads are able to produce Vitamin D in their bodies, resulting in stronger bones and protection from disease.

A giant helium-filled 2014 drifts lazily across the sky, liberated from someone`s boring graduation party. The colors of springtime. Art is where you find it. Macaroni and what? Art is where you find him.

June 9, 2014
I already took a shower, thanks. So many pitiful cliches have been targeted toward this innocent creature: weather for ducks, water off my back . . . Wall of water. Anything that repeats is worthy of a photograph. Bringing in the sheaves.

June 10, 2014
Tempt me not. Every evening I go to the dungeon to rescue my car. Past its prime, but then again so am I. An homage to myself (see May 8, 2014). Hibiscus blooming in chilly June? Must be a hybrid.

June 11, 2014
`What`s he taking pictures of?` `I dunno.` I ignored them. What your teeth look like up close after drinking coffee. Her childhood memories will be much different than mine. Mobility. Aquarium fish are oblivious to the person who feeds them, just like we ignore the trees and clouds that keep us alive.

June 12, 2014
Another shot of the garage where I dock -- er, park my car. On a summer`s day, what`s so fine as being a boy? PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR NO DIVING. The key to photography is knowing what to leave out. `It`s just you and me, honey, and some guy with a camera.`

June 13, 2014
Do you remember where I put my keys? Sunset lily. Barrels Out of Bond, Chapter 9 of `The Hobbit.` A smart photographer would have been walking in the opposite direction, with the setting sun behind. Oh well. It`s important to rest up between meals.

June 14, 2014
Instructions for dog owners. I seem to take this picture every year -- for good reason. Live alone in the bee-loud glade, and I shall have some peace there. WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS I wasn`t shooting into the sun today (see June 13 above). Some boys never outgrow toys.

June 15, 2014
A participant in my photo workshop shoots a caterpillar. This caterpillar, to be exact. I took this while one of the students stood and watched. When I showed her the photo she was ecstatic. Walking on water. Not another bug!?

June 16, 2014
H20. A fitness group meets here for a workout in the evening. As I drive past, I`m exhausted to watch them exercise. I hate family photos where everyone is dressed alike. The water is a lot more calm (see June 12 above). Two boys from Dayton changed the world.

June 17, 2014
I guess I`m a real employee now. In my creepy parking garage, I found the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. Something`s very wrong if I take a picture like this in June. Some days, doing the bare minimum is an achievement. Eye see you.

June 18, 2014
My new definition of decadence: chocolate macaroons. Presumably I can get up there and take pictures down. Urban rustic. And then, sudden and unexpected, a worthwhile photo. Selfie across the alley.

June 19, 2014
Diabolical Beethoven. Raspberry pipeline. Unexpected beauty in my leaky parking garage. BACK SOON. WENT TO BUY LADDER. That`s not attractive.

June 20, 2014
Heavy with rain, it impeded my progress on the sidewalk. I was indoors all day and missed the rain and flooding, but there was evidence of it everywhere. The piano store has moved out of this building. I wonder what`s going to happen to the Steinway sign. A humble pollinator. Their heads are so narrow and their eyes protrude so much that they can literally see what`s behind them.

June 21, 2014
I love the music and food at this place, but not the lighting. Stop playing with my food! The reed man also plays the guitar. Excuse me, waitress, when you get a -- Could I have some more water -- How about a refill -- Hello, remember me? I`m trying to enrich my diet with more dairy products.

June 22, 2014
Shall I compare thee to a summer`s day? Thou art more fair and more temperate. But thy eternal summer shall not fade. So long as men can breathe and eyes can see. So long lives this, and this gives life to thee. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

June 23, 2014
Cleaning windows is a job that is never done. Somebody drank out of this cup for a few minutes, and now it will continue to exist for a lifetime. Thanks, plastic! `Yep, it`s a broken axle all right. That`s gonna cost you.` The breeze blows, the anthers jiggle, pollen is shaken off. Someone got to go for a ride in a police car.

June 24, 2014
Sirens are going off. Let`s go for a walk outside! I can`t spell the sound that it was making. The paddles plash, the wavelets dash, we see the summer lightning flash, while now and then, in marsh and fen too muddy for the feet of men, where neither bird nor beast has stirred, the spotted bullfrog`s croak is heard. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR I`m not speaking metaphorically when I say this is more valuable than a diamond. Homeward bound.

June 25, 2014
The rain washes most of my car clean . . . . . . but not the spots from my dripping parking garage. Book lover. I got a box of CDs from my new e-mail acquaintance. Multi-faceted.

June 26, 2014
I`m working on getting a better parking situation. At Dayton Beach. In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure-dome decree. SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE Use the highest possible f-stop number for shots like this. `No, HE has to apologize first.`

June 27, 2014
I find this scene appealing. More scenes from my parking garage. `Hey cat, look up here! YOU`RE UGLY!` Have you met my friend Lily? No, that`s fine, I`ll just walk in the street.

June 28, 2014
What if we had to work all day just to eat? There she goes again (see May 17, 2014). Waiter, there`s a fly on my flowers. I grow dogs in my garden. Last bug for the day, I promise.

June 29, 2014
Squirrel lunch. A female belted kingfisher. There was a male nearby. I was ready to take shelter in case it started raining. There`s a camouflaged video camera in a tree pointed toward the Wright brothers` graves, so I left the pennies. Sibling protection instinct.

June 30, 2014
Commuting means different things to different people. I`m more of a city dweller now that I used to be. Reflections on downtown Dayton. What station is the radio tuned to? I can see your thoughts.
