I got to take pictures of color guard today, so I was jumping for joy. When I see performers line up like this, I hurry to get into position (see November 13, 2025). Photographers sitting near me are taking action photos. I`m shooting portraits. This is a competition, so some teams win and other teams lose, but that`s not what it`s really about. Arrive early. Sit in the front row. Take good pictures (see November 1, 2025).

Not at all what I was going for, but I don`t hate it. My ex-parking garage grows more inaccessible (see February 23, 2026). The bookstore isn`t allowed to open (see February 24, 2026). On the way to my new parking garage, I pass by unfamiliar shop windows. Someone is having a birthday.

March 3, 2026
I got wet, but at least it`s not snow. Nine hours later and it`s still raining. Unwashed dishes are piling up in my sink. I don`t always listen to classical music. Bathroom mirror selfies are pictures of desperation.

March 4, 2026
Brunch buddy. This training was supposed to include emergency vehicles and mock victims, but I saw none of that. Narcissus the heron. There`s a story here, I suppose. Look, an e-gull!

Stage productions are great, but backstage is cool too (see April 3, 2013). `Bonnie & Clyde` is on stage now at Springboro Community Theatre. One of these performers was previously seen (unconscious) on September 29, 2021. Clyde of Bonnie and Clyde. Bonnie of Bonnie and Clyde.

March 6, 2026
It felt like summer today. Wildlife in the middle of the city. It has rained a lot lately. `My name is Jose.` I like the active verb `caught` here.

I spent International Women`s Day listening to and learning from some inspiring women. It`s still winter, but I believe in planning ahead. This mitten is in the same place it was on February 8, 2026, but the snow is gone. Looking down upon us in judgment. I feel like bustin` loose.

March 9, 2026
A lot of hassle just because some doofus decided to set the bathroom on fire (see February 12, 2026). Contrasts. Downtown Dayton is appealing. Reflections on the Arcade. Downtown`s next major renovation project.

Yesterday I drove to work wearing a winter coat. Today I walked and didn`t need a jacket. And on the way to work, I encountered these guys. A metaphor for our society on the sidewalk: they`re driven to consume, consume, consume, and it kills them. Lasting Peace: what would that be like? Abloom in a neighbor`s yard.

March 11, 2026
Yesterday I walked to work without a jacket. Today there were tornado watches, so I drove. I was given a gift by the dentist. I was given a gift by the custodian. Some people don`t clean up after their dog. The endless battle to keep stuff clean.

Schunrise in the Schuster. Pledge drive hasn`t started, but pledge drive food has. Pledge drive hasn`t started, but we`re getting ready. To be fair, pedestrians also violate the sanctity of the crosswalk and frustrate drivers (see August 30, 2025). My new parking garage is more photogenic.

It`s hard to photograph the wind. It`s hard to photograph the wind. It`s hard to photograph the wind. It`s hard to photograph the wind. It`s hard to photograph the wind.

Photography workshop time (see February 25, 2022). After the class, I took pictures for myself. Disclosure: today`s flower photos were taken indoors. If I worked in this building, I`d probably sneeze a lot. In the Oregon District, St. Patrick`s Day starts early.

The Guitar Man, Jim McCutcheon, kicked off another public radio pledge drive. Donate to Discover Classical and Jim will autograph a CD for you. Wait -- he`s left handed? The assumption is that you have a working CD player. Then I went, semi-exhausted, to the Dayton Art Institute for Michael London`s `Anschel` (see February 2, 2026). Sound Designer George Drake Jr., playwright Michael London, author of `Anschel`s Story` Renate Frydman, actor Dawson Hudson and director Annie Pesch.

It`s pledge drive week: lots of heavy, greasy, spicy food. The spring pledge drive takes place during winter. After a long, long day, lunch becomes dinner. This is how I stay so sweet. I got out my magic markers.

March 17, 2026
Snow stuck to the car, and to me. Found art. Unsafe at any speed. He was looking at his smart watch as he rode past me. Not very smart. I wore green today. Ready for tomorrow`s pledge drive. Time for bed.

March 18, 2026
For a robin, March means migration and mating. During pledge drive, food is plentiful but photos are not. Who decided, `Let`s roast some seaweed`? Again, lunch becomes dinner (see March 16 above). Another late night prepping for pledge drive.

March 19, 2026
Don`t stand too close to that building. There`s been remarkable [lack of] progress here (see March 9 above) and these business are struggling. Written on a pizza box, of course. Missing from the checklist: Get Adequate Sleep. A thoughtful gift for photographing Anschel (see March 15 above).

March 20, 2026
Last day of pledge drive. Probably my favorite photo by Brother John Lemker, who passed away in 2024 (see March 18, 2018). He looked at all of that mud and went a different way. March is peak mating season for mallards. In my solitude, you haunt me with reveries of days gone by. EDDIE DELANGE and IRVING MILLS

March 21, 2026
I finally had time to catch up with spring. My first butterfly photo of the year is a highly anticipated annual ritual (see April 24, 2025). A redhead was being photographed nearby, but I maintained my composure (see August 10 and 16, 2014). In March, a male mourning dove will establish territory with its cooing sound. Females start to build nests. The stuff of nightmares.

Getting some air at Wright State University. With special guests from University of Rio Grande . . . . . . and Wittenberg University. GO RAIDERS! Getting more air at Wright State University.

March 23, 2026
When my first photo of the day is taken during my final piece of music of the day, that means my life is too busy. Winter is back, and I`m wearing the wrong coat. CENTER is off-center. A line segment joining two non-adjacent vertices of a polygon, acting as a slanting connector within a shape. Dear house finch, please don`t build a nest in the three-month-old Christmas wreath on my front porch.

March 24, 2026
It`s spring. Why is there frost on my windshield? (Compare to December 2, 2024) New Discover Classical notecards, with original artwork by Charlene Fox. My new parking garage is better than the old one because it shows my face on a giant screen. I like the music and narration of color guard shows, but I want to be able to hear afterwards. Raspberry tea makes the day better.

March 25, 2026
Who decided, `Let`s paint the building purple`? Remember the hood design of the Pontiac Trans Am? Still trying to imitate Brother John Lemker (see March 20 above). Today`s tulip photo was not taken indoors (see March 14 above). Dayton Dragons` opening day is April 7.

March 26, 2026
I drove by these blossoms a few times, but today I walked to work and had the chance to take pictures. A coworker had a birthday, and so I get fat. Do not approach a goose during nesting season. A classic. If you need a drawing of a gnome, I`m your guy.

March 27, 2026
Compact discs that have been on these shelves for more than 30 years are being removed. The CDs are being packed up for a move. Wall art will be removed and probably not moved. This is a photo of a photo that appeared in Radio Magazine in April 2006. Nothing much has changed, but we have a new chair.

Very small, very important. I can hear a woodpecker, but I can`t see it. For lack of a better caption, I`ve now taken photos for 7,978 days in a row. Come on in, the water`s fine. I can see a flamingo, but I can`t hear it.

March 30, 2026
Lunch. I`m the type of person who stays inside the lines. As the wind blew, Tubby went `tink, tink` against the pole. Pencil lines with marker, just like my technique (see March 16 and 26 above). As I walked home from work, I was outpaced.

The WGI World Championships are coming soon. High over downtown Dayton. Death (left) and taxes (right). They tore up the street and worked late into the night. Simple pleasures.
