December gets off to a frigid start. I drive down this street once a week and hope that NEXT WEEK the construction will be finished. Cheerful sunlight, wicked cold. This Christmas movie came highly recommended. How cold is it? I`m wearing a knit cap indoors.

Where did I put the windshield scraper last winter? Head in the clouds. Don`t park in the tree. There`s magic in downtown Dayton. My fifth picture of the day is often an act of desperation.

Water can be liquid, solid or gas. If not, we wouldn`t be here. That can`t be comfortable. And now from the other side (see November 8, 2024). I wish I could say I did this on purpose. The Great Miami is great.

I guess I`m not going out this door. A sweet present -- for somebody else. Hopefully some kids will be happy when they get these. The Polar Express. Moose are not native to Ohio.

Better than ever (see December 4 above). Found object. The type of pictures I take on a bitterly cold day. Outside the rehearsal studio. Are you a member of the human race? [Artwork by Marsha Monroe Pippenger]

December 6, 2024
I spent time with some relatives tonight. A Christmas tradition continues, thanks to my niece. Brightly shone the moon that night, though the frost was cruel. Tradition is already being passed to a new generation. Not everyone wanted to sing carols.

December 7, 2024
Tonight there was another holiday social event. It wasn`t a family gathering, so name tags were needed. I had to restrain myself. C Major. How things looked after the fourth brownie.

I`ll just come out and say it: people aren`t very smart. I often see mockingbirds when I come to Wegerzyn. It was a pleasant day, so I didn`t freeze while taking this. Sculpture in the sky. The bugs are gone and seeds are scarce. What will the birds eat all winter?

December 9, 2024
I didn`t touch it. Someone may come back for it. There is beauty in sidewalk garbage. There`s a range of emotions in downtown Dayton. I got both the LOVE and HATE walls in the same picture, but HATE was too far away, so here`s HATE up close. Next year is going to be beautiful -- at least the first 31 days (see August 4, 2024).

December 10, 2024
The sign on my parking garage sways in the wind. We aren`t allowed to be underneath it. One reason why today`s photos are so bad. On a good day, it`s hard to choose the best five photos. But today`s easy, since all of the photos are equally bad.

It`s time once again for Holly Days! Pie in the sky. Artisans make amazing things, and I don`t buy them. For mid-December, this is normal. Wednesday: Nutcracker Number 1.

December 12, 2024
Holly Days 2024 continues. Guitarist Jim McCutcheon entertained the crowd. There`s a lot of artistic talent in my family. Singer and songwriter Amber Heart. Thursday: Nutcracker Number 2.

December 13, 2024
It`s Christmastime in the city. I used to sing with the Bach Society, but they have a higher standard now. I`m sure this part of the Arcade will be open for next year`s Holly Days. Holly Days is fun for the whole family. Friday: Nutcracker Number 3.

Just perfect for the Christmas concert rehearsal. This will help the singers remember where to stand. It`s important to warm up before you start singing. I have one of those shirts, but it was too cold today. My favorite Christmas carol is about a percussionist.

December 15, 2024
I REALLY like songs with motions. Former singers often keep in touch with the KCC. Buy a raffle ticket and you can win sweet stuff. My choir was never like this. We wish you a Merry Christmas!

December 16, 2024
Tis the season for eating too many sweets. Merry Christmas from Miles Davis. The traffic lights on Main Street were malfunctioning, though it fit nicely with the Christmas color scheme. It looks better at night (see November 15, 2024). And then there`s this tree-like object. I think they`re trying to do too much here.

December 17, 2024
How much do I have to donate to get a letter from me? It was so nice out I had no complaints (about weather). Generosity takes many forms. I slowly got closer and closer and it didn`t fly away. There was much screaming.

December 18, 2024
Radio station staff had an exclusive holiday lunch. We arrived at 12:00pm and got our food at 1:30pm. I put mine in a box and ran back to the radio station. Between December 24 and 31, I have to work 6 hours. It`s chocolate! It`s peppermint! It`s genius!

December 19, 2024
`Tis the season for plaid (see December 14, 2023). What`s the area code for the north pole? Everything is better with sprinkles on it. Holiday bling. I began to re-read A Christmas Carol (see December 1 above), but gave up due to its bias against solitary life. Scrooge had problems, but to be alone isn`t malevolent.

December 20, 2024
I bought a CD about Anna Maria della Pieta. I bought a book about Anna Maria della Pieta. I bought another CD about Anna Maria della Pieta. I bought another book about Anna Maria della Pieta. I bought another CD (from Japan) about Anna Maria della Pieta. I`m intrigued by an 18th century orphan.

December 21, 2024
Dunbar`s writings are just my type. Mother Dunbar was busy in the kitchen when I arrived. Mother Dunbar`s chair is next to an upstairs window. The tour guide said that Paul Laurence Dunbar was born in the same year that the Civil War ended. FALSE! Ring out the glee of Christmas time. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR

December 22, 2024
Fortunately, the automatic pencil sharpener that my cousin gave me for high school graduation still works. Upward mobility. You want it . . . You need it. My 2028 presidential platform: cookies for everyone. How many more days of winter?

December 23, 2024
This sign swings like a weather vane (see December 10 above). Don`t walk underneath it! It was festive on December 16 above, but the traffic lights on Main Street still don`t work. Another ornament selfie (see December 11, 2023). Skaters and sleepers not welcome (see November 25, 2024). I`m not the only one intrigued by the flags (see November 11, 2024).

December 24, 2024
There are fewer pigeons in my neighborhood lately (see November 23, 2024). Tattered remnants of autumn. The cardinals didn`t want me around. Built between 1816 and 1850, the Patterson Homestead still stands. However, a venerable old church that stood nearby (see September 26, 2009) was recently demolished.

December 25, 2024
Feliz Navidad from the Mexican family. To cool your mouth after eating the hot sauce. This could be a scene from your house. We like to hop on top of Pop. DR. SEUSS Traveling is difficult during the holidays.

December 26, 2024
There was once a marriage proposal carved into this tree (see March 19, 2009, and March 27, 2010). A lot has changed in this prairie (see October 12, 2011). Nature is always planning ahead for the future. This made the long walk in the woods worthwhile. I heard lots of birds, but saw very few.

December 27, 2024
The trucker`s dilemma: how to make the turn in front of my house. Fortunately, my car is nowhere nearby. So much for taking pictures outside today. Being off work makes it hard to remember what day it is. Truckers should just give up on my neighborhood and make deliveries by drone instead. I`ll get fat and my teeth will go bad, but I`ll be happy.

December 28, 2024
Outside the public library. He might be wondering why all the other skaters are going the opposite direction. Not much going on today, but at least it wasn`t raining. I rode a bike along the river one time. Got a flat tire. The ground is covered with acorns, so why bury them?

December 29, 2024
What a fun place for a birthday party. Instead of birthday cake, there was buttered popcorn. About 116 movie fans celebrated Jenny`s birthday. Jenny`s husband Larry rented the movie theatre for the occasion, and introduced the film `Remember the Night.` Then we went out for pizza and had more fun times.

December 30, 2024
Watch out for the hawk (see December 24 above). I can`t recall the last time I held a can of spray paint. She`s everywhere I go. Music in the shadows. The best part about this time of year is that I can go for days without having to speak to anyone.

December 31, 2024
I worked today after a week off, and went on the air two hours early. It was confusing to see a 1 to the left of 2. No pepperoni for me this week. The dangerous sign has been taken down from my parking garage (see December 23 above). All it took was an emergency order from the city (see January 5, 2023). On the way to a rockin` New Year`s Eve party.
