I knew `Minnie the Moocher` very well . . . . . . but I didn`t know `Minnie the Moocher is Dead.` `Fly Me to the Moon.` `It Don`t Mean a Thing if it Ain`t Got that Sing Sing Sing.` There was lots of gambling . . . for chocolate.

December 2, 2023
I took my one-horse open sleigh to a party. I knew the people hosting the party . . . . . . but most of the people I didn`t know. The party really began when marshmallows appeared. How many marshmallows can you stuff in your mouth?

December 3, 2023
Ginko trees drop their leaves all at once. Neighborhood kids will soon be skinning their knees here. Other people put up decorations, and I just take a photo. In the tree all year long. In the tree for a limited time.

December 4, 2023
Home sweet home (see November 29, 2023). The water is wide. Urban autumn. I`m outside in the cold, so any picture I take is good. What would the Wright brothers think to see this overhead?

December 5, 2023
A trip to the library this morning was the best photo opportunity I had all day. Rainy days usually don`t result in good pictures. If I assumed cars would stop at a red light, I`d be dead. Hours later, two more cars run the same traffic light. Broken glass and blood: the parking garage residents are getting unruly.

December 6, 2023
The lights are still working (see November 21, 2023). Ice cream can be an art form (see April 6, 2023). I don`t need any artistic talent to make my pictures. No, I don`t wanna build a snowman. I wanna stay inside. I just take the pictures. I offer no explanations.

December 7, 2023
It`s Christmastime in the city. It was snowing inside the Dayton Arcade. This is the time of year for sugar plum fairies. Arrive early. Sit in the front row. Take good pictures. Like me, he talks about classical music on the radio.

December 8, 2023
Christmas used to be something. Now it`s this. Today`s near death experience. Note the crosswalk light. You`re so vein. Another student with discipline (see September 20, 2023). Get comfortable.

December 9, 2023
During a choir rehearsal tonight, I set up a camera to take pictures automatically. I got a lot of shots like this. And I got a picture of myself. I don`t think AI is ready. And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. EXODUS 15:20 The pipe and the psaltery make sweet melody: but a pleasant tongue is above them both. ECCLESIASTES 40:21 As a photographer, I like songs with motions.

December 10, 2023
Pre-concert warmups can be invigorating. The choir director said, `Please don`t record videos.` When the men`s ensemble goes rogue. I like songs with motions. In case you didn`t know, I take good concert photos.

December 11, 2023
I wondered if the broken window in my parking garage would be fixed (see December 5 above). What window? This is a bed. This is a pillow. This is a travesty. Reflections on downtown Dayton. Get your limited-edition Adam Alonzo ornament today! Right, just ONE snowflake. I wouldn`t mind that.

December 12, 2023
12:12pm. 6:05pm. Someone else`s near death experience (see December 8 above). Homeward bound. I wish I was homeward bound. PAUL SIMON This is a scheme to get me to buy more raisins.

December 13, 2023
Bright, sunny and bitterly cold. And this guy is wearing shorts. Don`t look back. Something might be gaining on you. SATCHEL PAIGE My most likely cause of death is a pickup truck in a crosswalk (see April 6, 2021). `Tis the season for excess sweets.

December 14, 2023
The Carillon Brass performs a local holiday tradition. Nice pants. It`s easy to photograph a tuba, but not a tuba player. There he is. Mug shot.

December 15, 2023
They`re red-nosed reindeer cookies, see? Lots of marshmallows lately (see December 2 above). It was pretty warm, so I walked around after work. Mrs. Claus is significantly younger than her husband. Walking down the sidewalk with the shutter open.

December 16, 2023
It was Mr. ONEderful`s birthday. He received a talking penguin as a birthday present. Nearly everyone else also received a talking penguin. Cuteness runs in my family. Want to meet new people? Take your duck for a walk.

December 17, 2023
When the weather turns cold, the photos turn bad. People watching probably thought I was going to jump in. I tried that once, and then had to see a chiropractor. I think we`ve all felt that way sometimes. More sweets that I don`t need.

December 18, 2023
You can`t hide. You will be eaten. Can I eat this one? If only holiday cheer (and chocolate and cookies) were offered all year long. How can this be real? I did not expect to receive a pair of socks in the mail.

December 19, 2023
It`s ten degrees warmer in the sun. It`s a rough life in the city. A hazy dream on Fourth Street. Me and art (by Shon Walters). The country is hanging by a thread.

December 20, 2023
The police arrived at my parking garage just as I pulled in, but I`m not sure why (see December 11 above). Some kindhearted person left winter gear for the people who live in the garage (see November 29, 2023). In no particular order. I don`t often go out to lunch, but will make an exception when someone else is buying. For a photo like this, proper shutter speed is important.

December 21, 2023
There were more police outside the parking garage (see December 20 above). Somebody broke through this door near where I park my car (see December 4 above). To get in our out? Somewhere in America. Moraine, Ohio, to be precise. When I don`t even open my camera bag until after 6pm, then the pictures suffer. I picked up something at the printer.

December 22, 2023
When I get out of bed early and go out into the cold, then the pictures are better. It was just me, birds and beasts: no other people. Hey bud, I look forward to seeing you again in the spring. Looking for a place to get a drink. Only by standing still with my camera for a long time will birds feel relaxed enough to take a drink.

December 23, 2023
It was a soggy day in the Oregon Historic District. The Lion in Winter. Mrs. Claus -- without hair in her eyes this time (see December 15 above). Impatiently waiting for you to fill your bird feeder. Other people decorate and I take pictures of their work. This arrangement works nicely for me.

December 24, 2023
I waited for the eagle to do something dramatic, but it had nothing to prove. Delicious or deadly? Always take time for reflection. The way of all flesh (see November 5, 2023). A memory of sunflowers that once were.

December 25, 2023
`Tis better to give than to receive. But `tis nice to receive too. How lovely are thy branches. No spot is so dear to my childhood as the little brown church in the dell. WILLIAM PITTS There was no figgy pudding, but apple pie is better.

December 26, 2023
With the rise of gift cards, Boxing Day is now irrelevant. No, that`s fine. You can park wherever you like. I took the time for just a quick walk around the block. But then I went inside when it started to rain. About the only thing I do now is work on rebuilding this Web site, so I can release a new design on January 1.

December 27, 2023
I have to get up at 4:30am tomorrow, so today I got up at 7:30am (which is early for me). Hurray! I rode a bike once, when I was eight. I yielded the bike path to the bikers. After Christmas, it`s always sad to take down the tree. I photographed this F-16 at F/8.

December 28, 2023
I`m glad I am not the morning radio announcer, but he deserves time off so I subsitute for him occasionally. We`re trying to get rid of some books about classical music. Do you want them? My parking garage just keeps getting stranger. After 20 years, maybe it`s time for a new Web site. I`d rather eat a buckeye than a wolverine.

December 29, 2023
There`s not much traffic at 5:43am. To avoid stepping over anybody sleeping in the stairwell, I walked down the ramp of the parking garage. Everyone listening on radio can hear I have a cold. Finishing my Web site rebuild is about all I do now. I lit them, took the photo, blew them out, went to bed.

December 30, 2023
If I take a good photo of Woodland Cemetery, they might hang it on the wall. Is this one good enough? The forest-dwelling girl Rima, from William Henry Hudson`s novel `Green Mansions.` Note the spider web. The danger of dropping my camera in water was real. The guestbook at Woodland Cemetery`s Mausoleum.

Book now for winter discount. There was nothing happening. Here`s a picture of it. Where breadsticks come from. The perfect blendship. Looking forward to a photogenic year in 2024.
