It`s 2023 and we still play oldies music from 1905. Some maintenance worker has been in the dark since he left this in my office. So I got me an office, gold records on the wall. Just leave a message, maybe I`ll call. JOE WALSH Rainy day photos. It`s 2023 and we still have a whiteboard.

You want to donate money and get some merch, right? You can even get my [facsimile] autograph! And then the glass went KLANK against the camera lens. A $10 gift card goes a long way in a shop where the books are just $1. So do I!

I had a good chance to injure myself this morning. Putting the watch back together required a different tool. Who puts these here to tempt me? Spain has a bull run. Dayton has daredevil jaywalkers. I renewed my sole this evening.

The Levitt Pavilion season hasn`t started yet, but tonight was kind of a preview. In a salsa band, nearly everyone is a percussionist. A thousand of my neighbors were also on hand. I`m looking forward to more concerts starting in June! I`m worried about my thigh gap.

Having the streets barricaded means I don`t need to stay on the sidewalk. Yesterday I drove to work wearing a winter coat. Today I`m walking to work without a jacket. The haves and the have-nots are clearly on display. I don`t know anything. It was like that when I got here. Who could resist those eyes?

May 6, 2023
First bass and second bass. Who`s on third? I`m glad another generation is singing `Shenandoah.` The challenges of parenthood have begun. Can dogs feel humiliation? Text me when you get home.

It was an exceptional concert with some powerful music. It`s hard for me to take pictures when I`m crying. Pictures like this help me forget how much this camera and lens cost. When I was in choir, nobody said we could have fun. More shenanigans (see December 11, 2022). Uno between concerts is a KCC tradition.

Not quite as cute as May 5 above. Tea and classical music go together perfectly. Daffodils: check. Tulips: check. Next up, irises. It was a strangely quiet evening in my neighborhood. It`s supposed to be raining, but I`m glad the forecast was wrong.

Urbanature. I don`t understand why anyone would willingly do this, but it makes for good photos. I was drawn to the sound of skateboards on pavement. Today turned out to be a lot like April 27, 2023. Looking up from Monument Avenue.

No wonder it`s been so chilly lately. Nothing to see here. I`m just refamiliarizing myself with downtown now that it`s warm enough to walk outside. It`s the useless detail that makes this building special. The problem is whether American people have loyalty enough, honor enough, patriotism enough, to live up to their own Constitution. FREDERICK DOUGLASS The car accelerated as the traffic light turned red. The pedestrian wisely chose not to walk into the street. Just another bad driver in downtown Dayton.

Highlight of my day No. 1. Highlight of my day No. 2. Highlight of my day No. 3. If the river wasn`t nearby, what would I do on my lunch break? Sit around and stare at my phone? No thanks. Be sure to rosin your bow every time you play.

It was the Patriots in red . . . . . . versus the Patriots in white. The white team tried to score, but couldn`t. The red team tried to score, but couldn`t. The white team won 2-0 because of a safety.

It will be an evening of music -- and lots of hard work. My photos are tastefully on display for all to see. If I get there early enough for rehearsal, I can get better pictures than I can during the actual performance. The Guitar Man, Jim McCutcheon, shared his music. Attendees seemed to have a good time.

May 14, 2023
The squirrel could hear my camera clicking, but couldn`t see me since I was taking photos from the car window. Squirrels and chipmunks both feast on the same thing. I took 16 useless photos of irises before I found this. Two days later, I see how I could have done this better. I didn`t have the right lens for this, but I made it work. Oh, and I should say that I was LOOKING for this shot.

May 15, 2023
That`s some profoundly bad driving: somebody went up on the sidewalk, hit a wall, then crashed into a building. Looking up in Dayton (continued from May 9 and 10 above). Displaying my Mexican heritage with a new sombrero. Ah, the beauty of pond scum. Panic on the porch as a baby cardinal fell out of the tree.

Remember the water main replacement project (see March 7, 10, and 22, 2023)? Well, sumthin` didn`t take, cuz water`s bubbling up from under the street. Genius: it`s cake, but in a sphere! I like spherical food. Discover how desperate I am for photos when it`s cold and rainy. Nature photography through the kitchen window.

Fixing the bubbling I pointed out yesterday. I guess it wasn`t a miracle after all (see March 6, 2023). Tree branches make the marks on the building. I heard some students were painting a mural on the side of a restaurant, but it wasn`t what I expected. The painting was done in advance in sections and is now being attached to the wall. If only Michelangelo had had a crane.

Another opening, another show. I found the third bass (see May 6 above). I didn`t touch anything on the stage. Frozen has come and gone (see May 10 above), but the cast left an artistic memento in the dressing room area. After an exceptionally long day, I needed some nutrition.

A morning walk in nature is a good time for reflection. Friday turned out to be bird day. Here`s looking at you. The frantic obsession of bumblebees for flowers. There`s were more bird photos today, but I`ll spare you.

The horse`s name is Oreo. The horse`s name is Molly. The horse`s name is Ronin. The horse`s name is What She Wants. The horse`s name is On No Account.

Today I spent some time hanging around with Paul. Just dreaming, loving, dying so, the actors in the drama go. A flitting picture on a wall, Love, death, the themes! But is it all? PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR I need a giant wall like this at my house. I`m glad to know that I walk in Paul`s footsteps, figuratively and literally. Today I was on his street. We wear the mask that grins and lies. It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR

You`ll just have to take my word for it that I eat much more fruit since somebody wrecked my car last fall. And just 14 years later, my computer monitor screen went dark, and smoke started coming out of the back. It seems other people have more free time than I do. Further developments at the Oregon District gazebo (see April 24, 2023). The only kind of real estate I have any interest in.

May 23, 2023
As you can tell from the shadow, I was out early today. As a mysterious slime accumulates on the river, somewhere there`s an Indian with a tear in his eye. Two humans and a goose approached me for handouts. It must be hot to be covered in feathers. When I walk to work, you get to see more urban photos.

I would have a hard time explaining why I love this photo. This little bird was frustrated by the existence of glass. Thinking of having a celebratory balloon release? Don`t. In Dune, the spice must flow. In Dayton, the sandwiches must be delivered. I was able to stay cool by walking in this skinny shadow.

On today`s date in 2004, I purchased this camera and promised myself that I`d take pictures every day. Tomorrow I begin my 20th year of daily photos. In 2004, 8 megapixels seemed like a lot. My current camera is 45 megapixels. The camera came with a memory card that might hold one or two photos from my current camera. My kitchen stove serves as a mini-studio. More behind the scenes: I tore the place apart to take a photo of my first camera.

I said I didn`t have any fish, but it kept following me. A preview of the Dayton Celtic Festival. As far as I know, she was doing this of her own free will. I am a rock, I am an island. PAUL SIMON Can`t we all just get along?

Once again: Pathway by John Safer. Lion No. 1. Art critic. Imposing. Lion No. 2.

May 28, 2023
It was a rough game. Dara Russo breaks through the defense and scores for Dayton. Columbus made short, controlled passes to move the ball forward, while Dayton relied on individual ability. Down by 2 with 2 minutes left, Dayton scored 2 and tied. Fan is short for fanatic.

On land. On the sea. It was genuinely hot this afternoon, and I was in the sun. Then a zebra swallowtail appeared and made my day. One dinosaur versus a stack of checkers. No problem.

May 30, 2023
For 35 years, garbage day was Thursday. Now it`s Monday -- but Monday was a holiday, so today it`s Tuesday. I`m glad this guy`s keeping it straight for me. I tried a new herbal shampoo. The bees really like it. Post-Memorial Day scenery. This is a weed and not a flower, but bees don`t discriminate, so neither should I. Keep smiling -- until it rains.

Did you see my photos in German Life magazine (see August 10, 2018)? WHAT -- you don`t subscribe? When I got my first camera, one of the first things I took pictures of was this tree in bloom (see May 25, 2004). Is school over, or should I call a truant officer? Urban camouflage. Let`s build some happy little clouds. BOB ROSS
