Other people`s photo shoots. Because it was almost 70 degrees, this is how I looked walking down the street (minus the cat). My logical mind says, `There must be a pattern here.` How long until summer concert season? Feel free to call that number (and make a donation).

Now arriving at Dayton, Ohio, the Wright Flyer III. After being removed from a former location (see August 24, 2020) the Wright Brothers now have a new home. The 5,000 pound sculpture by Larry Godwin is now in the neighborhood where the Wright brothers once lived. I think the Wrights would appreciate the engineering. Two brothers from Dayton changed the world.

Now THAT`S a birthday cake. This clock is right twice a day. Black is the color of my laptop case, camera bag, cell phone, coat, umbrella and soul. We got a month`s worth of rain -- today. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes -- or until I get so hungry that I eat it anyway.

You do listen to Discover Classical, right? I shaved on a Saturday morning, so it must be important. It was a rare chance to meet radio listeners in person. This venue was large, comfortable and new to me. There was also lots of good food.

The flowers were splashed with mud from recent rains. Sorry, I`ll come back later and see if you`re free. It was Art in the Park Day, and the park was packed. I`m too lazy to make pictures that way (see October 1, 2006). Well, I`m too lazy to make pictures that way too.

March 6, 2023
`Whatcha lookin` at, ya dumb duck?` A muddy puddle turned into this (see January 1, 2021). Five weeks until the first game. Not quite ready. Another building to cram more people in downtown. A miraculous apparition of Elvis Presley`s hair has appeared on the side of a downtown Dayton building.

I was standing in line at the bank and saw this tree through the window, so I got my camera from the car. It was hard to get into the parking garage this morning. Life can be so sweet on the sunny side of the street. DOROTHY FIELDS Wow! How much does it cost to ride? I had to step into a dirty alley to get this clean shot.

March 8, 2023
Nobody will ever want to take a picture of me at work. `Look, there`s a guy in a chair.` Don`t be saucy with me, Bearnaise! MEL BROOKS` HISTORY OF THE WORLD, PART 1 The only view I got of sunset was in the mirror. Renovations have begun (see February 19, 2023). The Oregon District gazebo has seen better days.

March 9, 2023
The corporate mascots of Stratacache. I`ve always wanted to shoot a goose. A sign of spring: the ice skating rink is dismantled. Another sign of spring: I crawl around among daffodils. I met a new friend at lunch today.

March 10, 2023
What happened to the warm sunny days of pre-spring? Teamwork -- of a sort. The introverted crossing guard. My daily trip through no-man`s-land of the crosswalk. Only two cars tried to run me over, with a cop nearby. Life is better with melted cheese.

March 11, 2023
That`s one shiny Bosendorfer. I`m glad there are no videos of my musical efforts. I`m a Steinway artist myself. A lot of young musicians received trophies today. Photo taken at 7:19pm: go ahead and start without me.

I had a feeling winter wasn`t finished with us. The instrument held closest to the heart. Music by [the other] Mozart. Now is the time to call in your donation. Some of the last Mikesell`s chips made in Dayton.

During public radio pledge drive week, my eating habits go into uncharted territory. Purple rice? Cheesecake is a pledge drive staple. I hide myself within my flower that, wearing on your breast, you unsuspecting wear me too -- and angels know the rest. EMILY DICKINSON American ingenuity takes many forms, like fearlessly driving the wrong way on a one-way street. I think I`ve done a good job of not complaining about winter this year.

Decision to buy, online order, and delivery all happened within a remarkably short time. It`s someone`s job to package these all day. The new batteries I bought (on the left) were $80. The previous version, which still work fine, are $45. I marked them to make sure I keep the new batteries next time I sell some equipment. I have a big shoot coming up and need power all day.

March 15, 2023
A certain restaurant thinks this is a napkin. I disagree. See March 13 above for news about my eating habits. I`m leaving work very late, but at least it`s not dark. I tried the new Girl Scout Cookie this year, but it can`t surpass the Tagalong. Dunbar`s sesquicentennial was last year, but I will likely never stop reading his work or learning about him.

March 16, 2023
Tomorrow is St. Patrick`s Day, so the Oregon District prepares for battle. Probably not enough. Some barricades keep people out, but these keep me in. I saw a pair of hawks flying over the neighborhood, and one of them had a branch in its mouth. Squirrels beware! True love always (or until it rains).

March 17, 2023
You`re wondering if I`ve moved to Dublin. I spilled some green on my shirt for St. Patrick`s Day. I`m always on the outside looking in. Dressed for the occasion. They were having a lot more fun than I was.

In graduate school, I made a presentation on Social Judgment Theory. I talked about how a person`s background influences their perception. I said that a person from a warm climate might be cold in a place where someone from a cold climate feels warm. Recently I`ve come to realize that 35 degrees in March is intolerable, but 35 degrees in January is comfortable. And last week it was too cold to go to a classical concert (see March 11), but tonight it wasn`t too cold for jazz.

March 19, 2023
A photo taken with bitter resentment because of cold. Someone else is always having a worse day than me. I managed to keep my shopping bill low this week by forgetting to buy things I need. My eating habits have returned to normal this week. When will spring really get here?

March 20, 2023
Someday we`ll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers and me. PAUL WILLIAMS After the cold and snow, they`re bowed but not broken. It`s National Make Friends with a Duck Day. It`s National Feed Moldy Bread to Ducks and Make Them Sick Day. The tricky part is being higher than the gull.

March 21, 2023
When I get off work now, it`s warm enough to walk around outside and take pictures. She`s starting to show her age. Out for a drive. Was that necessary? I unexpectedly got a check, and a 23-year-old notice telling me to write a letter to the IRS if I have questions.

March 22, 2023
These guys are still making it hard to get in and out of my parking garage (see March 7 and 10 above). And this guy nearly runs me over quite often. Memento mori (see March 13 above). Did you see that movie Everything Everywhere All at Once? There`s a direct correlation between the quality of my photos and the weather outside. It was cold and rainy.

March 23, 2023
Everybody waits for the beer guy to finish his delivery. The spice must flow! All the springs of the great deep burst forth . . . . . . the floodgates of the heavens were opened . . . . . . and rain fell on the earth. GENESIS 7:11-12 I got rained on too. Hopefully nobody took my picture.

March 24, 2023
This piano would be good for playing chromatic scales. Accordion, trombone and euphonium celebrate Bach. Nice hat. You`d probably recognize the tune if you heard it. A bird flew into this foggy window and left wing prints.

March 25, 2023
Disclaimer: I was at a park, but this was taken indoors. And this one was not taken indoors. Today I led a class on how not to take photos like this. In the eternal struggle between robins and worms, robins have the advantage. At this point, the wind nearly blew me into the pond.

March 26, 2023
The Loch Ness Beaver. `There goes our luggage.` My first butterfly photo of the year is a highly anticipated annual ritual (see March 27, 2021). These were in a planter and probably grown indoors. I hope spring is here to stay this time.

March 27, 2023
The end of Haydn`s `Farewell` Symphony. Yeah, those wooden boards will make everything okay (see February 10, 2023). The day looked better than it felt. Just needs a little fixing up. Hanging around downtown Dayton.

March 28, 2023
There`s nothing better than a springtime walk. Sleeping with one eye open isn`t really sleeping. They won`t be here long -- might as well shoot `em. I`m tempted to use the last caption again here. The competition for nesting space is very high right now.

March 29, 2023
Yeah well, I still complain that it`s cold in my office. Springtime in the city. I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday. ABRAHAM LINCOLN I expected somebody to come out and arrest me. In case you`ve lost face.

March 30, 2023
Somebody was giving out food, so geese and ducks agreed to swim together temporarily. Mud, mud, glorious mud! There`s nothing quite like it for soothing the blood. FLANDERS AND SWANN I was thinking of pizza here (standing near a restaurant`s exhaust fan). New lights at the baseball stadium (see April 5, 2018). Bureaucrats at the state capital sent me a letter to say they no longer send me letters.

March 31, 2023
Because I could not stop for Death -- he kindly provided a motorcycle escort. This machine plays music on the radio. I`m unnecessary. Another year of confinement begins. Every weekend for seven months, my neighborhood will be barricaded. Did you see that movie `Das Boot`? Improvements at the gazebo (see March 8 above).
