Hey, have you ever thought about being a model? If they knew how boring I was, they wouldn`t follow me. Believe me, city life isn`t as good as country life. Day one with the new camera:  VERY SATISFACTORY. Ambulances are like geese:  I can hear them coming and prepare my camera with the proper settings.

I am ready to fill in the missing letter. After a two year absence, WGI is back! There will soon be a big hotel across the street from where I work.  I`m not sure that this is a good thing. You want a sweatshirt like mine (see February 3, 2022). We have one glove left.  The pandemic better end soon.

No thanks.  When it`s cold and raining, I drive. Looking for someone`s password?  Check under the keyboard. I saw these as I drove past and had to come back. I like tree blossoms, but not enough to eat them. Getting my gear ready for this weekend.  I have more memory cards (otherwise, how could I take this photo?).

Three days. Twelve hours per day. 205 color guard shows. 34,000 photographs. It was a busy weekend.

The color guard world championships were canceled in 2020 and 2021. The event returned this year. I was again fortunate to take photos of the competition. I saw shows that made me learn, laugh and cry. Color guard is one of my favorite things to photograph.

Dayton is legendary. Color guard performers from around the world dream of competing at the WGI World Championships in Dayton. They spend their money and time to travel here by car, bus, train, plane and truck. Meanwhile, I can drive to the arena in five minutes. The world`s best performers make it easy for me to take great photos.

The celebration continued into the early morning. These photos were taken after midnight. Some well-deserving people won medals (see June 13, 2021). This was the first time in years that I was surrounded by people who aren`t from the local area. One random performer said:  `I`ve never felt more alive!`  And that`s why all of us come together for this mayhem.

The first humble tulip in my backyard. You can`t have a rainbow without a little rain. The bond to one`s hometown is very strong. Garden Station used to be an outdoor art gallery and community gathering place.  Now it`s a pile of dirt. Springtime is one of life`s greatest gifts.

I`ve bought and sold a lot of camera equipment lately, and do not currently have a macro lens for closeups. Springtime morning in the Oregon District. He`s been given a raise at work (see April 5 above). It was sunny when I walked to work in the morning . . .  . . . but threatening to rain when I walked home.

Day 103:  so far, so good. I can be found here every weekday from 2 - 6pm. Avoid this sidewalk if you can. Art inside, artistic on the outside. I like watching the patterns of toxic sludge on the river.

It`s Thursday morning:  time to block my street for the weekend.  It`s not annoying and inconvenient -- really! Urban archeology. Clouds and glass. Clouds and canvas. With the street closure comes parking violations.

Built ram tough. On Good Friday, read Chapters 1 - 3 of John Steinbeck`s novel `The Winter of Our Discontent.` That`s my soul up there.  THE POLICE (see January 7, 2012; May 2, 2013; March 15, 2017; and April 25, 2018). Who needs Photoshop when reality is dramatic enough? Every day, I`m getting closer to the point when I can say I`ve seen everything.

After three years, roller derby is back! A big crowd was there to cheer them on. I`m always in awe of the fearlessness of the jammers. The blockers try to stop them, but usually can`t. Pictures like this come to you courtesy of some very expensive new camera equipment.

First day of nature photography with my new camera:  VERY SATISFACTORY. I don`t mind crawling around on my knees in springtime. The grackles were having a battle for air superiority. By the time you see this, the flower is already gone. I wuv my new camwa!

April can be a cruel joke. Volunteer appreciation. It stopped snowing. Food pictures are desperate pictures. Some people keep appearing on my calendar (see March 1, 2021).

Huddling together to try and stay warm. I`d walk or take the bus, but would never ride a bike. Where the sidewalk ends. One mallard against the world. The long and winding road.

I`m taking two days off work so I can work even harder. For the next four days, I`ll be taking pictures here. The WGI World Championships continue this weekend. I bought a `blazing fast` memory card for my camera. The new card requires a new card reader.  This is getting expensive.

This would look better with a person standing there. I`m pretty sure I heard their teeth chattering. I was too far away to hear their teeth chattering. Remember the fallen. Urban bunny.

My annual flute photo (see June 3, 2021, and June 8, 2020). Dayton has low points, but its libraries are high points. This one includes a quotation of a Dunbar poem that used to be in a different library (see February 9, 2006). Eventually the library will have a statue of Dunbar here. I`m wearing my winter coat in late April.

As scenes like this played out over and over, I had to stop looking out the window. Everything seems promising at the baby shower . . .  . . . but pretty soon you`ve got a kid on a leash. Left over from somebody else`s party. I didn`t know there were prizes at baby showers.

I`m not sure I want to know what`s going on here. Garden Station is now a deep pit (see April 11 above). I can smell spring with my nose and feel it with my eyes. Prom night in the Oregon District. Motorcycle night in the Oregon District.

The Ohio Redistricting Commission hard at work. Helmets?  Who needs helmets? Akron had the advantage of speed and agility. Another activity was canceled because of rain today, so that left me free to take pictures of rugby. Though I don`t understand the rules, I know Dayton lost.
