Those clouds mean I need to go home now. Polite, law-abiding cyclists. Impolite, law-breaking motorist. When it rains outside, it rains inside my parking garage. Infrastructure.

Keep a song in your heart. I like to go out early and get chomped by mosquitos. Delicacy. Monumental. Did you drop something?

July 3, 2021
Somewhere in America. It`s a party in the USA. Whenever I hear music, I walk in that direction. A cool way to keep cool. A work in progress by Boy Blue (Ben Baugham).

I got up early and walked to the river to take pictures of the fountains (see July 1 above). I`m still waiting. I wasn`t the only one to come to the river early today. I wouldn`t make a good goose. I don`t flock. I`m more like the solitary blackbird. Suddenly two figures emerged from the trees.

The hood ornament started out as an engine gauge. You don`t have to clean up after this kind of horse. You`ll feel old when you find pieces of your life in a museum (see December 9, 2015). The new ranch hand is awfully quiet. I saw a squadron of photographers with giant lenses looking for eagles. I ignored them and wasn`t sorry.

It`s always nice to see a friendly face in the morning. Our society would be perfect if people obeyed the signs. I got into a territorial dispute with a rodent -- and lost. These blocked my street Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. You know, `the weekend.` I had to consult two owners manuals, but I finally got these two flashes to work together with my camera.

It turned out to be dragonfly day. There used to be these things called butterflies, but they`re all gone so now I shoot dragonflies. I set a new record for mosquito bites in one day. The sun, 93 million miles away, sparkles off the wings. A hummingbird moth is better than a dragonfly.

There was supposed to be a thunderstorm tonight. But fortunately, the weather was great for a concert. A band called Making Movies performed at the Levitt. I walked over, took some photos, and heard good music. It was a pleasant Thursday evening in downtown Dayton.

July 9, 2021
The multitalented Anna Marie (see February 28, 2019). Last year, Kyshona Armstrong gave a memorable virtual concert from her living room. Today I saw her in person. Another nice summer night spent at the Levitt Pavilion. Another concert venue in town presents has-been bands, but the Levitt has musical acts that are current and vital. After Ohio, the band will play in North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, Massachusetts and New York.

Dayton had a good day, thanks in large part to No. 10. Goalkeeper is a hazardous occupation. I take hundreds of pictures during the game, and then afterwards I look at them and discover some turned out. The visiting team had only enough players for the game. They couldn`t make substitutions and rest their players. Oh yeah -- it`s air show weekend.

July 11, 2021
There is beauty in symmetry. Remember last year when nobody would touch anything in public? That really wasn`t such a bad approach. Your daily bug. The woman in the window. Taking photos every day really keeps me on my toes.

July 12, 2021
Hang on, it`s Monday morning. Besides chipmunks and rabbits, I think I saw a vole. It`s not just the photos. It`s the quiet solitude in a tranquil garden where I can sit comfortably beside a rabbit. Daisies look good for only a short time, and I missed it. It was a little rainy, but not too bad.

July 13, 2021
I can get out for a few photos before it rains -- I hope. You should be dancing, yeah! Dancing, yeah! THE BEE GEES Well, that`s the end of that. I like my water under control. The coming concert season includes Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Dunbar.

July 14, 2021
You`re a grand old flag, you`re a low-flying flag, and forever in peace may you wave. Looks good -- still vacant (see June 28, 2021). That`s what I was afraid of (see March 28, 2021). I don`t want to see one of those rolling down the street. Somebody has a lot of work ahead of them. At a loss for words (see October 9, 2020).

July 15, 2021
This man is timeless (see September 12, 2014). Ducklings have grown up (see April 23, 2021). Butterflies are almost nonexistent this year, so I stalked this one for a long time in the hot sun. She`ll remember this as The Place with the Ducks. Message in a broken bottle.

July 16, 2021
I haven`t been able to do much poultry portraiture lately (see October 9, 2020). I went to the fair to take pictures of a different event, but got there just in time for a horse costume contest. Kids and creativity result in good pictures. A hunting group brought a petting zoo of dead animals. Who will take home the coveted trophy?

July 17, 2021
Equestrian events teach young people many character qualities. One of them is patience. It was a LONG day. These riders don`t realize how exceptional they are. Ordinary people can`t come close to doing what they do. I recognized some riders from last year`s events. In some cases, the rider was the same but the horse was different. It was sunny, it was rainy, it was cloudy, it was muddy.

July 18, 2021
Giovinezza e bellezza. Jugend und Schonheit. Jeunesse et beaute. Juventud y belleza. Youth and beauty.

July 19, 2021
Squirrels go nuts at this time of year. Sometimes simple is best. Pink and prickly. Condensation. I don`t like cats, but Betty White gets by on three legs, so she has at least earned my respect.

July 20, 2021
A flying fracas fought by five finches. They`re so small and fast, I was lucky to get this picture. This finch would rather feed than fight. I stayed in the garden and avoided the prairie today because I didn`t want to get chomped by mosquitoes. Sometime last night, dew dropped in.

July 21, 2021
Before. For the first time in my 34-year broadcasting history, all of my music was played from a computer and not CDs. I don`t want any of my coworkers to eat this big fatty muffin, so I`ll eat it myself for their protection. When lunch arrived, I was reminded of school days. City bunny.

July 22, 2021
During. I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black, yeah. THE ROLLING STONES I hope you didn`t want to drive through the Oregon District. Urban beautification. Pandemic conditions are changing, so I`m eating more grapes and fewer tomatoes (see October 5, 2020).

July 23, 2021
After. I really enjoying discovering music that`s new to me. Tonight I learned that there`s definitely a right way and a wrong way to photograph a trombonist. `Get up on your feet, Dayton!` From here, they go to Washington, Oregon and Alaska.

July 24, 2021
Basically a rat, but cuter. I recognize the white spot on its head (see July 12 above). I think this bee was sleeping until I took this photo. I waited for dragonflies to arrive, but due to a schedule conflict they did not appear. Stand out from the crowd.

July 25, 2021
Lay me down beneaf de willers in de grass, whah de branch`ll go a-singin` as it pass. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Eight-tenths of a second on a Sunday morning. It`s been a rainy summer. I hope this photo will urn a lot of recognition. Big town, small city.

July 26, 2021
Monday morning daredevil. After the boat roared past, tranquility was restored. Heron right to left. Cormorant left to right. Hanging around the prairie.

July 27, 2021
Chipmunks hang out in the same places (see July 24 above). I walked by very slowly, hoping to get into the painting. We surprised each other. Your daily cormorant. The mosquitoes definitely had the upper hand today.

July 28, 2021
Pie in the sky at the Dayton Arcade. Dueling fiddles. This isn`t the Celtic Festival. That was canceled. It`s easy to recognize ballet dancers on their way to rehearsal. It was time for a new desktop image (see May 29, 2021).

July 29, 2021
I`m glad bands from all over the country come here so I can take pictures of them in DAYTON. He played several instruments, but only one at a time. This is still not the Celtic Festival. That was canceled. It`s windy up there on that stage (see July 8 above). He regretted wearing a flannel shirt on a humid night.

July 30, 2021
The morning buzz. Mourning dove at morning. I am not. Status report (see July 14 above). Two days later, I noticed there was a bee in the flower.

July 31, 2021
There`s a photographer over there in the shrubbery. Minutes before dancers hit the floor, there was no floor. This is clearly not the Celtic Festival. That was canceled. Because of the sequined dresses and different kinds of shoes, Irish dancing must be an expensive activity. In 1986, I graduated from college and Anita Baker released `Watch Your Step.` Now both of us are relics.
