Remembering George Floyd. The front door of my building at work was smashed during Saturday night`s protest. Snowplows on alert in case there`s a riot (or a blizzard). I ate a half moon. I`ve started putting events on my calendar this way, so I won`t need to cross them out when the get canceled.

I think it says NO DROWNING. And then a very large shadow passed over me. Bugs for dinner AGAIN?! Nature runs riot in the most beautiful way. I was at the right place at the right time with expensive camera equipment, but luck was still a factor in this shot.

Maybe my little neighbor is dreaming of when she can go to space in the future. Potato chips, oh how my mouth just drips. Crunch, crunch, I don`t want no lunch. All I want is potato chips. SLIM GAILLARD Things fall apart (see April 4, 2020). I should probably get more exercise. I`m still not tired of taking pictures of flowers.

The popcorn trees popped a little late this year (see May 25, 2004). Sidewalk scenery. What might be an eyesore in another neighborhood is totally acceptable in the Oregon District. I got the rained on the first time I went outside, so I tried again later. Guess what happened. This is the type of dull photo I take during the winter.

Grub lunch. With plants or people, sometimes profiles are better. I had to stand in a similar pose to get this shot. After lunch, why not take a quick bath? There was mixed bathing going on.

More helicopters, snowplows and protests today. Before the protest began, Dayton Police went around collecting things they didn`t want to have thrown at them. If you are neutral in situations of injustice, then you have chosen the side of the oppressor. DESMOND TUTU (Letters by Adrienne) Why I will never participate in this activity. What do you call a man with a seagull on his head? Cliff.

A giant bee inside my house would freak me out. But on a flower outdoors, we get along just fine. In my photos, there are often two sparkles in the eyes of animals and birds. One is the sun, and the other is me. Placing a pink flower behind the insect was my choice, and a good one. Each spiderwort blossom blooms for only one day. The climax of the day came with my first coyote photo.

Firing up the flashes to see if they still work. I haven`t taken portraits in a long time. I haven`t had much contact with people lately. The City of Dayton has noticed that the house across the street is falling apart (see April 21, 2020). I can save my cheap headphones with cheap earpads.

Brad Pitt had been stuck at my place since March. I was able to return him today, but couldn`t go inside myself. Happiness comes from enjoying everything you have. Now that`s intensity. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Looking down on me from the sky.

Sometimes photo shoots happen spontaneously. Other times, they require lots and lots of planning, like this one. I`ve been hesitant to do photo shoots (and to do much of anything), and I wore a mask the entire time. We could`ve taken pictures outdoors (where it was hot) or indoors (where there was clutter in the background). My 13-year-old friend is a model, musician and athlete. And yes, I made her dive face first into the sand.

It`s just a flesh wound. I`ve had worse. A pretty view spoiled. For the past few months, I`ve ordered groceries online and hardworking Kroger employees put them in my car. The Kroger grocery pickup system isn`t perfect. Today I ordered graham crackers and this is what I got. I`m not sure where the City of Dayton found the money to pave Wayne Avenue, but I`m glad they did.

Spring days almost make up for the horror of winter. `Hi, what are you doing?` `I`m taking pictures. What are you doing?` `I`m exploring the river.` What are you doing? `I`m sipping nectar through my proboscis.` Sometimes the problem is too much sun. Bath time again (see June 5 above).

Have you met my friend Lily? I love the smell of a chocolate cake just out of the oven. Have you met my friend Daisy? Brother there`s far too many of you dying. You know we`ve got to find a way to bring some lovin` here today. MARVIN GAYE (mural painted by Atalie Gagnet and Tiffany Clark) Every picture tells a story, but this story isn`t about a human being.

I want to believe. There was one female and three males, so it was a noisy morning on the prairie. `I`m a pollinator too!` You can`t even imagine what it took to get this shot. Just when I thought I was done taking pictures today.

Fifth Street manifesto. Weeds spring eternal. American prosperity. The eye of suspicion. Weeds spring eternal.

June 16, 2020
This week I went back to working Monday through Friday, and the RiverScape fountains started spraying. Can normality be far behind? Most people still seem to be working from home, so my parking garage is almost empty. So I guess that makes it okay when one vehicle takes up five spaces. Do you like licorice? King purple. My lunchtime adventure was walking outside with my camera. Other people have different kinds of adventure.

June 17, 2020
I walked through the prairie this morning and thought, `I want to do something different today.` Then I saw this. The bees were out early, and so was I. Another example of `something different` today. I`m pretty sure it`s smiling. Seed feast.

Calling all pollinators! It`s hard to get started in the morning when your eyes are covered with dew (see September 9, 2016). Pictures like this don`t draw attention to themselves. You have to look for them. There`s probably a psychological disorder about people who watch others take baths (see June 12 above). As I took this, a groundskeeper was nearby, slurping her Slurpee, and probably wondering what my problem was.

June 19, 2020
Thing 1: no hawks nested in the neighborhood this year. Thing 2: When I look outside, there are maybe 8 - 12 squirrels in my field of view. Thing 3: all those squirrels need to eat. Thing 4: the squirrels are prematurely eating walnuts from the tree in front of my house, making a huge mess everywhere. It`s not either/or. It`s and. It`s a mistake to leave home too early. What happens when all your tires are flat and your windshield is broken (see April 1, 2020).

June 20, 2020
This event wasn`t canceled (see June 1 above). I stood here knowing this would be the shot of the day. I belatedly figured out where to stand so the riders were looking in my direction when they came over the jumps. I spent a lot of money on a big lens (see October 26, 2010) which amazed me on the first day and still today. `Put me in, coach!`

June 21, 2020
Crime and punishment. Sasquatch eats in the Oregon District. To everything turn, turn, turn. PETE SEEGER Today is summer solstice, the longest day of the year! Oh, not that guy! Don`t open the door!.

June 22, 2020
Human beings: I just don`t get them. Birds: I get them. To get good pictures, you first have to notice things. He knew someone was nearby, but he couldn`t see me. Thank you for the important work you do.

June 23, 2020
WHAT? It`s 6:22pm and I haven`t taken any photos yet. Down by the riverside. Surf Dayton! Wondering what the humans are doing down there. Surfaces.

June 24, 2020
Most of our struggles are just us fighting ourselves. You weren`t there to see this fleeting moment on a perfect summer morning, so I took this photo for you. Someone spilled their cookies and the birds ate it up. Peanuts contain healthful fats, protein and fiber, along with potassium, phosphorous, magnesium and vitamin B. Territorial dispute.

June 25, 2020
B is for bubbles. B is for bugs. B is for bloom. B is for butterfly. B is for bridesmaids.

June 26, 2020
Today`s picture-taking began at 4am. The aftermath. Okay, something`s going on here (see June 3 above). Life will rise. There were daisies nearby, but the hybiscus was reaching out to me.

June 27, 2020
My picture-taking plans were washed out today. Do you feel a draft? Love in the time of coronavirus. I have a lot of gift certificates to use up. Bubble bubble, toil and trouble.

June 28, 2020
Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be. ROBERT BROWNING Sometimes we see things from a different perspective. And thereby hangs a tale. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (see October 18, 2013). There were geese (and goose poop) all over the place. She prophesied to passing cars at a busy intersection.

June 29, 2020
Lily drops. I admit I scared this bug so it would fly to a better spot. Quietly, gracefully, I approached in my heavy boots. After 16 years of taking pictures every day, I now have the world`s largest collection of mediocre photographs. See food!

Another morning dawns on our troubled planet. M. C. Escher on South Jefferson Street. I miss concerts at the Levitt Pavilion. What you can`t see can really hurt you. Stay in the light.
