La cathedrale engloutie by Claude Debussy. There is something subversive about this garden, a sense of buried things bursting upwards, wordlessly, into the light, as if to point, to say: Whatever is silenced will clamor to be heard. `The Handmaid`s Tale` by MARGARET ATWOOD Keeping my neighborhood a clean and friendly place. If I hadn`t seen it myself, I wouldn`t have believed it. In my neighborhood, juggling clowns are normal.

Sydney in nature. Sydney on stone. Sydney on bench 1. Sydney being beautiful. Sydney on bench 2.

Last time I saw her, she was dressed like a peacock (see October 29, 2016). In 1992, her name was Cindy Crawford. I told her not to worry about all the bees. Ah, the beauty of springtime! This photo is why they installed that fountain.

Surf Dayton, Ohio! They were so cute, I had to put down my camera and just watch as they swam past, going `peep, peep!` It`s still rock and roll to me. BILLY JOEL Prepare to merge. At yesterday`s photo shoot, Kelley brought me cookies.

Keeping an eye on Second Street. Sculpture by Jon Barlow Hudson. Sculpture by anonymous. Wanna play a game of Poohsticks? On an extraordinary spring day, I take ordinary photos.

June 6, 2018
I wanted to walk across the bride to the other side of the river, but then I remembered (see May 14, 2018). There were gulls relaxing here, but they scattered when the heron asserted its authority. I stayed far away, to avoid sneezing. Ominous. Keeping a close eye on the construction site.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace. ISAIAH 52:7 It`s a good place to live -- most of the time. I hate it when people begin a project but don`t finish it. Somebody`s dog was barking like crazy as I took this. Not my problem. Photographing this flower was much quieter.

Weddings are a lot of work. There`s fruit on top, so it`s good for me to eat them. First this happened. And then this happened. Katie & Andrew.

June 9, 2018
He must fly back to his perch and cling when he fain would be on the bough a-swing. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Prices slashed on classical music! I decided not to walk to the outdoor dance performance. But Icarus ignored the warnings of his father Daedalus, and he flew too close to the sun and his wings melted. Data -- there`s always more data.

June 10, 2018
There`s so much beauty in the world, and I`m just happy to be there to capture it. Perfection does exist. Not surprisingly, we collected a lot of spectators. On a Sunday morning, it would be hard to get run over. I should publish a photo book about girls from Vandalia (see June 3 above; April 3, 2016; and July 12, 2008).

Down in the dew. Ostentatious orange among verdant green. Tadpole shower. Tadpole bath. Climb ev`ry mountain. OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II

June 12, 2018
Renovation projects always get more complicated (see May 14 and 17, 2018). Another brood. Where is the father? SPLASH! Afternoon rainstorm. Why do we kill the thing that keeps us alive?

June 13, 2018
I had rainbow toast for breakfast (and nothing for lunch). Somebody got a new camera -- not me this time. Hawaii is just a string of volcanic outcroppings. Here`s the shot I was going for on the day my flash died (see September 29, 2017). Why settle for just painting the town red?

June 14, 2018
Photography is very demanding, but it`s also rewarding. A sunny morning on the prairie. I know how the uncaged bird feels. I have a promising future ahead in insect portraiture. A busload of student photographers suddenly appeared (see September 15, 2015, and September 15, 2016).

June 15, 2018
Flowers exist for one reason: to create more flowers. This is true of every living organism (I`m talking to you). Kind of Blue. Dayton: the place where the rivers meet. ROCK STAR! Rock star in training.

June 16, 2018
I`ll just watch, safe and dry, from the edge of the lake. I had to carry on a conversation with a human as I stalked this heron. Let`s hear it for the pollinators! Butterflies are becoming rare just like the bees. Next stop, Lake Erie.

June 17, 2018
A dewy morning in the garden. Spiderwort is a tiny flower, so this is a tiny, tiny bee. Not a butterfly, but I`ll take it. The morning grub. Robins and cardinals were upset about a prowling cat.

June 18, 2018
Look ma, no hands! I always try to begin each day with a smile. Prairie coneflowers far away from any prairie. Fido meets fresh asphalt. Other people go places. I`m happy to stay here.

June 19, 2018
What I looked like this morning. What I look like this afternoon. Once again, I decided NOT to walk downtown (see June 9 above). Uhhh . . . this tree is not healthy. It`s starting to clear up.

June 20, 2018
What to do when the little ones start acting up. Looking up, looking down. Filth versus rain, and rain is winning. A tiny explosion of color. Reflective robin.

June 21, 2018
Sometimes it`s really hard to get started in the morning. Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin, and yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. MATTHEW 6:28 & 29 Everything looks better with dewdrops on it. Pinterest thinks birds eat seeds from cute pinecones. But birds really eat old rice from dirty containers.

June 22, 2018
I paid dearly for this photo in mosquito bites. If I get up early in the morning, I might get to experience brief encounters like this. After that, it`s work work work. Some insects cut flower petals to make their nests. I sing my song, and all is well. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR `Not another photographer!`

June 23, 2018
The bright colors of flowers are attractive to pollinators. It`s another bug day in the garden. Those are some strong mandibles. No dragonflies today -- just flies. Flowers are fireworks in slow motion.

June 24, 2018
Keeping tradition alive. Creating new traditions. The past and the future. At one point, we were told to put away our cameras and just watch and remember the ceremony. I liked that. It was a sunny day for a pow wow.

June 25, 2018
The morning commute. Sometimes it`s really hard to get started in the morning. I didn`t have to wait long for this drinking bird picture (see May 26, 2017). I came upon a family of urban bunnies. The wind was blowing so hard, I felt the spray.

June 26, 2018
A large puddle or small pond outside my house. Remember the fallen. It`s a little too late for dew, so this must be rain. Mailbox hieroglyphics. The speed of light wasn`t fast enough to avoid the garbage truck.

June 27, 2018
The first concert at this new venue is on August 9. Here`s where someone ran out of paint -- or motivation. Separate lives, crossing paths. In case you were wondering whether ducks have ears. A nature photo taken on a sidewalk beside a parking lot.

June 28, 2018
As up he wings the spiral stair, a song of light, and pierces air with fountain ardor, fountain play, to reach the shining tops of day. GEORGE MEREDITH There are lots more bugs around you than you realize. I was stalking a cardinal, but found a robin. Another bug. You`re welcome. It circled down and down and down . . . and landed.

June 29, 2018
Ludwig wants you to donate to Discover Classical. I shoulda learned to play the geetar. DIRE STRAITS Spectrum. On Friday nights, a lot of people from the suburbs come to the Oregon District. Quill.

Sixty years ago there was a wedding -- and a cake. Today there`s an anniversary -- and a cake. From grandpa`s tackle box. She came all the way from France to learn how to fish (see July 11, 2015). She came all the way from France to eat cake.
