Who`s ready for spring? Raise your hand!. This morning I got up before everyone else. I`m glad to see this is a well-managed forest. Little birds like this appeared to be nesting in between large stones on the ground. It`s warmer than the trees. `OOOHHHHH that`s cold!`

At the art gallery. All the comforts of home. Don`t tread on me. Obelisk by Eric Hamlin. Walking through a dark alley at night.

Nature photos taken during the winter are much different than those taken in the spring and summer. We really need to get a different groundhog. No robins or cardinals -- just a few skittish sparrows. There were also a few goldfish under the ice. Even in winter, Smith Garden never disappoints.

I took all of today`s pictures sitting in the same place. When she goes to college, she will major in enthusiasm. I was probably the only person in the gym who was concerned that the competition was behind schedule. Warming up for the Super Bowl halftime show. Teamwork makes the dream work.

I will never comprehend such self-destructive behavior. Convergence. WARNING: winter ahead! I always feel like somebody`s watching me. ROCKWELL Time keeps on slipping into the future. STEVE MILLER

I have no clue what those little lights and symbols are on my car dashboard, but I`m familiar with all of this. The stabilizer doesn`t seem to be working. A cold winter night is a good time to take pictures of my camera for a photography workshop. Macro is a widely misunderstood term. Product placement.

Despite the snow, it was a beautiful sunny afternoon. I saw a shadow moving across the snow, so I looked up. Needless to say, there were no other humans around. If you were an American coot from northern Canada, you`d fly to Ohio and think it`s warm enough to swim. Icicles in triplicate.

When winter covering all the ground hides every sign of spring however you may look around, pray what will then you sing? PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Another sport I`ve taken photos of but don`t understand. People often see just one side of an issue. A late night at the office. Asymmetry bothers me.

Paddling around the WSU pool. There`s lots of precipitation in the forecast. This is a harmless way to release frustration. New this year was a paddleboard for defensive use. There can be only one winner. Everyone else swims.

My busy day began with a photography workshop . . . Then I put on a suit and went to a country club . . . There was a raffle. I took pictures of that . . . Some people sang. I took pictures of that . . . At least it was warm.

Paul Laurence Dunbar was a man of letters, but apparently not enough letters. Seen my lady home las` night. Jump back, honey, jump back! PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR When Angelina Johnson comes a-swingin` down de line. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR University of Dayton art students created beautiful handmade books that contained poems by Dunbar. The books used an ancient Chinese binding technique called dragon scales, but the design was very modern.

I have to remind myself to look up occasionally. Waterlogged. Same old coot from February 7. I wish it had a mate. The world it turning slowly back toward springtime. I walked a long way toward this gull, thinking `It`s not just going to stand there and wait for me.` But it did.

UPDATE: it`s still winter. An exhibition of artwork inspired by PLD and MLK is at the Schuster. This piece is `Echoes` by Kevin Harris. I`m glad I don`t have to make up titles for all my photos. Winter is for the birds. Meet me at the corner.

I normally don`t eat glitter, but today was special. We often have trouble expressing our feelings clearly. Chocolate = love. Writing is really all about rewriting. Time to take my fifth photo for today.

I don`t live on this street, but a lot of other people do -- and they`re taking up the parking spaces on MY street. And to make the parking situation worse, construction workers and their paraphernalia take up more spaces. Replacing water pipes in a historic neighborhood means all those bricks have to be removed and then put back. Be careful if you walk your dog around here. I`ll be glad when these go away.

It`s rare to see a penguin in downtown Dayton. Today there was no sign of spring. It`s rare to see a giraffe in downtown Dayton. A couple of window cleaners told me where to shoot. It`s rare to see -- one of these -- in downtown Dayton.

Teenage girls fearlessly do things that I would never do. Soaring above the crowd. I could do that, I just wouldn`t want to mess up my hair. All of the high school gymnasts in the area were here. My goal was to take pictures and keep out of the way.

February 18, 2018
Not one bird was visible, but the squirrels were active. You are the promised kiss of springtime that makes the lonely winter seem long. OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II Amber waves. Thanks, I`d be glad to, even when there are no flowers. A pond for pondering.

February 19, 2018
It was obvious that I was the subject of its scrutiny. Springtime was in the air, and the birds could feel it. Right here, right now, there is no other place I want to be, watching the world wake up. JESUS JONES Sorry, Emily Dickinson, the swamp isn`t yet pink with June. Spring training starts on Friday.

February 20, 2018
There is a place where the sidewalk ends. SHEL SILVERSTEIN It was another beautiful proto-spring afternoon. It was so warm today, the ice skating rink melted. It was a good day to trim a tree or two. Maybe I should start saving up for a new car.

February 21, 2018
Collisions. Thanks, coffee drinkers and cigarette smokers. Flowers of winter. Upwardly mobile. I just saw a movie about Watergate, and now I see this. A taped door in 1972 led to Nixon`s resignation in 1974.

Shave and a haircut, two bits! I tend to look down on the rest of the world. No one is allowed in that building, but you can`t control artists. Beethoven wants you to support public radio. The Great Metropolis.

February 23, 2018
Don`t say anything bad about me at work. These pipes carry voices from all over the building. What happens if you borrow money from the wrong guy. I could go to an arts event tonight and interact with people, or just take dumb pictures in the elevator. The elevator it is. I interacted with people last night. Indulgence.

February 24, 2018
Snow is melting, flowers are blooming and flags are spinning. It must be color guard season! It`s still early in the season, so it was obvious that some shows will change and develop in the coming weeks. Bellbrook High School may be the team to beat in 2018. I usually get paid to photograph color guard, but today I just went as a spectator and sat among normal people. Only for color guard would I pay $13 admission and $5 parking.

It was colder than either of us wanted it to be. It had rained all night, but at least it wasn`t snow. A few hints of spring were visible. Miniature landscape. When other friendships have been forgate, ours will still be great. COLE PORTER

I don`t need any books. So I bought three. Geese are loyal to and protective of their mates for life. There are probably birds living inside this unfinished building, thinking they`ve found a good place to nest. Mists of the Biltmore. Networking.

February 27, 2018
From left to right, built in 1976 , 1847 and 1970. I didn`t notice at the time that there are TWO mirrors. I`ll have to go back and stand in both reflections. Today was a perfect preview of spring. What? Where? How big? Good luck figuring that out. This reminds me a little of September 26, 2007. On such a pretty day, I could only take pretty pictures.

He`s got the whole wall in his hands. Coming soon: daffodils. Pondering. Working outdoors in February isn`t too bad. Walter Welder.
