That was one uptight killdeer. Beginning another day alone, completely self-reliant. Oh, and here`s a picture of a gull. The gaggle stops to gargle. Family outing. Stately like swans.

June 2, 2017
Your daily gull. Yesterday`s ducklings got in over their heads, but all turned out well. For the love of money is the root of all evil. I TIMOTHY 6:10 Little drummer girl. A toothless dragon.

Hanging around the pond on a sunny Saturday. Sometimes I even impress myself. The adult geese eyed my suspiciously, so I stayed clear. Oh, the things I had to do to get this shot. Let`s not forget this bashful pond dweller.

June 4, 2017
Nobody home. I always seem to have the wrong lens on the camera. Beating the bushes hunting for cicadas. After I decided to leave, I saw this butterfly on a flower. Glittering diamonds appear overnight free of charge.

June 5, 2017
Another grizzly bear incident downtown. The vegan building. This is Dave Hall. He discovered Dave Hall Plaza. I took shelter from hail on my short drive home. Five minutes later, the sun was shining.

June 6, 2017
Cute as a button. Well, cuter than a button, actually. Gloria in D major, RV 589, by Antonio Vivaldi. John Brown`s Body, better known as The Battle Hymn of the Republic. It`s a beast to move and to tune, but it sounds pretty. I like rehearsals better than concerts.

June 7, 2017
The Kettering Children`s Choir is celebrating its 30th anniversary. I get backstage access at their performances. They performed music that is beyond most youth choirs. I`ve been taking pictures of the KCC for many years and have watched lots of the kids grow up and graduate. Neal Gittleman was guest conductor of Vivaldi`s Gloria.

June 8, 2017
Eve Plumb, who played Jan on `The Brady Bunch.` Eve Plumb`s shoes. After springtime floods, the river is settling down now. When all else fails, point the camera up. In the lawn sprinkler.

June 9, 2017
The color of royalty. Good health to you and your kind. The small bird fearlessly drove off the big bird. My allergies are better since I got the space helmet. Today`s mystery.

June 10, 2017
This picture was taken with a dozen people watching during my photography workshop today. No pressure. Among the paths to Eden. It didn`t rain, but the sprinkler was going full blast. Don`t stick your tongue on that! One last bug on the way to the parking lot.

June 11, 2017
New library (left) and old tree (right). Vegan goose. A 3-D heron flies past a 2-D heron. Jazz is happening right now. Jazz will happen soon.

June 12, 2017
The orange glow of sunrise. The Dayton skyline is mostly sky. The city cousin of the chipmunk from May 28, 2016. On a sunny day, I can do almost anything. A clean building is a happy building.

June 13, 2017
What did the pirate study in college? ARRR-chitecture. Today`s entertainment at Courthouse Square. Some people walk calmly down the sidewalk when it rains. I don`t waste my time taking pictures of them. My old glasses. My new glasses. It was time for a change.

June 14, 2017
The back fence. Today`s mystery. Salvador Dali was here. Look closely in the garden. Native American tribes used the purple coneflower to treat colds, coughs, toothaches, boils and snake bites.

June 15, 2017
Apparently recovered from the harrowing incident (see June 2 above). Adrift. It`s the only way to travel. Soon to be transformed. I go outside on a spring day and everything is okay.

June 16, 2017
A century-old retaining wall looks as good as new -- actually it looks as good as old (see April 24, 2017). Going down is much easier than going up. Gimme a towel. The fireworks show came early this year. Most roofing jobs in this area are done by Mexicans. That`s because we`re so upwardly mobile.

June 17, 2017
This photo took some perceptive observation, patience and sneakiness. And $5,000 of equipment helped too. If I`m not lazy, I can get pictures of the morning dew. Their little frog legs are starting to emerge. My orderly mind loves the disorderly patterns of nature. When the mercenary photographers show up, I know my quiet morning in the garden has come to an end.

June 18, 2017
A bird on a branch is worth ten on a fence. Pull up a chair. Taking photos, every day, by myself, of whatever I want, might explain why I don`t behave as you`d like me to. My ears heard a different cardinal, but my eyes found this one instead. Most of them are not as obvious as this but, day after day, my pictures are full of memento mori.

June 19, 2017
I foolishly ventured outside without an umbrella. From a distance, I thought it was a person in the water. I walked a long way for this shot, and got splashed for it. Taken on a busy sidewalk with traffic driving past. It was the kind of day to walk in the shade. Once a year I`ll eat cake, even if it`s orange.

June 20, 2017
Summer solstice eve. My hometown. It was a perfect day. Only 25 more letters to go. Lacking a high cliff, falcons have nested up there.

June 21, 2017
Sunflower lover. What an old wreck! And the car is in bad shape too. Rustling up some grub. It was honking a warning about my approach. It`s not possible for a Great Cormorant to be in Ohio.

June 22, 2017
Yes, Dayton has a professional football [soccer] team. Why hasn`t Sports Illustrated called me? A concussion waiting to happen. I left before halftime and don`t know or care who won. `Hi, my name`s Miguel, and this is my boot.` (See May 2, 2015)

June 23, 2017
I don`t know why this cat bothers coming to my porch (see April 12 and May 20, 2017) since I don`t feed it. Close encounters of the bird kind. A million ants marched urgently from the left to the right. A million ants marched urgently from the right to the left Urban gardening. It rained today, and rained and rained.

June 24, 2017
I respect your work, but prefer to use my camera. Dragonflies spend much of their time doing this. I had a bird lens on the camera, not a bug lens, but worked hard to get some nice closeups anyway. There were dragonfiles swirling around this turtle. I had more dragonfly pictures, but decided to spare you.

June 25, 2017
Climb ev`ry coneflower, `til you find your dream! This picture just needed to be taken. I had to obey. As I was taking this good picture, someone came up and started telling me where I could get good pictures. In my youth I used to take a lot more pictures of flowers. Now two in one day is unusual. What, no birds today?

June 26, 2017
Fish haven`t got a chance against a beak like this one (see also June 21 above). Somebunny was watching me take pictures of the bird. Semper fi. Just a quick bite for lunch. My luxurious parking garage.

June 27, 2017
Happy Birthday, Paul Laurence Dunbar! He sang of life, serenely sweet, with, now and then, a deeper note. From some high peak, nigh yet remote, he voiced the world`s absorbing beat. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Along the flooded bike path. Like father . . . . . . like son.

June 28, 2017
Sophia is a Greek word that means wisdom. I had to get a picture that showed her shoes. She was last seen on this page on October 24, 2015. It was a beautiful evening in the garden. At this point, the mosquitoes were chomping us both.

June 29, 2017
Another day at the office. How kids entertained themselves before electronics. A little bluegrass in the afternoon. How to hurt your back. Wise words from the sidewalk.

June 30, 2017
Show a little heart. As soon as these ducklings were down for a nap, the mother flew away for some much-needed `Me Time.` Life is better with sprinkles. What short basketball players see. Oh, for the breath of the briny deep and the tug of the bellying sail, with the seagull`s cry across the sky and a passing boatman`s hail. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR
