It has been raining a lot lately. Chubby ducky. High water mark. Old cars with Missouri plates are on the streets of Dayton as a Robert Redford movie is being filmed. Rituals of friendship.

May 2, 2017
Downtown moviemaking, continued: Robert Redford is going to rob that bank in `The Old Man and the Gun.` Old cars in movies sometimes look a little too perfect. That delicate balance between mankind and nature. Predator and prey. I know: sometimes you just gotta stop and take a photo.

So many beaks to feed! And you thought mowing your yard was bad. Lunchtime! I got a nickel, shiny and new. I`m gonna buy me all kinds of candy, that`s what I`m gonna do. This photo wouldn`t have happened without patience.

May 4, 2017
There goes the neighborhood. First it rained . . . And then it rained some more. Too much rain. Much too much. After such a downer day, I needed some raspberry tea.

My furnace shouldn`t be running in May. Preparing for a shoot tomorrow. Everything looks good. First flash works. Second flash works. Second flash stopped working, and never did again.

I was early, they were late. But they eventually arrived and I lined `em up. I have not been inside this chapel for a really long time. It has changed a lot for the better. Long time no see. The stained glass is improved: newer but less modern.

I should work for the CIA. I shot this remotely, turning the camera on and taking a photo using a smartphone. It`s a bar, on wheels. Everyone is drinking, and driving. Lumbering slowly through traffic using pedal power. Chalk art? Sadly, no. Chalk art? Surely, yes. When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it`s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. GEORGIA O`KEEFE

And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. GENESIS 7:19 Surf Dayton. There`s water EVERYWHERE! Take a gander at those geese. You too can have a shirt like this for a gift of only $500.

May 9, 2017
Blue, like the news itself, changes from day to day. Danger. Layers of Dayton. Splash! Ludwig van Beethoven`s String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95 `Serioso.`

May 10, 2017
I`m convinced these birds enjoy taunting me. Two ducklings, but no ducks. There`s a sad story here. Fish! Just catch one for me, please. `Worms again? We had worms yesterday.` Today`s hero award goes to this intrepid man who wasn`t going to let anything stop him from taking a walk.

Try as you might to keep them out, some people REALLY want inside this vacant building (see March 13, 14 and 15, and April 19 and 24, 2017). Sometimes you get the bird, sometimes you don`t. Spring has been suspended temporarily. I accidentally took an interesting picture. It`s okay, don`t feel bad. No one blames you.

Still hanging around (see January 17, 2017). How about a nice game of chess? WAR GAMES This building is for sale for $950,000. It looks better from the front. He has a moustache now (see January 21, 2016).

Happy birthday to a newly hatched robin. The face was familiar to me (see March 7, 2014, and June 18, 2016) but the hair came as quite a surprise. She kept smiling as lots of people were pointing their cameras at her during my photography workshop today. It was a beautiful morning in the park. And then I went to a concert, but I guess I could have just stayed home and watched it on the Internet.

Today I went to see Lily`s new pad. I also stopped by to see Iris. Hanging around Smith Garden. This butterfly landed on a plain green leaf and I thought, `Please move to something more colorful.` I heard several DIFFERENT bird calls coming loudly from a nearby tree and I knew it was a mockingbird.

Water not only keeps all of us alive, it also looks cool. Taken while crouching on the sidewalk at a busy park. He`s playing `While My Guitar Gently Weeps` -- on keyboard. Canadian immigrants. Here I am on the aforementioned sidewalk.

I think a glitter bomb went off in this room. Fossil evidence proves that cats were here first. Some kinds of art will never make it into a gallery. Because the music just sounds better if you`re barefoot. Tree-hugger.

May 17, 2017
I guess this means nobody is supposed to go into my former creepy parking garage (see March 13, 14 and 15, and April 19 and 24, 2017). It`s not safe OUTSIDE the garage either. Same old geese on the same old river. Oh, that`s unfortunate. Everyone knows it`s windy.

May 18, 2017
Bird`s eye view. Head in the clouds. This is bigger than you think (see December 23, 2014). Looking at you looking at me looking at you. Nice job keeping your balance. I sit at a desk all day, and still managed to hurt my back.

May 19, 2017
Thunderstorms all night produce this in the morning. All tied up in knots. Today is National Bike to Work Day. I drove, of course. Hungry for squirrels. Afraid of cats.

May 20, 2017
Among the roses. Sidewalk speeder. This cannot happen on my porch (see April 12, 2017). Same enclosure as May 1, 2015, but different occupant. Two Steinways are better than one.

May 21, 2017
A little touch-up and it`s good as new. Small-scale springtime. Beak . . . . . . to beak. My camera took a selfie.

May 22, 2017
Where flowers come from. It`s just one selfie after another with me. `Hey, take my picture!` `Are you sure?` I guess she was. It`s nest-building time. It wasn`t as clean as it looks.

May 23, 2017
Some people actually work for a living. I sit at a desk. When I come across a scene like this, my heart races. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. PSALM 91:11 The new library isn`t quite finished yet. I`ve finally started taking pictures in the morning before going to work. This is the best time of year!

May 24, 2017
We played hide and seek for a while this morning. Among the roses. This shot would`ve been easier with my cheap camera. I got up in time to catch the early bird. A passion for pollen.

May 25, 2017
I grew a city. The road less traveled. Don`t lose heart. The thin red line. Today I begin my 14th year of taking photos every day.

May 26, 2017
I sometimes see animals that other people can`t see. This is an example of why I get up early, go outside with my camera and stand silently for long periods of time. They`re at that awkward age. I can always hear them coming. After this I had to go to work and stay indoors all day.

May 27, 2017
I didn`t put the bib on his head. That takes a big sister. Her daddy makes some delicious hot dogs. This helps keep bugs off the back porch. Unfortunately, it doesn`t work on cats. He`s just as happy as the day is long.

May 28, 2017
Old-fashioned base ball among the trees. Swing! A pioneer woman`s work is never done. I didn`t ride the carousel. And I didn`t ride the train.

May 29, 2017
A quiet morning in the garden, completely by myself. The tiny tadpole is surrounded by even smaller specks that are recently hatched frog eggs. Down in the dew. I didn`t see one bee this morning. But there were lots of these around.

May 30, 2017
Workplace violence is on the rise. The new library is shiny silver. The new library is grotesque green. Where Luden`s cough drops come from. Doing what comes naturally.

Lucky guy works in a corner office. Obviously they`re a bunch of leftists. TO THE MIAMI - Kiss me, Miami, thou most constant one! PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Big Brother is watching you. At this point, some dude came up to me and wanted to talk about cameras. He had a Nikon, so I spoke slowly.
