Death becomes her. Dia de los muertos 2015. A new generation follows Mexican tradition. Not quite the four horsemen, but still fearsome. Faces in the crowd.

Standing beside the river today, I developed a theory about why ducks are called ducks. It came to me as I watched them repeatedly duck their heads into the water. An urban gull cruises over Main and Monument Streets. It`s beginning to look a lot like you know what. Private Fair keeps watch over downtown Dayton. I took a quick swim during my lunch break.

November 3, 2015
I`ve been enjoying fall lately, since it feels like summer. Tuesday was sun day. NO SKATERS. My pictures are really warped. Lunch break.

November 4, 2015
There weren`t many living plants to photograph today. Your life will end, but others will rise in your place. I spent this morning in a dewy prairie and the rest of the day inside of an office building. The prairie was better. Thank you chickadee, for being there for me today. It was a seed feast on the tall prairie grass this morning. I`ve never seen so many cardinals in one place before.

There`s a reason why it`s called the Stillwater River. Goose up, goose down. Nature doesn`t shout out to you, `Hey! Take my picture.` You have to be able to SEE. WARNING: Contains nuts. I guess they`re camera shy.

Summer has been held over by popular demand. How many birds do you see? Gone, but not forgotten. Thank you for your payment. Our dreams of happiness often get snagged.

November 7, 2015
Today I photographed this honeybee on a blooming iris. This is November, right? Back in the prairie, but there were no cardinals today. I just taught a photo workshop telling students not to take pictures toward the sunlight, and then I go out and do it. Franny had to be held back from the appetizers. I had to be held back from the dessert.

Support your local farmer. Not what I expected to take pictures of today. Not what I expected to take pictures of today. I`ve been like that sometimes: smiling, but broken. Ready to be smashed in the street.

November 9, 2015
Looks like it`ll be a day of gritty urban pictures. You`re in shorts, I`m zipped up in my winter coat. Stars, stripes and strong winds. This is someone`s home sweet home. We keep on waiting, waiting on the light to change.

November 10, 2015
Someone just remembered they don`t like tomatoes. I`m just sittin` on the dock of the bay wastin` time. OTIS REDDING Let`s get this show on the road. This is a whole lot bigger than you think it is. It`s going to be a BIG Christmas this year.

November 11, 2015
Today is the 30th anniversary of WDPR, Dayton`s classical music radio station. Lloyd Bryant, WDPR`s first announcer, brought the same Beethoven LP he played on that inaugural day in 1985. Lloyd looked at a picture of himself and the others who brought the station into existence more than 30 years ago. Two generous listeners brought us birthday cakes. While Beethoven`s Ninth Symphony played, we stood around eating cake and telling stories about the old days.

Decorating the Christmas tree for a little party coming up soon with 15,000 people invited. Freezing cold, I raised the camera thinking `I don`t want to take this picture.` But it turned out better than I expected. I know why the caged bird sings. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Everyone knows it`s windy. I`m pretty sure there`s somebody under there.

Yes, I am a city dweller. How many times have I taken this photo? Too many. Dona nobis pacem -- Grant us peace. Friday was sun day. How many times have I taken this photo? Too many.

After a heartbreaking defeat last year (see November 8, 2014) the Gilmour girls won the state championship today. You`ve got to have faith in your team. Twelve players on the court, and it comes down to two. By the second game, I was a better photographer than I was during the first game. Somebody wins and . . . well, somebody else cries.

They`re both very photogenic. I managed to get a dog blink. Could she be any cuter? Well, yes, I guess she could. And she`s strong too.

November 16, 2015
On the way to the post office in the morning. So that`s why it was painted (see November 8 above). Very clever, but it`s still a fence that says KEEP AWAY. Coming in for a landing. Welcome to my street. Vaguely reminiscent of the plane of November 23, 2014.

November 17, 2015
Reading is FUNdamental. `Did you notice the big yellow fire hydrant?` One sweet ride. They don`t make `em like that anymore. Maxim Roofing: running red lights since 1998.

November 18, 2015
Today I ran across a note from my younger self. Waiting until after work to take pictures is not a good idea. Preparing for my five-minute drive home from work. Wayne and Fifth. Curiosity rover confirms existence of rabbits on Mars.

November 19, 2015
I`m still taking pictures outside in the morning, just like I did in the summer. How long can this warm weather last? Autumn in the Oregon District. This leaf was completely dull on the other side. The leaves fall to reveal hidden danger. Good morning.

November 20, 2015
Dog gone. High-flying grime-fighters. It`s beginning to look a lot like you-know-what. Dayton. Just Dayton. I hear the drums echoing tonight, she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation. TOTO

I`m worried that there aren`t enough pictures of this child. So I feel it`s my duty to take more. There`s a`nothing can harm you with your daddy and mammy standing by. DUBOSE HEYWARD After picture-taking, there was delicious pumpkin soup. BOOM! Ready for Christmas.

November 22, 2015
Pairs of shoes appear often in my neighborhood, making me think someone is leaving them as a type of charity. Gaudy autumn. Opera starts at 3:00 . . . . . . and I`m still driving around looking for a place to park. Not as delicious as yesterday`s pumpkin soup.

November 23, 2015
I`ve been workin` on the railroad. Who says you can`t see the wind? William McKinley helps to build the new downtown library. With me, it`s selfies, selfies, selfies all the time. What Dieterich Buxtehude saw.

November 24, 2015
How to get killed in downtown Dayton. I`m not sure what`s going on here, but I`ll continue to monitor the situation. The color of solitude. I stop walking, circle around a few times, kneel on the sidewalk and take pictures of a leaf. Is this odd behavior? From the Main Street bridge.

November 25, 2015
ABANDON CART! Mutual distrust. ¡Dos helicópteros! What are you thankful for? A warm, indoor place to sleep? A sign in the window says this place will offer homemade macaroni and cheese. Hurry up and open!

November 26, 2015
Only the finest homes have Adam Alonzo photographs on display (see October 10, 2015). Happy Thanksgiving! I`m thankful for, among many other things, pumpkin pomegranate cheesecake. `Hey, will you take my picture? My name`s Robert Kennedy. I`m famous.` O what a noble pumpkin is here o`erthrown!

November 27, 2015
Onyx color guard rehearsed from 8pm - 1am the day after Thanksgiving, 10 - 10 on Saturday and 10 - 4 Sunday. They repeated the same flag and weapon drills over and over to improve their precision and uniformity. In the past I was impressed with how quickly they learned dance steps. This time I was impressed with how slowly and methodically they worked to refine them. Choreographers worked with individual team members to improve their performances. Normally when I photograph color guard, I`m stationary in a seat. But tonight I could get up and move with the team.

November 28, 2015
I have an idea. Still hanging in there (see November 22 above). I can see the tree across the street in this droplet. If it was me, I probably would`ve gotten the window fixed by now (see October 23, 2015). Mutual curiosity.

November 29, 2015
It`s Christmastime in the city. RAY EVANS I`ve noticed that this Web page gets a lot more visitors when I show pictures of babies. Besides babies, cats are also very popular. Limited life expectancy. Dead leaves. Looks delicious.

November 30, 2015
I tried hard not to show the cigarette butts. May brings the flowers to bloom, it brings the green leaves to the tree, and the fatally sweet perfume of what you once were to me. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR When seasons collide. Balloon animals gone out of control. Grass. It never stops growing!
