It would`ve been very easy to fall into the pond. The world is a dangerous place. Mourning dove in the morning. A water droplet on a blade of grass. Inside it, you can see other water droplets on other blades of grass. This could`ve been tragic. I was just about to kneel down when I noticed a bee was clinging to my knee.

The little girl who owns this bunny told me that she has trained it to sit still whenever she snapped her fingers. Dinner time! Temporary permanence. Rock music fans. Excitement at the Montgomery County Fair.

Every bunny`s dream. `I am an INDIVIDUAL!` NOTHING will separate him from his hat. Carnies and dead celebrities on the midway. Funhouse!

What has he got there? It looks like a -- I dunno. What is that thing? So it`s apparently not nuclear-powered. This must be an important step. Oh right, because everybody needs one of those.

She`s grown a lot since April 26, 2015. Fear is fun! My first tractor pull was noisy but underwhelming. Meanwhile, in the Entertainment Tent, a girl dressed like a bee played The Flight of the Bumblebee on a xylophone. And, in the barn, farm kids play games. A Saturday night in small town America.

`Do you have to wash your cow every morning?` `No, only when he lays in his own poop.` `I hate when that happens.` Yes, the county fairgrounds are in bad shape, but why not renovate instead of moving the whole thing to Brookville? It would be faster just to ride the horse through a car wash. Today I learned a lot about being a daddy, like how to sit on a bench in the shade while mommy pushes the swing. What better way to cool off than a water balloon fight?

This photo cost me several mosquito bites. I refuse to tell you how many shots it took to get this one. So I guess I like to take pictures of creatures in midair. During the livestock auction, I moved as little as possible to avoid accidentally buying a heifer. And another Montgomery County Fair comes to a close.

Nut season is at its peak, so I don`t park my car nearby. The early bird should`ve stayed in bed a little longer. Soon to be tattooed onto somebody`s flesh. Every cat has a dark side. In the endless conflict between spiders and mosquitoes, I`m rooting for the spiders.

If you`re thinking about reading the recently released book `Go Set a Watchman,` I recommend you (re)read Harper Lee`s true masterpiece `To Kill a Mockingbird` instead. You better believe that hurts. Prelude to a kill. Practiced hard, put on the uniform, drove to Dayton, and got beat three games in a row. Match point: the bleeding stopped after this.

They`re heading north, so that`s a good sign. Notice that I DIDN`T show you a bee in the past two days. This butterfly is a lifelong Ohio resident . . . . . . while this butterfly is a Mexican immigrant. Some cultures eat this flower, drink it or turn it into candy.

Hummingbird at rest. Spring is my favorite, but this year summer was better. First time on the high dive. Anti-gravity. This morning I watched the sun rise over a colorful garden. I watched, listened, thought and felt. I am a lucky person!

I made this shirt design my first or second year of college. I made this shirt design my senior year of college. Half-nibbled nuts everywhere (see September 8 above). In the year this building was constructed, Ohio State University played (and won) its first football game. The subtlety of real estate promotions.

A neighborhood landmark. Late bloomer. Sunset boulevard. Coming home to roost. Fluttering dragonflies are the source of the fairy myth.

September 14, 2015
Horizontal vs. vertical. Golden sunset, glistening river, paddling ducks . . . but it`s more interesting to stare at an electronic device instead. When the sun is this low at 6:45 in the evening, my instinct to hibernate begins to kick in. And then I was almost run over by daredevil biker boy. What purpose do gnats serve? Anybody know?

September 15, 2015
`Whatta you lookin at?` Have a nice day. Future salad. The Two Towers. This morning a school bus deposited a couple dozen high school photographers in my neighborhood.

September 16, 2015
The squirrels will come back for it later. The search committee will see you now. I get that feeling sometimes. The squirrels will come back for it later. Death among the shrubbery.

A neighbor`s planter serves as a miniature garden. `Get your own rancid bread!` Work faster! I want the new library to be done soon. She really needs a bigger brush. Prismatic.

Behind the scenes at your favorite public radio station. I`ve always been a fashion trend-setter. They never go out of style. They just get more expensive. Help me make it through the night. KRIS KRISTOFFERSON So . . . something good happened today, for once.

Don`t make him angry. He has a gun. BEFORE the race, everyone`s fired up. AFTER the race, not so much. So it rained. And then it rained some more. The face paint seemed like a good idea at the time.

Today I photographed auditions for Onyx, one of the best independent color guards in the world. All day long, the hopeful candidates learned new dance and flag routines. Even during an audition with no audience, they performed. I intend to follow this team for the next eight months. There were many emotional reactions when candidates were invited to join the team.

Thus begins a very busy week and lots of dull photos. Optical delusion. Reflections on downtown. There is justice in the world. This car had a parking ticket. I almost got pintura on my zapatos.

September 22, 2015
In the wilds of Oakwood. I turn my back on people in the park and focus on bugs. Autumn came early for this one. Change is coming. When it`s cold, this horse is very uncomfortable to ride.

September 23, 2015
Man vs. Nature. Climb, climb up Sunshine Mountain, faces all aglow. Fish breath. Fishing in the River Anduin, Deagol found the One Ring that had slipped from Isildur`s finger 2,500 years earlier. `Don`t even look at him. Photographers are so rude.`

September 24, 2015
Oh the places you`ll go! Thanks for noticing. If I ever get really hard up, I`m going in after those coins. I can`t stop taking pictures of the Schuster Center. Cellular antennas were not originally part of the Biltmore.

September 25, 2015
It`s been a busy week. I deserve a pumpkin fronana! Sorry, no beauty today. Judging from my pocket, it looks like I`m going to a concert after work, although I`d rather go home and relax. Larry is 50 years old, and his birthday cake is a week old. It may be possible that my desk is a little TOO uncluttered.

September 26, 2015
`What is this? I told you I wanted a Diet Coke!` Teamwork. It`s all about location and camera angle. Everyone was fine, but they didn`t finish the course. Two blondes at the horse show.

September 27, 2015
After seeing an exhibition of beautiful landscape photos by Brother John Lemker, I was inspired to zoom out . . . . . . but that didn`t last long. Butterflies in love. They don`t trouble themselves with questions about what to do or why, they just follow their natural instincts. `Whattya wanna watch tonight?` `How about the supermoon eclipse?` `Nah, I`ve seen it already.`

Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read. `To Kill a Mockingbird` by Harper Lee. Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read. `Lord of the Flies` by William Golding. Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read. `The Catcher in the Rye` by J. D. Salinger.

So . . . no pretty pictures in a garden today. Mr. Wall. To have and to hold from this day forth. Ugly new buildings are being constructed all over downtown. Why not reuse the ugly old buildings? You are here.

The emerald city. It`s been a great summer and I hate to see it end. Beware of the dangerous tree. Oh to be 24 again. Someone is watching from the Imperial Box.
