Morning on Hess Street. Signs of life in a rusty Ford Explorer. The Oregon District up close. Aslan and the red admiral. It`s a real fixer-upper.

July 2, 2015
Sit down and take a load off. `I sing because I`m happy, I sing because I`m free.` You might recognize Alexis Gomez from `American Idol.` There are two redheads in this picture. Look up!

July 3, 2015
Your daily bug. More fireworks. I guess the cat can`t read the sign that says NO PETS. How I spend my day off work. When a kid shows up with a collecting jar, it`s time to go.

July 4, 2015
Never tell anyone, `You eat like a bird.` More fireworks. Capturing today`s photos cost me many mosquito bites. Always surrounded a weak photo with two good ones. One last shot as I walked through the parking lot.

July 5, 2015
I saw it land a long way off and I walked toward the spot, but I was able to take just one picture before it flew away. This shot was much harder than it looks. I had to be TALL. I don`t fish, but I can appreciate the quiet tranquility of it. So much for quiet tranquility. It`s a lazy morning for everyone.

Next right: civilization. Family time. Smile! Behind every great flower there stands a photographer. Please don`t slurp.

July 7, 2015
`The Sign of the Green Hand,` by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. help The Parke. Fun with a garden hose. My worthy steed awaits. Table for one by the window, please.

July 8, 2015
Don`t look too long or you`ll have bad dreams tonight. Garden. How much is that hat in the window? (See June 12, 2015) Aww man, I`ve been getting overcharged. Free scratches.

July 9, 2015
Another rainy morning in Dayton. How appropriate. Fifth Street shop window. Descending animal 1. Descending animal 2.

July 10, 2015
Bee ticklers. In case you like to ride side saddle. (See June 13, 2015) The kneepads indicate this person is a professional. `So what is your daughter doing for a living nowadays?` `Well, she uh -- can I get you some more coffee?` I`m not sure who he is, but he has a brother named Oscar and another named Tony. And a sister named Emmy.

July 11, 2015
Yellow on yellow. Thirty seconds worth of waterfall. I bought a new lens. I predict a bright future ahead for this girl. She came from France just to eat carrots in Miamisburg.

July 12, 2015
Here`s how to play this game. First came the backyard cookout. And then the most competitive family volleyball game I`ve ever witnessed. Not everyone was allowed to play volleyball. Not everyone was interested in volleyball.

July 13, 2015
I`d take cover if I were you. Oh, why didn`t you listen to me? Running between the raindrops. It gets boring in the outfield. Was he playing `Take Me Out to the Ballgame`? No, `Hava Nagila.`

July 14, 2015
It`s the only way to fly. I`m breaking new ground here photographically: a picture of a bee on a flower. I know . . . shockingly original. My neighborhood is falling apart, and that`s one reason why I like it. I wouldn`t want to live in a new building. Leaf with water droplets 1. Leaf with water droplets 2.

July 15, 2015
This happens every sunny day and people don`t notice. Susan is shy. I had to endure harassment from a dog while taking this. This building is still standing -- for now. YOU ARE HERE.

July 16, 2015
Taking a picture of this skittish cardinal was hard enough without someone standing next to me asking for money. It`s all about the details. Merman. The restaurant across the street that HAS electricity is doing great business. The morning commute.

July 17, 2015
Good morning, sunshine! My biggest fan. `Wudda you lookin at?` It was love at first sight. Down the hatch!

July 18, 2015
It was 90 degrees and sunny -- a great day for portraits! The Goddess of Springtime. `Your eyes remind me of Liza Minelli, or that actress who got caught shoplifting.` `Winona Ryder?` `Yes, that`s her.` It was so sunny, it was hard for her to keep her eyes open. Neither of us expected a picture like this to happen.

July 19, 2015
More portraits in the hot sun, and more remarkable eyes. I took her picture outside for brief periods, then brought her back into the air conditioning and gave her cold water. Not surprisingly, our photo shoot attracted spectators. Youth, beauty, a couple of earrings and a hair band. Neither of us expected a picture like this to happen.

July 20, 2015
Animal curiosity. Animal apathy. He and the Mrs. were having a little squabble. Seen through a glass wetly. It rained last night. Of course it did.

July 21, 2015
Instead of photographing the same flowers and bugs this morning, I drove to a park that had other flowers and bugs. Nothing but common butterflies were around, but later in the day I saw a tiger swallowtail while I was driving home. `She`ll never find me up here.` Without color in the background, oh how dull this would be. And I am the one who put that color in the background. My best flying butterfly shot yet.

July 22, 2015
The early photographer gets the early bird. The new downtown library rises into the sky. It`s a summer morning. What better reason to sing? I forgive you. This picture is why I went for an early walk this morning.

July 23, 2015
Sorry, that doesn`t work with me. Not really early, but early enough. The heart of the rose. Ten strings. On the street where I live.

July 24, 2015
The Dayton Ginger Festival is going on this weekend. Do you know `Danny Boy`? Jigs and reels. Even without music, these dancers make a deafening noise thanks to those hunks of metal on their shoes. Far from the madding crowd.

July 25, 2015
I haven`t been on this campus for a long time. Nice doorway. Suddenly a hundred people stood in front of it. I figured I might as well take their picture. He watched the whole thing without changing expression.

July 26, 2015
Here I go again, pointing my camera at beautiful scenery. She spent hours driving to meet me at my own front door. Country girl comes to the city. What`s her favorite color? She drives a pink pickup truck. Last week`s spontaneous picture becomes standard procedure this week (see July 19 above).

July 27, 2015
The best time to take pictures is right after the rain stops. Google is telling me that this bug belongs in Costa Rica. As I`m taking pictures of droplets, looks who shows up. If you look closer, it`s easy to trace the tracks of my tears. SMOKEY ROBINSON Bells are ringing nine o`clock. Time to get ready for work.

July 28, 2015
Look out below! This is why I don`t park under the tree at this time of year. Me in a Honda -- twice. Here`s the church, here`s the steeple. Good morning. Yes, it was a good morning.

July 29, 2015
So I guess there`s a totally white hibiscus. `Sorry pal, no room.` Best keep your distance. Artist at work. As of 12:45 today, I`m now a Fonana Fronatic.

July 30, 2015
Know anybody named Erick who plays the saxophone? The walls of my creepy parking garage are falling down, so I`m glad to see repairs (although that is my space). Sunset on the bikepath. I`m thinking it`s a killdeer or a plover. Lots of rain means lots of mud.

July 31, 2015
Decorating Courthouse Square. Two people are in this shot, and the reflection of a third. This rabbit is at RiverScape as often as I am. Sunset on the bikepath. He loves the fountain, but just try to get him to take a bath.
