For dinner I had macaroni and cheese, sweet tea, hot apple cobbler and jazz. It was a very satisfying meal. HAVE A NICE DAYTON. Who`s on First? Broadway comes to Dayton. The city`s oldest theatre has survived both fire and flood. A little construction dust won`t hurt her.

There`s so much I don`t know, but I know how to do this. Some of the light here came from 93,000,000 miles away. Some of it came a few inches from my left hand. If you have no choice but to shoot a single flower by itself, place something else into the shot, like some nice blur. Nearly all of the light here came from my left hand. The bugs were up early and waiting for me.

NATURE OFF LIMITS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE HAVE A NICE DAYTON. [I`m trying to originate a wildly popular catchphrase] Going postal. Five o`clock shadow. When all else fails, photograph a flower.

I`m thinking. Some people think that bowling is a real sport. Walking down an unfamiliar street, I came across an outdoor sculpture installation, and proceeded to give it my own aesthetic interpretation with my camera. Ironically, this is a sibling of the camera-loving soprano (see February 28, April 27, May 13 and May 26, 2012). Unidentified Flapping Object.

This iron fence will outlast this plant, but plants will outlast iron fences. And birds will outlast telecommunication devices. I have two articles to write and many other things to do . . . and so I sweep the kitchen floor. And then take a picture. DON`T LOOK DIRECTLY AT IT! After eleven o`clock, my photographic options are limited. There`s usually nobody else around to take a picture of. [Some of you may recognize the hands in the upper right]

There`s probably trouble ahead for the plants on one side or the other of this line of white paint. It suddenly got ten degrees cooler. Lunchtime! When all else fails, photograph the window blinds. When all else fails, photograph a ladder in a flower bed.

June 7, 2012
Okay, now turn your head to the side. That`s right. CLICK! Hey, blue eyes. It was peaceful in my neighborhood at lunchtime . . . . . . but then it got more complicated. A lot of emergencies are just hurry up and wait situations.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth.

June 9, 2012
It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It always perseveres. Love never fails.

No bobby pins? Try duct tape. Ready to fly away from high school. `Here I am!` DUCK! Someone shouted my name from across the arena, and I turned to find this face that I never thought I`d see again (see July 15, 2007).

I have cable. Just nothing comes out of it. Fine by me. I see spots. The network is down until further notice. Okay, here`s how it goes: when you`re thirsty, you get a drink out of the water fountain and you don`t create trash. Somehow, after yesterday`s commencement, I acquired these cords which indicate that I graduated with honors.

Sun flower. For lease. Good clean fun. Twinkle, twinkle, metal star. This honeybee hangs tightly onto the edge as it drinks, not wanting to make the same fatal plunge as the hornet that looks up lifelessly from beneath the surface of the water.

Every day is somebody`s. There goes the neighborhood. Which way? Hanging from my refrigerator is my high-tech calendar system. I`ve thought about using a mobile version, but then I`d have to carry a mini-fridge around with me everywhere. So it is possible to take a picture with the lens cap on.

June 14, 2012
Flag day. Rule of Thirds? I don`t need no stinkin` Rule of Thirds. I love the Rule of Thirds. The Oregon District: home of green and blue blobs. Disconnect.

June 15, 2012
High school colors -- not mine. High school reunion -- not mine. High school fragments -- sort of mine (see April 24, 2012). Somebody`s dinner -- not mine. Don`t look at me. I didn`t put it there.

Shortly after the power went out. Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Waterproof. Now everybody`s going to want one. My vertical leap is just amazing.

Lilylounger. Upsiedaisy. Microflowers. Protoplant. Webweaver.

As I told people in a photo workshop today, blur has a negative connotation, but it`s a powerful aesthetic tool. As I shot this photo, someone walked up and informed me, `No, you should be taking a picture of this over here.` Built to last. Massive freight trains constantly go by above. I`ll give you a hint: you`d come here to get a mouthpiece for your clarinet or the sheet music for `Hello Dolly.` Art is entrancing.

June 19, 2012
I have no desire to plant flowers in my yard, but I`m glad that other people do. `Did you shave your legs?` There needs to be a Frenchman`s face in there. I promised to catch it, but the cat wouldn`t jump. The paintin` o` the green.

Staying out of the hot sun. My National Geographic Field Guide to Birds of North America calls the House Sparrow, `common and aggressive.` In fact, this one asked me for five dollars. I was tempted . . . it was really hot today. Blazing hot outside, but jackets are needed in the office. The Mayans were right! The calendar ends abruptly in 2012.

June 21, 2012
72 degrees. 94 degrees. Soon to appear on an art gallery wall (see March 9, 2012). Yeah, so I walked home from work carrying a piece of butterscotch pie. You got a problem with that? Dinosaurs are cool no matter how old you get.

June 22, 2012
During today`s photography workshop, the students and I spent the first few minutes staring at the screen wondering if my presentation was going to run. On the sunny side of the seat. This charcoal sketch reminds me of some of my photos. No left turn. Why are you signalling to turn left? The end of a long day. One final snap.

June 23, 2012
BONSAI! Just bee -- bee -- and my shadow. Waterworld. It tickles. If I ever get really desperate for new things to photograph, I suppose I could always rent a baby.

June 24, 2012
A short while later, an ambulance was needed, but the skydiver is fine and will jump another day. As soon as guitarists see someone with a camera at the edge of the stage, they suddenly get all Eddie van Halen. And they PAID MONEY to be scared witless. Fabulous fun at the Fenwick Festival. Time for me to head home, yet others are still arriving.

Traffic lights don`t apply to FedEx trucks. What do you think the Ex stands for? If the FedEx truck can do it, why can`t I? Luckily, he came rolling past AFTER the FedEx truck. Forty years ago this week, his presidency began to fall apart thanks to bumbling burglars at the Watergate. Practicing my lines.

June 26, 2012
Today`s photos are the result of ten minutes and over 100 pictures taken amid the sunlit daisies in my backyard. Which one of the beetles was your favorite? Beware the white death. Just looking. Drinking fountain.

June 27, 2012
Nice idea to water the flowers . . . . . . but most of the water is puddling on the sidewalk. Sorry for the repetition, but bees are easy targets. `I`ll never become a real boy!` Despite appearances, someone lives here, while the abandoned house beside it has a neatly mown lawn.

June 28, 2012
Air conditioning. The morning buzz. It`s far from perfect, but it`s my home. When I walked past, it started wagging its tail. Then it tried to follow me home. Hey, I took that photo (see May 13, 2012). Only I know which choir members had to be heavily Photoshopped.

June 29, 2012
The broken piece of sign on the ground belongs on the building across the street. RiverScape takes a licking, but keeps on ticking. Massive blocks of concrete kept the tent on the ground. The smaller tents didn`t weather the weather so well. No one was hurt, but the Cityfolk Festival was cancelled.

June 30, 2012
The Cityfolk Festival endured storms and searing heat. The Queen of Bluegrass, Rhonda Vincent. I have no idea what kind of music it was, but I liked it. In case you weren`t hot enough already, try some of this. Stand at the edge of the stage and shoot until satisfied.
