An untapped market: pumpkin dentures. My neighbor has been conducting genetic experiments combining cat and pumpkin DNA. I hate it when that happens. That was some Halloween party. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, pumpkin to pulp.

Just a few weeks ago, I learned about the German photographer Harald Mante, and now it seems I`ve been taking pictures just like his for the past several years. Too far away to display their creations on the refrigerator at home, art students show their work in the hallways. Raw material. Finished product. Art takes many fascinating forms. Tonight I was privileged to observe the creation of a new dance routine.

It`s good for you to walk up the stairs. A campus landmark gets a major renovation. Where bran cereal comes from. Red as a ruby. Just a brick wall, but reminiscent of a moonscape.

Sliver of night, shimmer of day. Shivering, but surviving. A cold autumn rain kept me indoors this afternoon during lunch, but I can always take pictures through the windows. I`m glad I got thirsty, went to the drinking fountain, and noticed this window as I was walking past a classroom. Stairmaster.

She`ll have a full athletic scholarship someday. Teammates share fingernail polish. That`s gonna leave a mark. The UD Pep Band, as seen from the really bad seats. During the post-game autograph session, the forgetful frat boys had neglected to bring paper, and so the bashful volleyball players were reluctantly forced to improvise.

Wanqu de shù, liang cì feng (Tree that Bends Twice to Wind). Wújìn de yu qiáng (Wall of Endless Rain). Hua shèngkai de xiaofáng (Blooming of Fire Flower). Yongbào wu dí wuqì (Embrace of Woody Arms). Tàiyáng de jiàngdi cuìhuo (Quenching of the Lowering Sun).

She wanted to be sure her cute new shoes got noticed. After I did my duty to her shoes, I moved in closer. She was previously seen on this Web page on March 15, 2009. I sorely regret letting so much time go by. `My hair only does one thing,` she said. But with the skillful use a rubber band, an entirely new look can be achieved. Sorry guys, that`s an engagement ring on her left hand.

Encyclopedia humor. `Turn in English` could be a reminder to submit a writing assignment, or a new anti-British immigration policy. After last night`s photo shoot, I threw away the blue ribbon. First thing this morning, I ran back to the studio and dug it out of the trash. I have an idea for it! Why does Famous Photographer George Lepp get more people at his seminars than I do? The free cookies. Bobby Kingfischer. Al Capone.

This rather meaningless photograph illustrates just about everything I try to do when I take pictures. A pond for you to ponder. An uninteresting photo of leaves trapped in tall grass. A more interesting photo of leaves trapped in tall grass. Unfortunately, there`s no more interesting version of this.

You`ll never guess where this is. Surprisingly, there wasn`t a line of other photographers waiting to take pictures here. Thanks to the recent time change, it now gets dark shortly after lunch, so we had to move fast as we took pictures. She`s outstanding in her field. This will be a good dust jacket photo for her SECOND book (see September 18, 2010). SOMEONE later chased away the poor harmless ducks.

Does my neck look funny to you? Class outside in November? Never! We both like berries. Waiting for the final dress rehearsal to start. I kinda love my big ol` new lens.

I COULD do that, but I just don`t want to smell like chlorine. There probably used to be a reason why it was important to swim faster than other people. She`s just about to go off the high dive, and I can count her eyelashes. I kinda love my big ol` new lens. Not what I was trying to get, but worth keeping anyway. `Did I win?`

Falling. Spinning. Buzzing. Growing. Shimmering.

In every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts. MALACHI 1:11 Worship takes many forms. Get close to art. Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain (detail), a mixed media work by Matthew Szozda. Art instructor talks to senior photography major about her own photos.

Either my glasses are crooked, or my face is. Fortunately, the frames are still under warranty. In the parking lot of the eye doctor, it appears someone else had even worse luck with their glasses. As the weather turns cold and wet, it becomes more likely that I will take pictures of the living room blinds. Like a memorable song, sometimes I take a picture and it stays in my head for a long time (see November 7 above). I`m very slowly downloading a new software program for video editing. I have some projects I`m eager to begin.

Well, I try. Mashed breakfast, mashed lunch, mashed dinner. People drive past frantically as I wander a park aimlessly. Playground equipment at sunset. Phyllis Chen is an authority on the toy piano.

November 17, 2010
Leaping. Accusing. Soaring. Diverging. Supplicating.

November 18, 2010
Emoting. Rejoicing. Dancing. Posing. Flirting.

November 19, 2010
Flying. Playing. Spazzing. Kicking. Ending.

I frequently take pictures of the iron fences around the Oregon District, but this is a new variation on the theme. She liked this one because orange is her favorite color. Not long ago, she had long blonde hair. But short is cute. At this point, feel free to sing the theme song from the Mary Tyler Moore show. Where would photographers be without doorways to stand people in?

November 21, 2010
What the squirrel saw. It was a windy day. Encouragement from above. These were placed here by nature`s leaf blower. I don`t have time to read a 432 page photography book, but I wouldn`t mind being able to take pictures like that.

November 22, 2010
He who hesitates is lost. There was a nice streetlight glowing in the distance (just like in the butterfly shot of October 5, 2007), but it turned off just as I took this picture. Necessary for all life on this planet. And nice to look at too. Why watch TV when this show is on? Glitterati. Sunset in Kettering.

November 23, 2010
Please note that Thanksgiving has been pre-empted by Christmas. We apologize for any inconvenience. Angels and bunnies. Should be a big seller. Kid tested, mother approved. Ready for thousands of post-Thanksgiving visitors (or at least ready for their coats). Portable Shrine for El Hajj El Malik Shabazz (detail), by Willis `Bing` Davis, on display at the University of Dayton`s Roesch Library now through January 31.

November 24, 2010
Dinnertime. No turkeys were harmed in today`s Thanksgiving dinner. Some people like pets with eight legs. Some people like pets with six legs. O little town of porcelain.

November 25, 2010
Holidays tend to throw off my sleep pattern. Red sky at night, photographer`s delight. Practice makes perfect. Thanksgiving dinner, part two. I sketch ideas for photo shoots, but then either don`t think of using them, or can`t remember what the pictures mean.

November 26, 2010
In the Land of the Giants. Too excited to watch, the crowd hides under their seats. I get a charge out of watching basketball. `HEY!! Shoe`s untied!` The word `fan` is short for `fanatic.`

November 27, 2010
Start of the Pony Express, the first British Open tennis tournament, Abraham Lincoln elected President of the United States, South Carolina secedes from the union. Sometimes things are black and white, but often there are just shades of gray. The stars came out early today. Keeping people out, or keeping people in? Yes, these are color pictures today, though it`s hard to tell.

November 28, 2010
It`s impossible for my right hand to be in two places (unless this photo was taken with a long exposure). It`s impossible for me to be in the top of this picture but not in the bottom (unless this is a slit scan photograph). It`s impossible for my head to point in two directions at the same time (unless this is a slit scan photograph). My first attempt at slit scan photography was unsuccessful. Considering my improvised tools, that`s not surprising.

Kids aren`t hyper already about Christmas? Give `em a few of these. Where I hang out a lot. See previous versions of this sign on March 7, 2007; November 28, 2007; and March 12, 2008. Fortunately, you did not pay to see this worthless photo. Still having flashbacks to the blue ribbon photo of November 7. As the egg turns.
