Sharing among the species. Holy family in the trees. Folded paper and reflections from mylar. More folded paper and mylar. The next masterpiece.

March 2, 2007
Remember that scene from `Phantom of the Opera`? Hungarian violin. American violin. Somewhere in there is a reflection of me. Check out Guitar George: he knows all the chords. But it`s strictly rhythm - he doesn`t want to make it cry or sing. DIRE STRAITS

Flags, costumes and sleet: it`s time for winter guard. So you dropped your rifle, it`s not the end of the world. Three mimes are still pretty quiet. A lot of brown costumes this year. Rifles and sabres are okay, but flags are the best part.

March 4, 2007
DOF: Depth of Field. DOF 2. Clark Cable. A mirror on the front of the mirror. See you round.

March 5, 2007
I hadn`t been around to shoot this guy`s photo lately, but whattya know: he was sitting right where I last saw him. Living people in the cemetery? I later saw the runner on the left with ice packs around her calves. `Come on in, the water`s . . . not completely frozen.` Why I eat lunch in seven minutes and then go outside with my camera. I`ll bet it`s a sad song.

I started with a piece of beeswax and a wick . . . . . . and ended up with this. I was reluctant at first, but it`s so much easier to take care of now! Cold cops. After all the time, effort and money I put into an exhibition, I`m always surprised by just how little it amounts to.

March 7, 2007
Rags To Riches is a few aisles away. You know who you are. That squirrel is just nuts about photography. Previously, it was one red berry (see July 21, 2004). I hate to see that evening sun go down. (See me in there?)

March 8, 2007
Park your sled somewhere else. It was a shadowy day, as you will soon see. Long tall Sally. THREE COW HORNS OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN. My guess: they came from the heads of three cows. Balalaika: a stringed instrument of Russian origin, with a characteristic triangular body and 3 sets of strings.

Early achievers. Trapped. Arcade Square: the grandest facade -- and saddest story -- of any building in downtown Dayton. Oh, sorry. I didn`t realize the name had been changed to the more sophisticated Arc de Square. Just across the street from the Arcade is a much more successful downtown story: a Greek Revival revival.

Cardinals are very easily spooked, but this one never saw me because I was shooting out of a window. I wasn`t the only one watching for birds from a window. Yet another window shot. As far as pets go, fish have many advantages. For instance, they don`t bark or tear up the curtains. I`ve no idea what it is, but it`s even more docile than a fish.

March 11, 2007
Adam`s daily bird picture. Adam`s daily cat picture. Go easy on the layups to avoid the cinder block wall. He`s all about depth of field now, isn`t he? If you buy a joke here, do they put it in a bag for you?

March 12, 2007
This was my second home last year, but not this year (I stopped buying tickets so I could afford a new camera). Broken away from the great Arctic glaciers due to global warming, wandering icebergs drift southward. Suburban ducks insist upon toasted, multigrain crackers. Ashamed of his beak. On Silver Pond.

March 13, 2007
A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. REVELATION 12:1 `Chapel` means cloak or cape, but the name took on religious significance due to the cloak of St. Martin. As bright as the midday sun. I warned him it was electrified. Hopefully by spring my other camera will be repaired so I can take better plant closeups.

March 14, 2007
Adam Alonzo, wildlife photographer. Walks through the neighborhood are much more pleasant now that there isn`t ice on the sidewalks. Hanging on someone`s front porch. Who do you call about vandalism? Outnumbered by oil consumers.

March 15, 2007
I took a picture of the gold sculpture that was ON this little pedestal, but I find this much more interesting. You have my full support. An old Greek. Where does it itch? Glass as delicate as lace.

March 16, 2007
Pencil and prayer book. He sprinted a long way from the parking lot, but never spilled a drop of his coffee. Good knight. My arches are killing me! Downtown sundown.

March 17, 2007
The wearin` o` the green. Dancers were sometimes used to tap coded warnings to Irish Catholics who were forced to hold Mass in secret. `Look -- that girl has STRAIGHT HAIR!` Happy St. Patrick`s Day! We are the clay, and Thou our potter; and we all are the work of Thy hand. ISAIAH 64:8

March 18, 2007
`Here I come to save the daaaayyy!` All the comforts of home. I hope you have a microfilm machine so you can read it. The ragged flag in the Oregon District has been replaced (hopefully with approval of the Landmarks Commission). These boots are made for climbing.

March 19, 2007
March Madness strikes the UD Library (although things were already a little mad). She shoots . . . . . . the buzzer sounds . . . The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! I`m the good looking one on the right.

March 20, 2007
Where is the mazy dance of old, the flowing robes, inwrought with gold, the dancers wore? LONGFELLOW Le Spectre de la Rose. Flying flowers. These `triplets` are much more attractive than the `twins` from yesterday. Turned out just like I planned it.

March 21, 2007
Holy water. You spoke? Tabla: a pair of hand drums widely used in Indian music. Harmonium: a portable reed organ with a small keyboard and hand-operated bellows, invented in France and introduced to India by missionaries. Tanpura: a long-necked string instrument, plucked like a guitar or lute, that produces a characteristic drone.

March 22, 2007
The downtown Dayton skyline, seen through a rainy window. Mixed messages: a welcome mat and a locked gate. The Oregon District`s anti-bird campaign resumes soon. Americans just don`t get enough exercise. Not speaking to each other.

March 23, 2007
Ugly, isn`t it? I don`t care. It`s the first picture I took with my repaired camera. I was very happy just to get it back. They didn`t just repair the broken parts, they replaced them, so now my three-year old camera is good as new. Look out for that giant windshield wiper! At this moment, the radio was playing `Feel the rain on your skin.` Roadside goose. Don`t mind me . . . I`m just trying the thing out on the way back from the camera store. Remember that chapter in `The Hobbit` where the giant spiders bundle all the dwarves up in webs?

March 24, 2007
My specialty: dark-haired girls in trees. A fortunate combination of light sources. I hope she brushes and flosses regularly. A smile like that should be taken care of. This was my first chance to take pictures of someone outdoors in a long time. Well, not everything was outdoors.

March 25, 2007
The trouble with finding the perfect nesting spot is that you have to defend it. They just arrived from Lacrosse, Wisconsin. They just arrived from Frisbee, Wisconsin. Class project: redefine a common object. I chose an object that was so common everybody has two of them.

March 26, 2007
I`m between exhibits right now. The airplane wasn`t shaking, but my hands were. In Norse mythology, three weird sisters weave the tapestry of fate, and our lives are determined by their threads. Stairwell at night: angle 1. Stairwell at night: angle 2.

March 27, 2007
What the camera saw. No digital manipulation here. Bang the drum slowly. Someone asked me last week if I still play the piano. I said, `No, I have a camera now.` Which way is up? .llam eht dnuorA

March 28, 2007
It`s strange how some people pay me to take pictures when I would do it anyway. `I`m innocent! Get me my lawyer!` Be careful sitting down. Unconfirmed siding. Trees ready for bees.

March 29, 2007
A soccer player told me this week, `I hope they mow the field before our first game Friday night.` She got her wish. I get the best photos near turn 3 at Daytona. Who needs Invisible Fence? This one works just fine. Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands, Robed in the blooming garb of spring. JOSEPH AUGUST SEISS Don`t get squeamish. It`s the same thing we do to chickens, cows and pigs.

March 30, 2007
Normally I sit in the front row, but this time I was in the second, so I had to shoot between other people`s ears. A solo dancer gets all the glory -- or all the blame. A quiet beginning . . . . . . a big finish. This is the airborne dancer in the previous picture, after a quick costume change.

March 31, 2007
This is another of those sports were I have no idea what`s happening, but this goalkeeper appears to be in trouble. I was surprised to learn the area BEHIND the goal is part of the playing field (since I was standing there at the time). There were three referees on the field, but they did little but watch the players club and beat each other. [Play `Star Wars` storm trooper music here] His left foot was moving slower than the rest of him.
