My camera has an iris too. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil. PSALM 23:5 I`m looking over a four-leaf clover. Seeing red. `Do you MIND?`

It wasn`t until I had this photo that I fully believed there was someone jackhammering in front of my house at 1:15am. Under the boardwalk. Bridge over polluted water. Occasionally I take a picture that reminds me of the good old days when this was not drudgery. My studio photography teacher helps me figure out my light meter (you have to take your glasses off to use it).

One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind. Puddle bird. Small scale symmetry. Cat in the hat. `Two more days of school!`

You can buy my photo notecards at 118 North Jefferson Street in downtown Dayton. Go now . . . I`ll wait. With all their high-tech gadgets, students still have to use cheat sheets? Looks cool, and doesn`t need gas. He`s half the man he used to be. You`re still sitting there? Go get some notecards!

I`d like to see some-mo-a this Samoa dancing. There are people who are neat and tidy -- and then there are artists. Hold still! How`s she supposed to draw your picture? What accountants do after five o`clock on Fridays. The Chamber of Color.

Or you can just give me the money next time you see me. While Barbie was always well-behaved, her little sister Skipper developed a wild side. Once a fish nibbles, the dog goes in after it. Driver`s Ed is harder than I remember it. Planters.

Homage to Margaret Bourke-White. Thirsty? Someone`s probably watching. This bud`s for you. White on lilac.

He could just write the ticket and go, but I think he thrives on the confrontation (see March 7, 2006). In the student neighborhood, this house is affectionately known as Slanty. The same year I was founded. First of the year. Eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, sleep for a long time, fly.

Forget this picture and go look at August 10, 2005. Deer to my heart. A fragrant symbol of memory. I went to my first neighborhood association meeting tonight -- to pick up an air horn to scare away birds. During the police report at the meeting, I noticed there was an assault (No. 168) outside my house.

Clematis - purple. Clematis - white. Clematis - somewhere in between. Goose on the law building. What else is there to say? That`s how long it takes me to pick up photos from Click, then sit in my car and look at them immediately.

Take your avaricious eyes off the twenty for a second, this is important. The background of this image is WHITE. This is BLACK. Cameras adjust white and black to gray, which makes other objects in the scene too dark or light. Using my new and expensive light meter, I can set my camera in such a way to render white as white. Black looks black instead of gray, and the twenty isn`t unnaturally brightened. So even though it cost me MANY of those twenty dollar bills, I think it will pay off in the long run.

Have you noticed I like to sit near the front? `O Mio Babbino Caro` is a soprano`s two minutes of glory. No, she`s NOT singing `I Feel Pretty.` Sure you can see the conductor, but can you find the hidden soprano? Rumors of Toby`s death in Act II were greatly exaggerated.

Guess who was asked to be an official photographer at the 2007 color guard championships (see April 7 and 8)? The Bureau of Motor Vehicles never forgets my birthday. Temporary patriotism. The Blue Hen cafe (kind of a midwestern version of The Blue Parrot of `Casablanca`). Look up once in a while.

Mozart is very big this year. VERY big. The Schuster, slightly askew. A pleasant byproduct of the daily rains. A pair-a parasites. Dinnertime!

I`d hate to see the litter box. Sphilver sphere. Corner office. So much is riding on these tires. Photography is about contrast.

May 17, 2006
The Neanderthal who drew bison on the cave wall had no idea what he had started. Balloon animals should never be given growth hormones. Okay, explain how chlorophyll turns these red in the spring. Mmmm -- home cookin` -- just like Grandma used to unwrap. Have I mentioned it`s been rainy?

May 18, 2006
Brother, can you spare a dime? Shopping cart emerging from wall, of course. Tracy`s first attempt at coloring her hair was less than successful. The walls have [everything but] ears. Taken during a brief period between rainstorms.

My place is such a dump, I`m ashamed to even show you. What if Mary Todd Lincoln had been late to the theatre on April 14, 1865? I just take the pictures, I can`t explain them. A Schubertiad it isn`t. Urban Nights.

May 20, 2006
have nice niece. Same windows as May 7 . . . just a different angle. Fifi doesn`t like to be chained up.

May 21, 2006
`Have you seen the Entwives?` Did you know you can sing nearly any Emily Dickinson poem to the tune of `The Yellow Rose of Texas`? Suddenly I`m thinking about John Wayne. The World Cup begins June 9. Who spilled this light here and didn`t clean it up?

May 22, 2006
Always keep your piano shiny. And always keep your pencil sharp. The sun is setting on the USA, in more ways than one. Sitting pretty -- well . . . SITTING. Worm`s eye view.

May 23, 2006
Some people smoke cigarettes or watch TV during THEIR lunch breaks. Our highest assurance of the goodness of Providence seems to me to rest in the flowers. SHERLOCK HOLMES Bird busting in the Oregon District. Hidden by the tall grass, the puma stalks its prey. A show of support.

May 24, 2006
A new restaurant in the Oregon District. More traffic! More noise! Taking a break from self-absorption and cruelty. Not exactly perfection, but I can see it from here. Staying in shape. From where the dawn comes up like thunder.

`Who`s your friend?` Chihuly [Chuh-hoo-lee]. The relationship has had its ups and downs, but I`ve had my camera for two years as of today. Do you have Prince Albert in a can? Outside.

May 26, 2006
Inside. Perfection is temporary. The Oregon District`s anti-bird cannon. `I don`t THINK so!` A lot easier to take down than to put up.

May 27, 2006
Mom`s always there when you need her. They keep him in here on oxygen until it`s time to sing. `Hey, wait a minute . . . didn`t dad say not to get wet?` I hear people around me ask each other `What did you watch last night?` and it makes me kind of sad. Well, tonight I watched bees hover lazily over a rose-littered path.

May 28, 2006
And tonight I watched a squirrel in a bog -- sitting like a bump on a log. Also tonight I watched a free fireworks show. But I DIDN`T watch you-know-what. Today marks the third anniversary I`ve lived without TV. I`m so excited: I signed the mortgage today! Nuff sed.

Take pride in your work. A very slow, quiet day. Memorial Day 2006. Morning cat. Cornus kousa, or Japanese dogwood.

May 30, 2006
The haves (on the right) and the have-nots (on the left) -- although neither has air conditioning. Fallen from Serenity Pines. We don`t have renewable energy, universal health care or equality in education, but we DO have video billboards. Evening cat. Evening lion.

Convalescing. In the bowels of the public library. Birds beware.
