Why wait until fall? They look nice now. Foreign invader on my blue shirt. I`m not sure if that was a stinger back there, but I didn`t wait around to find out. Body at rest. Body in motion. Doesn`t he know WAR IS PEACE, IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH?

Memorial to soldiers of World War I. Cityfolk Festival! I don`t know what the first thing ever photographed was, but I`d guess a flower came pretty soon after. There`s a flower inside this flower. There`s a camera lens inside this flower.

Sunday morning. Let`s see that again from another angle. This sky is off limits. It couldn`t read the sign that said `No dogs in the fountain.` Scheduled for removal, it raises its arms to the sky in supplication.

July 4, 2005
Patriotic pooch on parade. A nice photo like this might urn me some money. `No thanks, I`m trying to cut down on pollen.` Look at the background. I wonder if this is what they see? Lunch!

July 5, 2005
I have a reputation among the neighborhood cats -- thus they hide from me. I`m sure there are cats behind that door. Hollow there! Liquid patriotism left over from yesterday. Barrels of fun.

July 6, 2005
Most of the flowers I photograph will be gone in a few days. Not these. Corner office. It came up to my hip. `La bicyclette engloutie` by Claude Monet. Time to water the yard.

July 7, 2005
Bees were nearby, but I think you`ve seen THAT shot before. Smells just like cleanser. Intelligent design. Aesthetic design. Straight-Ahead Jazz.

July 8, 2005
How did the spider learn to weave? Objects in mirror are cooler than they appear. Really -- I might use it again someday. Wet silhouette. Up, up and away!

July 9, 2005
I always thought that was the name of a song. A sad song, evidently. Flowers for remembrance. Effects of sun. Sometimes all I can say is, you had to be there to see what I saw. A bright laser pierces the dark night, and confuses a lot of poor bugs.

July 10, 2005
The human eye is an incredibly complex organ. Mourning in the morning. Yes, I`ve done this shot before, but I still can`t get over it. A rather complex mechanism to operate in a moment of panic. Some days dere`s beauty, and some days dere ain`t.

Susan, why so distant? Creepy Guy Roams Public Park with Camera, Local Residents Alarmed. Let sleeping bugs lie. [See November 3] [See previous caption]

July 12, 2005
Sometimes I have to provide my own horizon. Speckled sunrise. Flower or weed? Photos on my floor. Must be an exhibition coming up. These photos on my floor will never see an exhibition.

He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. MATTHEW 5:45 What did one wall say to the other wall? Meet you at the corner! The highlight of this afternoon`s staff meeting. That rusty powder is from the tree. When iron is wrought, it doesn`t rot.

On the arid Serengeti, the lion waits at the watering hole, knowing the thirsty wildebeest must eventually come. And as the wildebeest drink, the lion strikes its prey. Meanwhile, three feet to the left, a happier scene. And, on the ground, a sign of things to come. I`m very close to my lifetime quota of pictures of bees on flowers.

July 15, 2005
And they taste as good as they look! Nearing my lifetime quota of black-eyed susan pictures. Peas in trees? All in all you`re just another brick in the wall. PINK FLOYD Taking refuge underneath a truck.

July 16, 2005
Eastern black swallowtail - Papilio polyxenes. Northern cardinal - Cardinalis cadinalis. It wasn`t that creepy in person, since they seemed to be asleep. Imagine if they were all crawling around. About the size of a tennis ball. Sleeps four! This one declined to tell me its genus and species.

July 17, 2005
Repetitive? What are you talking about? You haven`t seen THIS blade of grass with THESE drops before. The photographic `expert` demonstrates depth of field. `Invasion of the Body Snatchers` (1978, 115 min.) Colorful plants from outer space replicate citizens of San Francisco. Four stars. Well, yeah, it looks a bit shoddy now, but wait until we hang the shutters. [This is the same wall from June 20, 2004] Having never planted flowers in my life, I am fortunate to have much more energetic neighbors.

It dreams of becoming a portobello someday. What a romantic porcupine gives to his true love. Triple Berry. I could probably dunk on that one. Crawling around the ground taking pictures of mushrooms this morning necessitated some evening maintenance.

July 19, 2005
It`s the rainy season in Nanjing, China. .eldduP Just being lazy. It flew away a moment later. Well, yeah, it looks a bit shoddy now, but wait until we put the flamingos in the yard. This guy`s never late to work.

July 20, 2005
The sad thing is that all these rundown scenes are in my own neighborhood. This one is right across the street. Psychoanalysis Psidewalk Psale. Today only! A very attractive, though totally useless, plant. What`s the scoop? Boyhood.

July 21, 2005
Hanging around Kennedy Union . . . again (see March 9). `I TOLD you to keep an eye on the ladder!` `Only 47 more rows!` Another Thursday night spent at the DAI. Music and passion are always in fashion.

July 22, 2005
Site of my new photo exhibit -- before. And after. Tiny bubbles. Theatre is my life. Friday quittin` time.

July 23, 2005
Are your photos feeling ill? Rush them to the Photo Clinic. We turned out the lights and began the workshop. My presentation held them spellbound. I turned my eyes to the floor in humility when they burst into an ovation. Thanks to this workshop, I can now take `Picture Perfect` outdoor photos.

Why pitchers need three days rest. Out or safe? Safe. Out. Schoolteachers on summer vacation.

July 25, 2005
How lovely. How deadly. Amid the most unsightly vacant lot. I`m just nuts about squirrels. Look at that big cloud. Look at that big cloud.

July 26, 2005
`EVERYBODY POLKA!` Commemorating the achievement of . . . . . . Wilbur and Orville. Clever camouflage is useless when perched atop a Toyota. Lights out for the sisters.

July 27, 2005
Where I park in the park. A distant trumpet. That`s a hungry beak in the lower right. Shattered dreams. Amphora? Am for a what?

July 28, 2005
Not an easy shot to get. You should be grateful. I shot a cat today. Hope you`re not eating dinner. Neighbors. Lawn sprinkler.

July 29, 2005
Morning on the Great Miami. Dawn was deceptively peaceful at Shady Acres on the day Grandpa revealed he`d sold the property to Wal-Mart. Presentiment — is that long Shadow — on the Lawn. EMILY DICKINSON Girls with curls. Evening on the Great Miami.

July 30, 2005
I was feeling equestrian this morning. I think people would respect me more if I carried a small whip. A rather hot day for dark jackets, gloves and boots. I saw one kid wearing a shirt that said, `YES, I was raised in a barn`. Though the stallion was a gift from that abhorrent Ashton, Veronica nevertheless grew to love her gentle Apollo.

July 31, 2005
I carry a torch for you. Nature`s subtle hint: don`t climb this tree. Am I at the wrong course? Where`s Arnie? Like something out of `The Hobbit` this web stretched across two trees ten feet apart. `YO! Rapunzel! You up dere or what?`
