Today`s the big day. Other people had trouble taking pictures of this with their not-so-smartphones, but my camera can handle it. Wait -- what? People don`t talk to me like that! I have a bold sense of identity. The presenters and performers at TEDx Youth@Dayton!

This photo confirms that I will work for food. Did you drop something? Is that a sand trap or a snow drift? This guy has a golf bag on wheels that propels itself. This shot works best with someone who is left handed.

I`m grateful that I have my own car to drive. I`m grateful that I don`t have to work outside. I`m grateful I didn`t start coughing during the opera. I`m grateful for a new package of Tagalongs. I`m grateful for a new bottle of cold medicine.

Recently someone asked me if I take pictures with a cell phone. I tried to remain calm and polite with that person. Behind the scenes at a radio station. The closest thing I`ve ever gotten to a cell phone selfie. Where in the world are you? Okay, this is weird: I`m taking a picture of myself taking a picture of my picture (see March 25, 2005).

Death by icing. You should know what you`re defending when you second the amendment. FLOR DE TOLOACHE In the last decade, the number of pedestrians killed by cars in the U.S. has risen 51%, due in part to idiot drivers who ignore red lights (see May 4, 2018). The safest way to enter a crosswalk in downtown Dayton. The mythical downspout of Damocles.

I got up early to stand underneath the palm trees. Crowds of people sat together at tables and mingled, while I stood aloof with my only true friend, my shadow. Remember her from August 10, 2017? The music was really, really, really, really loud. When evaluating this photograph, it`s helpful to consider that I`ve now taken pictures for 5,400 days in a row.

Good as new (see February 21, 2019). Schuster Center windows in miniature. The glaciers are melting. Something old, something new. You wouldn`t smile if you knew what was coming.

March 8, 2019
Today was an encouraging preview of spring. These are real flowers, but they were indoors. Two lilies in one shot. Plethora of petals. Surplus of stripes.

March 9, 2019
It`s guitar day! Jim McCutcheon is Dayton`s Guitar Man. You should support public radio. Really, you should. If you make a contribution, you`ll get some free stuff. Here`s some music for you while you make a donation.

March 10, 2019
Disappointed that I didn`t have any food to offer. `I AM DUCK! HEAR ME QUACK!` (see February 14, 2019) I`m taking photos outside in the evening and not freezing. This isn`t exactly what I was shooting for. It`s better. Someday I hope to make a splash in photography.

Pardon our dust. Window dressing. It probably jumped out in front of a car. Congratulations! Hungry?

March 12, 2019
Just the two of us, building castles in the sky. Just the two of us, you and I. BILL WITHERS I pay more attention to birds than people. That`s some flexibility. That`s some flexibility. Looks like it`ll be fish for dinner.

March 13, 2019
It`s March, so hawks are back and squirrels are chirping warnings (see March 18, 2014, and March 25, 2012). It rained, a lot. The groundhog was right: spring has come early. The Loch Ness Monster exists! It`s time to start building a nest and laying eggs.

March 14, 2019
It`s the final hours of a public radio pledge drive. It can be hard to convince people to donate their money. We made our fundraising goal -- barely. And across the street, we`re collecting more money. May the Force be with you.

WARNING: St. Patrick`s Day ahead. The wearin` o` the green. When Irish dancers walk down the sidewalk, it sounds like fireworks going off. Time to celebrate. St. Patrick`s Day is very popular in the Oregon District.

March 16, 2019
We take photos of things we love. I love raspberry tea. You can`t judge a play by its cover, but I like this one. Nobody`s going to crash this St. Patrick`s Day party. Imagine being photographed by someone with a gun. Drinking and driving is now a group activity.

March 17, 2019
I hope I look this good when I`m 152 years old. No fear. A look of suspicion. Reflections on downtown. Selfish people park illegally on Main Street at drive time. Incomprehensibly selfish people double park.

March 18, 2019
What`s beneath the black cloth? I`m branching out. It was a nice sunny day to take a walk downtown. Evergreens aren`t always green. Urban beautification.

March 19, 2019
The only known photograph of Oumuamua. Looks like I made it through another winter. To call this an elf would be a misgnomer. When Muppets are no longer wanted. Can we talk about your fat intake?

March 20, 2019
Not only did I get a free oil change, but I found out how important my radio station is to someone at the shop. Tulips will start blooming soon. It`s one bathroom mirror selfie after another with me. I see a frowning face. I`m looking forward to the first week of April!

March 21, 2019
Dayton keeps growing. I`ve got a long photo shoot tomorrow, and I`m the type of guy who charges batteries that I know I won`t need. My enthusiasm about spring causes me to overlook some of its flaws: it`s cold today. Standing tall. From the inside, my window is streaked with shadows.

March 22, 2019
A mad scientist, obviously. Who knew percussionists could be so passionate? We don`t need no education. We dont need no thought control. PINK FLOYD They don`t have to be theatrical, but I`m glad they are. Remember that Woody Allen movie called `Sleeper`?

March 23, 2019
Sunday, March 24, 2019: my daily photo streak nearly ended, but about 10pm I remembered to take pictures. At the pecussion competition yesterday, a random mom offered me chocolate candy to take pictures of her son. I took 4,335 photos yesterday. A few of them turned out pretty well. My most desperate pictures are taken in the kitchen. Cool, cool water.

March 24, 2019
Parking lot sentinels. Paraducks. Grasping for the impossible. It`s hard work to take a photo of something white at sunset without it turning into a glowing blob. Today was cold and windy, but at least it`s springtime.

March 25, 2019
Not a tree-hugger, but affectionate to trees nonetheless. I think it`s art, but I can`t say for sure. I`m pretty sure this isn`t art. No thanks. I require at least three more wheels. Chim-chim-i-nee.

Chasing the setting sun. Your daily waterfowl. It was a rocky day. Sing to me! Something of sunlight and bloom. Sing no more of sorrow and gloom. Sing to the beauty and brightness of life. ELLA WHEELER WILCOX Other people`s photo shoots.

March 27, 2019
A Javanese gamelan is not easily portable. Suddenly my life has new meaning. It`s dance demonstration day at Wright State University (see March 31, 2018, and April 2, 2017). ENERGY! ENTHUSIASM!

March 28, 2019
RTA: It`s Time to Ride. I got away from the office and heard a performance by jazz singer Sandra Rutledge (see December 27, 2017). Sandra was accompanied by pianist Keigo Hirakawa (see January 16, 2016). And, of course, Eddie Brookshire played bass (see December 7, 2018). Other people`s photo shoots (see March 27 above).

March 29, 2019
It`s tiring to be cute all the time. She made invisible cakes for everyone. Welcome to the world, Frederick Karl! It`s exhausting to be cute all the time. Time to go outside with Grandpa.

GCRD: Gem City Roller Derby. When you`re wearing a star on your helmet, you`re the jammer, and everybody will try to knock you down. The best jammers are able to slip around, under, or through the defense (see February 9, 2019). Lots of referees and officials keep the bout under control. Roller derby is a fun activity that everyone can enjoy.
