Don`t you wish YOU had an Adam Alonzo calendar? (see August 31, 2018, and December 30, 2014) My only responsibility today was to take pictures. In 2019, I`m hoping to build on last year`s success. In the Oregon District, getting a shot like this is easy (see January 1 from the years 2018, 2016, 2015, 2013, 2012 and 2009). Face the present and future, instead of the past.

Hunting at night: for fish, for photos. I don`t think you kids should be outside so late. They`re pretty when they`re fake (see December 19, 2018). The daily false alarm at the Biltmore Hotel. Good thing there`s a fire station in the next block. Go in there? How about no?

Okay kids, today you`ll need crepe paper in different colors, scissors and tape. Cut off several pieces of crepe paper. Tape them together in a random pattern. Put the camera lens into manual focus mode. With the crepe paper out of focus, spin the camera and zoom in and out while taking a picture.

M. C. Escher is not dead. If I saw someone taking a picture like this, I would wonder what in the world they were doing. It was a spring day in January. SOMETHING is happening at the Arcade. That`s good. Some days, shadows demand my attention.

My niece, whom I held as a baby, now has her own. Welcome to the world, Joseph Harold Moorman. He came a few days early, and is now 14 days old. He was quiet when I got there, and quiet when I left. But in between, not so much. See Joey`s earlier photo shoot on November 4, 2018.

Watery visions. Green head, orange feet. On you, it looks good. Other people`s photo shoots. I had my boots on, so I could go anywhere. Pictures like this are a dime a dozen in the summer. Today I had to work hard for this one.

Why is no one out here finishing this bridge? It`s 51 degrees! It`s not really a WARM 51 degrees. My best picture of the week -- but it`s early in the week. Where there`s art, there`s usually cheese and crackers. My worst picture of the week -- but it`s early in the week.

There`s a man with a gun over there, telling me I got to beware. STEPHEN STILLS Simple pleasures. No lifeguard on duty. Looks good. Will it mean fewer parking spaces for me? Way off alone, out by himself beyond boat and shore, Jonathan Livingston Seagull was practicing. RICHARD BACH

Sitting still in the intersection with siren and lights going, confusing everyone. B is for Biltmore. Pictures I take when it`s 27 degrees outside. Oh my darlin, oh my darlin, oh my darlin Clementine. No matter how cold it is, I eventually have to go outside.

January 10, 2019
Okay kids, today you`ll need a baking pan, colored gels, a couple of Speedlites, and a wireless flash trigger. Fill the baking pan with water and let the faucet drip. If you`re lucky and patient you might get a shot like this. Experiment with the color of the gel on the flash. Try not to drop your camera into the sink.

A photographer`s living room can be a bit abnormal. There are sometimes strange lights going off. Spelling one`s name backwards with a flashlight is hard. This attempt was not a complete success. Not a complete failure.

Unexplained divots in the frozen surface of a pond. The frozen tundra of West Carrollton. There were 25 people registered for my photography workshop today. Nine showed up, and I was glad. This is what winter wants to do to me, I just know it. That lucky guy doesn`t have to scrape his windshield.

January 13, 2019
Is this my car? The lion in winter. Every part of nature depends on every other part. People sometimes say to me, `Isn`t the snow beautiful?` and I have to take a deep breath and try to be polite. What really killed the dinosaurs.

January 14, 2019
Come sit a spell. This is as good as it gets on a cold winter night. I`d rather walk. I`m just glad it stopped snowing. One of my favorite winter activities is curling.

January 15, 2019
My camera bag`s stocked with tissues and cough drops. Carol Channing, January 31, 1921 - January 15, 2019. Chocolate landscape. Watch out! Dressed for the weather.

January 16, 2019
Thank goodness I don`t have to explain my pictures. Something unhuman went into this building. If you pay close attention, you can sometimes figure out where my photos were taken. When the sidewalks aren`t shoveled, it`s safer to walk on the street. It wasn`t too bad outside today. I can`t complain.

Honeycombs. Chinese restaurant window. At night. During an earthquake. She didn`t have time to put on her face this morning. Winter is still in charge. Merry Christmas.

January 18, 2019
The snow is slowly melting. High above Main Street. The rats were doing donuts in the snow. The downtown falcons were upset about something. He was waving at me . . . I think.

January 19, 2019
I locked the door on Saturday afternoon and won`t open it again until Tuesday morning. I enjoy my solitude. The challenge is to take three days of photos indoors. There are usually props around the kitchen I can use. The kitchen seen through a Mason jar. I`m running low (see January 15 above).

January 20, 2019
Nice people clean off their neighbor`s cars. Dunno who this is cleaning off my sidewalk. Dunno who this is paying him money. I just live here. I`m looking forward to warm and sunny days. After a full day of sun, nothing has melted.

January 21, 2019
This machine is keeping me alive this weekend. This book is keeping me company this weekend. I suppose I need to shave before going back to work. It was another day of relentless, and useless, sunshine. Look how much has melted from yesterday!

January 22, 2019
As I ventured out into the cold to return to work, I found the INSIDE of my car windshield was covered with ice. No, not really, but I kind of wish it was. I`m missing something since yesterday. Some people think that this is a camera.

January 23, 2019
It`s the least wonderful time of the year. In the spring and summer I take great photos. When the weather is good, I actually enjoy it. Now I hate going outside, and pictures barely happen. They`re probably not enjoyable for you to look at either.

January 24, 2019
Inconspicuously prowling the floor of an art gallery. This machine will sell you art for only $5. Studies in Yellow by Frances Smith. Thirsty? This is much bigger than what you think it is.

January 25, 2019
There`s serious work ahead tonight: I need raspberry tea and The Eagles Greatest Hits. I bought some of these markers when Ronald Reagan was president. Always test your markers first. A marker masterpiece. Removing sketch lines with my Reagan-era eraser.

January 26, 2019
At the spot I saw a hummingbird moth (July 1, 2018) and a hummingbird bathing in a lily (August 30, 2018) now there`s only this. Understand why I hate winter? Icing is good for cupcakes, not for plants. The birds have been raiding the trees for berries. Not surprisingly, I was the only person at the park. Take me away to someplace warm.

January 27, 2019
Today`s photos were shot from my car with the heat on. It was a cold day in the cemetery. `Sigh . . . 51 days until spring.` Grand go the years in the crescent above them -- Soundless as dots on a disk of snow. EMILY DICKINSON On the frozen coastline.

January 28, 2019
`What -- no butter?` Update: it`s still winter. Wait -- shouldn`t you be dead? Somewhere there`s a bicycle with muddy tires. Frozen in time.

January 29, 2019
My newest model. On Saturday, I`ll teach a photography workshop where I`ll show people how to take unusual pictures like this. Playing around with a flashlight in the dark living room. Oh, what the neighbors must think. I`m getting better at writing with light (see January 11 above). Should I go out and clean the snow off my car tonight, or wait until the morning when it will be -5 degrees?

January 30, 2019
I nearly blinded myself on this shot. Practicing with bubbles again (see December 27, 2018). Let`s add a little color. Photographing bubbles is a matter trial and error and error and error and error. What I do instead of watching TV.

January 31, 2019
Ready for my photo workshop. Who will carry all of this? Pass the ketchup. I walk down the street and 41 people are behind me. We`re havin` a heat wave, a tropical heat wave. IRVING BERLIN And the month ends with a glass of apple juice and a Tom Cruise action movie.
