Thank you for doing what you do, honeybees! Sure you can fly, but I have HANDS. Trash talk. Can you dig it? Oh, this mediocre picture took so much work.

August 2, 2016
Caught you! Art in the park. I didn`t really want to walk through the woods this morning, thinking I wouldn`t find anything interesting. I`m becoming more convinced that nature will give you everything you need to live for free if you only look for it. I never need to photograph another dragonfly, because this morning I reached the pinnacle of the art form.

Now scheduling bird portraits! Half price until Labor Day! St. Francis liked birds. Oh, if only he`d had a camera! I took more bird pictures this morning, but I`ll spare you. More big happenings happening at the river (see June 29, 2016). It seemed unthinkable for me to leave the world forever before I had produced all that I felt called upon to produce. LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN

It would be smiling if it had a mouth. I wear the chain I forged in life. I made it link by link, and I girded it on of my own free will. JACOB MARLEY It was an industrial day. Triptych. My one non-industrial photo for the day.

Wut? Reminds me a little bit of November 22, 2005. He looks like a superhero -- and he is since he`s helping Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Miami Valley. She`s riding a zipline in downtown Dayton, and I`m getting close to the point where I`ve seen everything. Poprocks rock! [See February 8, 2013]

August 6, 2016
Dangling dragonfly. Bashful butterfly. Solitary cicada. Glamorous goldfinch. Humble hummingbird.

August 7, 2016
No watch, no phone, no people. Just me and the birds, blooms, beasts and bugs. Mouth closed, ears and eyes open. Listening and looking for the subtle clues pointing to my next photograph. Capturing images today of beautiful things that may be gone tomorrow.

August 8, 2016
Tangled. Teamwork. It just blows the hot air around. Concealment. Secular stained glass.

August 9, 2016
Silly squirrel climbs upward toward hungry hawk. `Get your own squirrel!` Arrowhead Orb Weaver? Obsessed with her seeds, she didn`t see me approach. The Oregon District right now. Watch your step.

What I had for breakfast. What I had for lunch. What I had for dinner. I had some of this. And I had some of this.

August 12, 2016
Staggering outside to the porch, things are looking up. Things are looking up. Things are looking up. Things are looking up. Things are looking down.

August 13, 2016
Me right now. Out of practice. Better. Too far away. Better.

August 14, 2016
It`s been rainy lately. Apres la pluie. It falls from the sky for free and keeps us alive. Grace grow where those drops fall! WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE Enduring those long, tortured hours between meals.

August 15, 2016
Rain and more rain. How do I know if I live on the wrong side of the tracks? Bird aura. Cat portraits half off until Labor Day! Look up and ponder your own insignificance.

August 16, 2016
The Oregon District right now. Drive carefully. Besame mucho. And then it started to rain. Your daily bird photo. Penny for your thoughts.

August 17, 2016
It`s water droplet day. Watery web. An early morning visitor to the garden. It`s been a disappointing year for hummingbird photos. Chubby and contented, surrounded by seeds.

August 18, 2016
Oakwood early in the morning. Jeepers creepers, where`d you get those peepers? When a leaf falls in an uninhabited forest. Oakwood early in the evening. Orville Wright`s reading room.

August 19, 2016
Pass the veggie dip. I can`t believe I ate the whole thing. Low ceiling. The library opens in 45 minutes. Someone in the Oregon District feels good about themselves for leaving loaves of stale bread in the park.

August 20, 2016
Mexicans are free to walk the streets -- for now. Can a wall be built between the U. S. and Puerto Rico? Okay, well, I feel safer now. Your daily bird photo. Muchas personas. Muchas voces. Una ciudad.

August 21, 2016
This is the beginning of the end. I can feel it. The less there is in a photo, the better it is. You can have all sorts of expensive camera equipment, but if you lack persistence and perception, it`s useless. I brought the bug lens with me this morning. It was a peaceful morning in the park, until a mercenary photographer arrived with a bunch of squirming children.

August 22, 2016
Puffy. Creepy. Sleepy. Watery. Misty.

August 23, 2016
A little tape oughta hold the building together. No, I didn`t accidentally push the shutter button. You`re so vein. The Rule of Thirds gone horribly wrong. Ready for the county fair. Bring on the chickens!

August 24, 2016
Water droplets are their own reward. In 4,475 days of picture-taking, this was new to me. `Seeds. Love seeds. More seeds. Yes, seeds.` It was a battle for air superiority over the prairie today as hummingbirds flew circles around slower goldfinches. And then there was the spider half the size of my hand.

August 25, 2016
Standing on the sidewalk among garbage cans. Hands across the water. PAUL MCCARTNEY Self-portrait. Where corduroy comes from. Got my daily bird, I can go home now.

August 26, 2016
Last one to the top buys lunch. We know about the Wright brothers and the airplane, but the inventor of the cupcake is sadly overlooked. Progress seems to have stalled (see June 29, 2016). Wonder woman. Your daily duck.

August 27, 2016
Equine amity. She asked me, `Did you get a shot of me falling off my horse?` I said, `No, I missed it. Let me know next time.` Competition was halted to search for a thrown shoe. The horse with the two-tone mane had serious discipline problems and I was worried something would go wrong. `If you`re not going to feed me, why are you here?`

August 28, 2016
Horses yesterday, horsepower today. In better shape than my car, which is four years old. They don`t make `em like that anymore. Unbreakable. Hooping it up.

August 29, 2016
Morning has broken. Mini-butterfly. Not a bad spider web photo, but I wish I could get a picture of one dripping with dew (see August 30 below). This building has a full day`s supply of Vitamin C. Home is that place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in.

August 30, 2016
Morning on the prairie, just me and the birds and bugs. An intrepid researcher (compare to August 2 above). My spider web wish came true (see August 29 above). A woman`s cacophonous utterances shattered the morning stillness. It slurped a bit of dew from the nearby leaf.

August 31, 2016
Life was but a flower in the springtime. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE He works at the library, but he refused to answer even my most basic genealogy questions. There will definitely be leftovers tonight. Bunny luv. Goat detailing.
