I wonder if they still make clay prototypes of new cars. I dwell in that gray chasm between light and dark. The hazards of texting while biking. USED HELIUM NOW HALF OFF! I`m not completely certain I like my new hairstyle.

What I will bring to a shoot tomorrow: two cameras, one big and the other one bigger. A flash, flash bracket, diffuser and off-camera cord. The $85 cord broke during the shoot. Lots of freshly-charged batteries. These batteries and their chargers probably cost more than your camera. Memory cards. And footwear appropriate for a religious service followed by an outdoor soccer game (quite possibly in the rain).

August 3, 2013
After dinner, little children were running around with the same colors smeared on their faces. It was at this crucial moment that the flash cord broke (see August 2 above). Big sky country. Fortunately I didn`t have to shoot the game in the rain. Knights of Columbus honor guard, complete with swords.

Today feels like spring. Urban sprawl. Nest, sweet nest. There are no hawks in the neighborhood this year, so the squirrels are running in herds. Insert Edward Hopper figure here.

August 5, 2013
Monday: One man`s trash is another man`s photograph. I turned away before tragedy occurred. My city: under renovation. Straight curves. This building downtown can be YOURS for a song. However, it will be a sad song.

Tuesday: Wait, something is missing. Dinnertime. With only a seven-month lifespan, he is now over the hill. Dinnertime -- on a liquid diet. In case there was any doubt, now you know where I am.

August 7, 2013
Wednesday: Now something really is missing. Go green. I had to rush this shot because some people were approaching. Grrrr . . . PEOPLE! Zenith: the highest point. Confetti!

August 8, 2013
Thursday: Why is that guy taking a picture of nothing? Hey, wait! There`s something on top of -- okay, bye. Anything with berries on it is unconditionally good for you. Allow me to give you a hand. The broken flash cable that cost $85 is on the right (see August 2 and 3 above). The $15 replacement cable on the left is reinforced so it won`t break.

Catpathy. Saran wrap helps keep tattoos fresher longer. This building was supposed to get turned into condos years ago. It looks like this time it`s really happening. Faces in the crowd. Time for me to go home.

August 10, 2013
The photographers were out early at the park this morning. I managed to get two in this picture. This is a personal question, but how much do you urn? Trying to hide from me? I don`t THINK so! So, uh, you like that kind of flower then? Dos flores rojas.

August 11, 2013
Why is this girl smiling? Oh, that`s why she`s smiling. First date. I could really use some PI right now. More potential tragedy across the street (see August 5 above).

August 12, 2013
Not so close to my freshly-painted car, please. The sun rises before I get up, but here`s a hint of it. We all need a little fresh air sometimes. Okay, the studio light works. Now I just need somebody to take a picture of. Egyptian heiroglyphics.

August 13, 2013
Okay, we`ll go out to the football field for a photo. Oh, wait. A stands for Adam. Or Alonzo. A perfectly imperfect photograph. Winding your way down Fifth Street, light in your weight and dead on your feet. Susan and her sisters.

August 14, 2013
Opening your locker for the first time is hard enough without somebody taking your picture while you do it. First day of school. Where has the summer gone? Nice try with the green paint, but I can still see the house. It was a day of reckoning for Oregon District sidewalks. Destroying sidewalks all day makes you thirsty.

August 15, 2013
I should make friends with my neighbor the gardener. When civilization breaks down, I`ll have a source of food. This shot didn`t take as long as the one on July 28, 2013. A friend in need. My good deed for the day. `Thanks man, I don`t know what I would`ve done if you hadn`t come by. I just need to catch my breath a minute.`

August 16, 2013
The T-38 Talon has been the Air Force training jet for longer than I`ve been alive (and that`s a long time). Everyone deserves a moment in the spotlight. Lunch. Tiny flower booby-trapped with tiny webs made by tiny spiders seeking tiny victims. It`s great to be in America.

August 17, 2013
Susan B. Anthony lives on. Perhaps you`re trying too hard to gain attention. Heater is a flirt. There`s something about dark-haired Hispanics. There`s also something about blondes who carry Canons.

August 18, 2013
The Establishment. Have you seen my pencil? Hey wait, wasn`t there another building back there earlier? (See August 5 above). Oh, there`s the other building. I told you not to slam the door!

August 19, 2013
If you can`t get to the ball, make sure you opponent can`t either. `Put me in, coach!` The referee thanked me for not getting in his way. My camera is too young to be giving me shots like this. Let`s hope it`s the memory card. Yeah . . . sure it is. A fire truck at the smoke shop.

August 20, 2013
Workplace productivity. Before Friday night lights, there`s Tuesday afternoon practice. I wouldn`t recommend putting a parking ticket on this car. A is for Adam. Welcome class of 2017. Graduation is right around the corner.

August 21, 2013
I guess the leash law doesn`t apply to cows. Viscious cycles. Another Oregon District sidewalk is reincarnated (see August 14 above). This photo is the result of 10% luck and 90% persistence. It`s National Humiliate a Fire Hydrant Day.

August 22, 2013
The road to another state tournament begins tonight. Volleyball, where every five is a high five. Have mercy on the person on the receiving end of that. Are you being served? Practice hard. Win easy.

August 23, 2013
If you heard them, you`d know why they`re called grackles. My car looks best in autumn. Just thinking ahead. Pollination is a gloriously inefficient process. One down, millions more to go. You got that right.

August 24, 2013
A fastback blast from the past. His first set of wheels. The performer`s instinct. Some Saturday steppin`. A long time ago, I would`ve shot lots of pictures of a band. Today, I took six frames on their first song and was gone.

August 25, 2013
This explains the loud noises you heard today. Of course, I had to experiment a little. Looks like another exciting finish! Photographic tip of the day: get to an event really early, before they set up the table where they charge admission. Girls race powerboats mostly for the fashionable clothes.

August 26, 2013
A wooden fence. Nothing more. Regeneration frustration. Do you know what my favorite season is? `These are MY wood chips! MINE!` And here is a red balloon. I think of you and let it go. NENA

August 27, 2013
Not an exciting sport to shoot, so let`s quickly move on. Hit it where they ain`t -- but this one went out of bounds. An admirable, but fruitless, effort. I was happy with this picture, so with the game still going, I started to think about sports photography in general . . . I decided that there are four levels of success in sports photography, and that I am on level three. All I need now are famous athletes, rather than unknown high schoolers.

August 28, 2013
Please sign my online petition to Stop Violence Against Clowns. And wear the orange ribbon -- on your nose. Hay there. `Look up! The judges are watching.` Who wants bacon? I need one of these for my desk.

August 29, 2013
The sidewalk repair project in the Oregon District has had unintended consequences: a tree fell over late last night. The sidewalk may have been the only thing keeping it up. One time while photographing berries in a tree, someone called out, `Hey! Don`t eat those!` Saved my life, I`m sure. I finally found a Chevy older than mine. For those of you lacking direction in life. There was a dispute -- territorial or matrimonial -- going on between two male cardinals.

August 30, 2013
The purpose of life is to live. Please no, not yet. There was a wedding rehearsal going on at the park . . . so I shot this. More flowers popping out of nowhere. Feel free to steal it, if you can get to it.

August 31, 2013
Sometimes I even impress myself with what I can see. It rained last night. A shot like this should be a bit dark, or else the water droplets look like glowing white blobs. Eventually I got too close and it went bye-bye. Water droplets? Yes, please!
