`Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match! Find me a find, catch me a catch!` `If I were a rich man, yado deedle deedle yodo doodle deedle deedle doy.` `L`Chaim! L`Chaim! To life!` `They gave each other a pledge. Unheard of! Absurd!` `She`ll live with him three weeks, and when three weeks are up, I`ll come to her by night!`

The complete works of William Shakespeare are being read aloud at this table. Fighting water with water. Too relaxed to quack. Urban garden. That`s my soul up there. THE POLICE

There`s nowhere to go but up. Punctuation marks in the grass. And the sun and showers will help you through the lonesome, struggling hours, till you raise to light and beauty virtue`s fair, unfading flowers. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR Don`t bother them. They work for you. Because of clouds, dusk came early.

Bent but not broken. Beasts in the backyard. Change of direction. Beasts in the park. Pick your stitch.

Hopefully their marriage will not be stormy. The new Gatorade spokesman. `I`ll never become a real boy!` Wavering ghosts on a dark afternoon. It was last inspected in 2012.

`Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!` This team prepares to put their 1-13 record on the line. I guess the point is to put the ball into the goal, but beyond that I have no clue what`s going on in this game. Boys play this game with helmets and padding, but girls go at it with just a small mask and maybe a little lip gloss. A few players (with no hope of getting in the game) asked me how much my camera cost. `A thousand?` No, I said. `Seven hundred?` No, you`re going the wrong direction. I can`t tell if this is the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat.

Somebody ran out of paper in their sketch pad. She`s 21 today (see May 7, 2012). I`m beginning to see the light. When somebody gets down on one knee and asks me to take a picture, I have little choice. Singing loudy, with a bug in its mouth. Well, wouldn`t you?

I believe I can fly. The radio in this car plays only old songs. It`s a miracle! Springtime passes, whether you`re paying attention or not. They`re good with milk and a little brown sugar.

May 9, 2013
The crocuses croaked, the daffodils died and the tulips are toast. Next up: irises! `You look at me when I`m talking to you!` There should be a crowd saying `Ooohh` and `Aaahh!` There should be a band playing John Philip Sousa. Thanks, but you spelled my name wrong. This routine awards ceremony was a very difficult shoot. There was a photographer in my shots and I was in hers.

For verily, wherever there is cake, there shall I be also. I try to be unobtrusive when I take pictures, but I know that people are always conscious of that guy with the camera. So much for unobtrusive. Just stand there and pose, OK? `Hey, I just met you and this is crazy, but here`s my number, so call me maybe.` CARLY RAE JEPSEN `Tonight, we are young, so let`s set the world on fire! We can burn brighter than the sun.` NATE RUESS & FUN.

I have a thing for redheads. Put down the 3D glasses, go outside and use your eyes. What are the chances it will fall the rest of the way just as I walk underneath it? Still seeing red in the forest. Was that necessary?

May 12, 2013
I got you, babe. SONNY AND CHER Step right up! Thirsty? I know why the caged bird sings. PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR It feels like football weather.

Sometimes clutter in a shot is just clutter, but not this time. Get yourself in gear! I figured out it`s called `Fluid Dynamics` by Yellow Springs sculptor Jon Barlow Hudson (see April 4, 2013). Your daily cardinal pic. I could be wrong, but I think there`s a church nearby.

Strangers on bikes, part 1. One of the first newspaper articles I ever wrote was about the Heritage Sculpture on Courthouse Square. Strangers on bikes, part 2. Guess where I am (see March 9, 2012). Strangers on bikes, part 3.

Poof! It`s not quite summer, but a good day to stay in the shade. It all starts here. Shooting flowers on a windy day means a lot of waiting. I am capable of photographing more than one flower.

`Lady Knight` by Tamora Pierce. When she became a knight, eighteen-year-old Kel hoped to be given a combat post, but instead she finds herself named commander of an outpost of refugees, where she must face the unnatural forces of the evil Balyce. Free concert in Parking Lot C. What the percussionist saw. I set up my camera about 30 yards from the stage, took three shots and thought `This ain`t gonna work.` I spent the rest of the concert at the edge of the platform. What the tuba player saw.

Are you coming to my Nature Photography workshop tomorrow? I use the term Nature Photography very loosely. I accidentally ripped the net last time I dunked the ball. Oh, the dogs that barked as I took this picture. More Nature Photography, I guess.

May 18, 2013
I don`t think I saw you at my Nature Photography workshop this morning. What were you wearing? The only small scale still life that I`ve ever seen of Ansel Adams looked a bit like this. He stole the idea from me. It`s all about perspective. I took another picture of these same raindrops from above and it is BORING! Oh, to be a bee! [O2BAB] You rang?

Where Cheetos come from. I`m sure they`ll come back into style. The nation`s pastime. Four of today`s pictures were taken in store windows. Let`s face it.

Your masterpiece here. I really wish people would learn to spell my name correctly (see May 9 above). This is what it feels like to be unexpectedly awarded an $8000 college scholarship. This is what it feels like to be unexpectedly awarded a $172,700 college scholarship. Despite the enormous expense of college, I`m glad to see so many students heading in that direction, and so many sources of generosity to help them afford it.

Another meeting of the Adam Alonzo Fan Club (see August 5, 2008, and April 30, 2005). What the percussionist saw. `Where d`ya want the ladder?` the custodian asked me. `Down in the orchestra pit where the audience won`t see it during the concert.` `Right here`s fine,` he said, and left. After I carried the ladder into the orchestra pit myself, I began taking pictures of the performance. I`m sorry, remind me what instrument you play?

May 22, 2013
Nature restrained. The Oregon District is anything but dry. I`ve forgotten what the horizon looks like. `Hey there, Ralphie boy!` Turn your headlights on.

May 23, 2013
Yours? Only the cool kids have senior portraits by Adam Alonzo. I don`t have a Facebook account, but I know more about Facebook than you do. It was a dark and stormy night. Life`s like an hourglass glued to the table. ANNA NALICK

Roses are red. What if everyone on Earth thought the same way as I did? Or the same way as you? Welcome alternative viewpoints. No thanks. Do you have any raspberry tea? Somebody`s lost. There is no water anywhere nearby. Look at the complicated instrument panel.

Nine years ago today, I bought a digital camera and have taken photos every day since. The camera store is gone and Sales Associate 66 lost his job, but I`m still shooting. Buying that camera has irrevocably changed my life, both for better and for worse, with a blurry line in between. Taking photos every day has improved my perception. Sometimes I take pictures that other people really like. Other times, I take pictures that only I like. Having gone this long, I don`t foresee that I will choose to stop taking pictures every day. However, circumstances beyond my control will someday make that choice for me.

I generally prefer to photograph girls` sports rather than guys. They may run into each other once in a while . . . . . . but girls don`t tackle each other like guys frequently do. The referee called `Blue hold` and the blue fans got mad. The goalie could just watch it go into the net. Watch yer face! Next season she`ll play.

May 27, 2013
Memorial Day 2013. I tend to photograph out of the way places. On a hot day like this, I could go for a nice cone. Spare me. What`s the point?

May 28, 2013
ELLO! Do you know the way to San Jose? Down into the bowels of the Schuster Center. The audience shouted all through the orchestral prelude. Keepin` it classy. They have a very bright future ahead of them.

May 29, 2013
Today I visited a place where picture postcards awaited. It was historical and modern at the same time. Today was a perfect day to walk around and explore. Oh, come to the church in the wildwood. Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, or Saint Francis.

May 30, 2013
Another night taking pictures at the Schuster Center, but this time I don`t have to crouch in the dark orchestra pit. It`s difficult for some children to overcome their shyness. My respect to the little boys who were brave enough to be seen in public dancing with girls. Nick Page kept everyone singing, dancing and laughing. This is so much nicer than being in the pit.

May 31, 2013
I`m back in the orchestra pit for yet another graduation. She borrowed them from that guy from May 26, 2012. First a processional, then a recessional, then relax. I`d love to say it gets easier from now on, but . . . CONGRATULATIONS!
