I never look that good this early in the morning. The sign should read Squirrel Crossing. We`ll see whether it survives ice and snow. Crunch, crunch crunch. The photographer was hungry.

October 2, 2004
I have trouble remembering which set of keys to play. If only we could trust each other! A shot like this can make me happy all day. What`s your point? I bet these people don`t throw stones.

October 3, 2004
Great save! (I won`t mention the four that got by her.) I have great promise as a sports photographer in the 14-and-under leagues. Get some air. Mom can`t bear to watch. I see this guy hanging around downtown a lot.

If you`re going to have a bright yellow house, you might as well have green awnings. It used to be on a pole in the front yard. I guess it too many unauthorized people rang it. With a stainless steel building, you can do renovations using a Brillo pad. The urban jungle I call my home. I`d be afraid of retaliation.

We were both shivering when I took this. They go out in a blaze of glory. Catholic stained glass. In the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. A deliberately enigmatic image.

October 6, 2004
Some of my photos are simply electrifying. And some photos are earth shattering. Feeling droopy about the arrival of fall. Where chocolate comes from. Where Twizzlers come from.

October 7, 2004
Today`s berries are kinda orangish red. A sprinkle a day . . . Somewhere up there are sixteen reflections of me taking this picture. The great thing about college is that it prepares students to be unique individuals. I TOOK this, and I still don`t know where that light was coming from.

October 8, 2004
Today`s berries are kinda brownish green. Ready for immediate occupancy. When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang Upon those boughs which shake against the cold. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE Great eyes, but the nose needs a little work. There`s a pathway in the sky.

October 9, 2004
That`s some really SLOW water. Life is full of contrasts. Minty fresh! Honk if you`re against the war. I can taste them already.

October 10, 2004
Stop the car. Get out and look. This explains the rumors of a hippopotamus. I`m organizing a holiday basket for this underprivileged family. Please bring nonperishable food items. This truck hasn`t moved (see August 19) but the sapling has grown. I suppose the leaves will need raked soon. Shoot now, eat later.

October 11, 2004
Raise high the cross of Christ, tread where His feet have trod. As brothers of the Son of Man, rise up o men of God. DOWN WITH PEACE! But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE Beware: watch cat. Try kicking THAT into the gutter, ya neighborhood punks!

October 12, 2004
My baby takes the morning train. `I KNEW I forgot something.` Red sky at morning, mailman take warning. Bright, shiny, new -- and somewhat warped. I took this picture, but this isn`t the picture I took.

October 13, 2004
Same out-the-window tree as May 25 - just a different season. I control the horizontal. The hood of my car serves as a nice autumnal background. Say it with me fast: gutter puddle, gutter puddle, gutter puddle . . . Hasn`t lit up since 1974.

October 14, 2004
The horses were a little spooked by my flash. Morning in suburbia. Madonnas on sale - while they last. `Yep, looks like a cold sore to me.` I always try to brighten my little corner of the world.

October 15, 2004
Where red-hots come from. Chlorophyl deficiency. Now that`s optimism. Here`s where that colored chalk delivery truck accident occurred. Bottom right: soccer goal. Middle left: soccer ball.

October 16, 2004
Durable, if not beautiful. Oh, I dunno -- maybe somebody can still use it. Blue felt: it must be a Kawai. Doubles as a pinball machine. Blue cotton cloth: it must be a sword from Cameroon.

October 17, 2004
A bit more colorful than October 10, and the tree shadows are less dense. They`ll have twice as many leaves to rake. Again with the reflections. Wondering where all the bees have gone. Enjoy it while you can.

October 18, 2004
Cords. Chords. Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. I`m not sure if this is a good roll. I`m not even sure what game this is. Enlarged to show texture.

October 19, 2004
Look down to see the sky. They don`t know when to quit. Eaves leaves. Yo-plop. Guess who was in town today.

October 20, 2004
It`s raining cats . . . . . . and dogs. Fall has fallen. Caughtcha! Vatican security forces maintain several Popemobiles in order to thwart potential saboteurs.

October 21, 2004
Walking through the Oregon District this morning, I saw this pretty girl. Then I went to the Art Institute and she was there too. She followed me to RiverScape. I told her she`d better go home. But then she threatened to jump off a bridge.

October 22, 2004
Good morning. A bug`s-eye view of autumn. This self-portrait proves it: I`m a broken man. A lot of public art has been commissioned recently to honor the Wright brothers. Sufferin` succotash!

October 23, 2004
I hate that embarrassing static cling. Who wants fruit when candy is cheaper? Regular visitors to this Web site can easily identify days when it was raining outside. Ha! My Canon can do 3.34 megapixels without breaking a sweat. You will make many changes before setting satisfactorily. Lucky Numbers: 12, 4, 18, 33, 7.

October 24, 2004
Nature`s subtle way of saying, `Don`t eat me.` The Mirror of Galadriel. You don`t HAVE to be tall and skinny for someone to want to take your picture, but it helps. A see-through building. The petals drop so quietly, The listening will stifle the sound. CHIHUN CHO

October 25, 2004
`Dance, you! I said DANCE!` Consider the alternative. The colors of summer and fall. The colors of fall and winter. That goose isn`t allowed on the field. The ref should call a fowl.

October 26, 2004
Maxfield Parrish would`ve loved it. Susan has seen better days. More of a tumblebee: he didn`t do much flying. Fragile remnant of a fleeting life. Yes, I should`ve taken this a half-mile earlier.

October 27, 2004
Some people have to do a lot more than just press a button to express themselves creatively. I`m preparing a banquet for 100 tonight. Hope they like Spaghetti-O`s. Protection from the rain is freely available . . . . . . or you can just try to run between the drops. It`s a lot harder for them to hide from me when there aren`t any leaves on the trees.

October 28, 2004
How irritating! (See October 13) What Halloween costume? I think we were in A-V Club together in high school. A sand memorial for Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, commemorating those killed in war. Then I suddenly had this out-of-car experience, where I was - like - floating above it.

October 29, 2004
Hear the slithering crunch of rubber tires rolling across a leafy yard. What it lacks in narrative content, it makes up for in color. The end of the leaf. Get it? The END of the leaf. Not the original color, I`m sure. Also not the original color.

October 30, 2004
Who`s going to rake THAT? Figaro got married last night, but it was Cherubino who stole the show. And I wasn`t even having fun. Do you prefer vanilla or chocolate? Or maybe a pistachio cone?

October 31, 2004
It would be really rough if you were a bee and you were allergic to pollen. Ready to accommodate. Whatever these are, they`ve looked dead like this since the spring. Before . . . . . After.
